<p>Jiu-Jitsu black belt Rubens Charles “Cobrinha” is just a white belt who never quit. The teacher at team Alliance learned to love doing repetitions and day-to-day life at the academy, and he made it. Another lesson our GMA in Los Angeles assimilated was how to do a choke. When attacking an opponent of any shape or size, he&#8217;s always a proponent of going for the choke, if just because it&#8217;s the go-to move for getting out of a jam against bigger, stronger and more athletic opponents.</p>
<p>In the following video he teaches how use an adversary&#8217;s lapel and arm to strangle them. “The trick is to let your weight bear down on him and look to your support foot,” Cobrinha explains.</p>
