Last weekend, the Gracie Barra team in Australia, led by black belt Marcelo Rezende won 1^st place in all categories including kids, Gi and NoGi divisions at the NSW (New South Wales) State Championship, which is the biggest Jiu-Jitsu competition event in the country.

Black Belt Marco Joca, a Gracie Barra executive, travelled from USA, where he lives with his family, to Australia together with his brother-in-law and Jiu-Jitsu star, Roberto “Tussa” Alencar, in order to help the team prepare for the NSW tournament. The Camp in preparation to the tournament was organized by GB regional director in Australia, Marcelo Rezende, who is supported by 20 GB black belts in the country.

Marco said that it is the first time GB accomplished something like that, winning all divisions (Kids, Gi, and NoGi) in a single event. “Marcelo Rezende joined forces with 20 black belts in the country, and our camp was a success helping athletes to have a great performance.” Comment Joca

A well-executed submission hold is a surefire way to win. That’s the plain and simple truth. And that’s certainly the case with the most popular one—the armbar. The rules to properly performing an armbar are taught in the very first classes a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner takes:

* Keep the opponent’s thumb pointing upwards;
* Don’t loosen the pressure from your legs;
* Extend the arm by pulling with your hands.

Uma chave bem dada é certeza de vitória. Isso é pura verdade. Principalmente a mais popular, o armlock. As regras da boa execução são conhecidas nas primeiras aulas de Jiu-Jitsu.

* Estique o braço usando o famoso aperto de mãos

Entretanto há muitas variações do golpe. Nosso GMA em Sydney, na Austrália, o faixa-preta Marcelo Rezende (Gracie Barra) mostra no vídeo abaixo um macete para arrochar o braço.

Repare que ele está no cem quilos e desliza a perna de dentro para a lateral do adversário, virando a cabeça do mesmo, no sentido do braço que vai ser capturado (impedindo o escape). Depois ele passa a outra perna por cima do rosto do oponente e faz a alavanca, até sentir os três tapinhas.
