Metamoris Pro served up a whopping dose of high-caliber Jiu-Jitsu last weekend in San Diego, California. It was an unforgettable afternoon, and right on the very first match of the card, one of the liveliest of all, Caio Terra had the wherewithal to break free of a figure-four footlock, pass guard and launch an attack of his own on Jeff Glover’s arm.

Cold calculations, persistence in execution, and heaps of confidence—those were the three aspects that made the difference in his winning.

On a Saturday when the biggest winner was Jiu-Jitsu fans, the finalists of the black belt absolute division have come through the works.

On one side of the bracket, young ultraheavyweight Marcus Bochecha went past Rodolfo Vieira (8-7, with decisive takedown), Bernardo Faria (choke from back mount) and went through to the final to represent CheckMat at twilight on Sunday.

The other open weight finalist is another first-timer. Alliance superheavyweight Leonardo Nogueira beat Xande Ribeiro in the quarterfinals (sweep) and Antônio Cara de Sapato (9-2 from sweep, pass and mount against takedown) and others in making it through.

Bochecha and Léo Nogueira were the two superheavyweight finalists at last year’s Worlds, when Nogueira won by judges’ decision after drawing 2-2 on the scoreboard.

This year, the two faced off at the Abu Dhabis tryouts in Gramado, which Bochecha won by 11 to 2, of which you can refresh your memory below.

Num sábado onde o grande vencedor foi o fã de Jiu-Jitsu, o absoluto da faixa-preta teve seus finais definidos.

De um dos lados da chave, o jovem peso pesadíssimo Marcus Bochecha passou por Rodolfo Vieira (8 a 7, com uma queda decisiva), Bernardo Faria (estrangulamento pelas costas) e faz a final ao anoitecer de domingo, representando a CheckMat.

O outro finalista do aberto também chega na disputa do mais cobiçado dos ouros pela primeira vez. Leonardo Nogueira, fera da Alliance e atleta da divisão dos superpesados, venceu nas quartas Xande Ribeiro (raspagem) e Antônio Cara de Sapato (9 a 2, raspagem, passagem e montada contra queda), entre outros para chegar lá.

Bochecha e Léo Nogueira fizeram a final do Mundial no superpesado no ano passado, com uma vitória de Nogueira na decisão dos juízes (2 a 2 no placar).

Este ano, os dois se enfrentaram em Gramado, pela seletiva de Abu Dhabi, com vitória de Bochecha por 11 a 2, que você relembra abaixo.
