The scoundrel got the hell out as athletes chased him.

A peculiar episode was caught on tape recently in Rio de Janeiro state. A criminal tried to break into a Gracie Barra branch in Nova Iguaçu to steal. But he hadn’t considered it would be BJJ class time when he did it.

After pretending to seek information from the receptionist, the thief jumped over the turnstile and attempted to take her cellphone. As they realized what was going on, students left the dojo and chased the criminal, who swiftly left through the same door.

“There were two men,” the receptionist told news site G1. “One stayed outside on the bike, and the other came into the gym. He didn’t come in announcing a robbery; he came up to the reception and asked for information. But, since I was suspicious and didn’t respond, he jumped over the turnstile already asking for my phone. He surrounded me at the stairs and tried to take the phone from my hand.”

“The criminal pulled my hair to try to bring me closer to him,” she went on, “but I pushed him away with my arm. At that moment he pulled his shirt up and said, ‘I’m gonna kill you.’ But I couldn’t identify what kind of weapon it was — I couldn’t tell between a knife and a revolver. My luck was that a student saw the situation and called the others. Scared, the criminal ran and fled on a second bicycle.”

O larápio não pensou duas vezes e saiu correndo ao ser perseguido pelos atletas do Jiu-Jitsu.

Uma cena inusitada foi flagrada na Baixada Fluminense. Um larápio tentou invadir as dependências da Gracie Barra para praticar um roubo, no Centro de Nova Iguaçu. O que ele não contava, porém, é que estava bem na hora da aula de Jiu-Jitsu.

Após disfarçar um papo com a recepcionista, o gatuno pulou a roleta e invadiu o local para roubar o celular da moça. Contudo, ao reparar a movimentação, os alunos deixaram o dojô e foram pra cima do ladrão, que saiu em disparada pela mesma porta que entrou e foi seguido pelos atletas da Gracie Barra.

“Eram dois homens”, disse a recepcionista em entrevista ao G1. “Um ficou lá fora na bicicleta e o outro entrou na academia. Ele não chegou anunciando assalto. Veio até a recepção e pediu uma informação. Mas como eu desconfiei e não respondi, aí ele pulou a catraca já pedindo meu celular. Me cercou na escada e tentou tirar o celular da minha mão. O criminoso puxou meu cabelo para tentar me levar para perto dele, mas eu afastei com o braço. Aí, nesse momento, ele levantou a camisa e disse: ‘Vou te matar’. Mas não dava para identificar que tipo de arma era. Não dava para saber se era uma faca ou um revólver. A minha sorte foi que um aluno viu a situação e chamou os outros. Assustado, o bandido correu e fugiu numa segunda bicicleta.”

Considerada uma embaixatriz do Jiu-Jitsu, Kyra Gracie não fica quieta. Depois de acabar as gravações de um programa no Japão, literalmente voou para o Rio de Janeiro, onde conseguiu chegar a tempo para o réveillon.

“Foi correria total. Cheguei no dia 31, às 14h, mas deu tempo de assistir aos fogos em Copacabana!”, conta a compromissada faixa-preta.

E a agenda não para. Neste fim de semana, a campeã mundial ministra um seminário em Nova Iguaçu, cidade do Rio.

“Pela primeira vez no Rio, ministro um seminário, neste fim de semana, em Nova Iguaçu. As vagas são limitadas, não percam!”, avisa.

As atividades, que acontecem na Vila Olímpica de Nova Iguaçu, também estão abertas aos homens. As inscrições custam R$50 e os cem primeiros inscritos terão direito a camisas do seminário. Widely seen as a sort of Jiu-Jitsu ambassador, Kyra Gracie just keeps shaking and moving. After shooting a television show in Japan, she flew off for Rio de Janeiro and made it just in time for New Year’s.

“It was a total rush. I arrived on the 31st at 2pm, but that was time enough to watch the fireworks on Copacabana beach!” said the busy black belt.

And now she’s back at work again. This weekend the world champion will hold a seminar in the city of Nova Iguaçu, in Rio de Janeiro state.

“The seminar this weekend in Nova Iguaçu will be my first seminar in Rio. Space is limited, so don’t miss out!” she warns.
