A intenção das feras era treinar para o ADCC 2013, que ocorreria meses depois. Sem aparato ou plateia, os craques do peso pesado aqueceram e caíram para dentro, num treino técnico e cheio de movimentação. Pedro Rocha started his competition season at IBJJF with two gold medals. First, he got the gold medal at Austin Open in the heavyweight and open class, after closing out with his brother João Gabriel. One week later, he got the gold again at Oklahoma City Open.

A black belt since 2019, Pedro wants to gain experience in smaller tournaments in order to shine at bigger tournaments like No- Gi Worlds, No-Gi Pans and ADCC trials.

Pedro analyzes his performance, talks about where he needs to get better at in order to get to the highest level on his way of fighting.

” I did a great job, but I’m too far from my 100%. I’ve been training super hard for a long time, I didn’t take a break during Christmas and New Year. I want to keep myself more active, empower my strong weapons and make no mistakes. I want to get the gold at ADCC trials. I wake up and I live with this dream ”

Pedro, who has been training wrestling since he was young, believes that his dedication to this sport sets him apart from other athletes.

“I’ve been training grappling since I was very young, wrestling is a very strong weapon in grappling. My training has always been very demanding, hard and complicated, that’s why it makes a difference in the elite. I help MMA athletes like José Aldo, for example, in some of his fights. This experience adds a lot for me to stand out!”, comments Pedro.

João Gabriel’s younger brother, Pedro told us about the experience of fighting and winning alongside him. João and Pedro closed out the absolute at the Austin Open a few weeks ago.

“It was really cool, it’s always been good to fight alongside my brother, we’ve been doing that since we were kids. It’s even better to win together. He’ll be back 100% this year”, he says.

Marcus Buchecha and Leandro Lo may face each other.

Eight of the strongest fighters, 40,000 dollars on the line and three no-gi matches to get to the top of the podium. It is with this formula that the IBJJF is again hosting in Las Vegas its Heavyweight GP. It will take place Aug. 24 at Evexia Fit Fest.

Last week the federation confirmed João Gabriel Rocha to fill the last spot of the tourney that promises to be an explosive one from beginning to end, following a sudden-death format.

The first fighter confirmed, Marcus Buchecha, who is the biggest record holder in IBJJF World Championships, seeks to extend his reign over the BJJ world. A two-time ADCC world champion, he has plenty to offer in no-gi. Another fighter confirmed is the American Gordon Ryan. A heel hook master, Ryan paraded his technique under IBJJF rules at the 2018 No-Gi Pan, which he walked out of with double gold. He is currently recovering from an injury, which may stop him from competing, but his name remains on the list.

A two-time no-gi world champion, Lucas Hulk was the third name confirmed. Coming off some great performances in classical BJJ, Hulk has the potential to be a thorn in anyone’s side. Yuri Simões was next on the list. An ADCC world champion in the 88kg and 99kg divisions and no-gi world champion, Yuri has in his sharp takedown game a powerful weapon.

Leandro Lo was confirmed after that. Having triumphed in the biggest gi tournaments in the world, Lo counts two no-gi Brazilian titles among his accolades, and his unpredictable game means he can always spring a decisive surprise. Mahamed Aly was confirmed after that. An absolute European no-gi champion, Mahamed possesses classic judo takedowns in his arsenal, as well as a lot of precision in leg entries and a phenomenally strong guard-passing game.

Representing GFTeam, Patrick Gáudio was the seventh fighter summoned. Coming off a great showing at the IBJJF’s No-Gi Pan, Patrick is known for giving all he’s got until the last second. And finally, we have João Gabriel Rocha. The silver medalist of ADCC 2015’s absolute division is coming off the feat of beating Marcus Buchecha in a BJJ Stars superfight, and has been showing that his no-gi game is up to snuff in Kasai and other no-gi events.

Oito craques, 40 mil dólares em jogo e três lutas sem kimono de alto nível até o topo do pódio. É nessa fórmula que a IBJJF realiza mais uma vez sue GP de Pesos Pesados em Las Vegas, que em 2019 será realizado no dia 24 de agosto, no Evexia Fit Fest.

Na última semana, a Federação Internacional confirmou João Gabreil Rocha para a última vaga do torneio que promete ser explosivo do início ao fim, por seu formato mata-mata.

Primeiro confirmado no evento, Marcus Buchecha, maior recordista nos Mundiais da IBJJF, busca confirmar sua hegemonia no mundo do Jiu-Jitsu. Bicampeão do ADCC e vice do absoluto em 2015, Buchecha também tem suas armas sem kimono. Outro confirmado é o americano Gordon Ryan. Craque das chaves de calcanhar, Gordon mostrou sua técnica nas regras da IBJJF no Pan Sem Kimono de 2018, no qual faturou ouro duplo. Se recuperando de lesão, Gordon pode ser dúvida para o torneio, mas segue na lista.

Bicampeão mundial sem kimono, Lucas Hulk foi o terceiro nome confirmado no GP. Vindo de grandes apresentações de pano com ritmo forte de competição, Hulk pode ser uma pedra no sapato de qualquer adversário. Em seguida, foi a vez de Yuri Simões entrar na lista. Bicampeão do ADCC (88 e 99kg) e campeão mundial sem kimono, Yuri tem no seu jogo de quedas afiado uma arma poderosa para brilhar no GP.

Depois, foi a vez de Leandro Lo ser confirmado na disputa. Campeão dos maiores torneio de kimono do mundo e considerado um dos melhores atletas do Jiu-Jitsu,Lo tem no currículo dois títulos brasileiros sem kimono, e com seu jogo imprevisível pode surpreender nos duelos sem pano. Logo depois tivemos Mahamed Aly confirmado. Campeão peso e absoluto do Europeu Sem Kimono na faixa-preta, Mahamed tem no seu jogo quedas de judô clássicas, muita precisão nas entradas na perna e um jogo de passagem de guarda fortíssimo.

Representando a GFTeam, Patrick Gáudio foi o sétimo escalado para o torneio. Vindo de grande atuação no Pan sem kimono da IBJJF, Patrick é conhecido por entregar tudo de sí até o último segundo de luta, fórmula essa que pode ser determinante para os duelos sem pano do GP de Pesados. E por último, no fechamento da lista, temos João Gabriel Rocha. Prata no absoluto do ADCC 2015, João vem com o moral em alta após bater Marcus Buchecha em superluta do BJJ Stars, além de estar afiado para atuar sem kimono após batalhar no Kasai e em outros eventos sem pano.

An evening of great jiu-jitsu went down with BJJ Stars’s Black Belt edition being held this Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Hebraica gymnasium in São Paulo. Both idols of the new generation and names already in the history books were present.

However, aside from the remarkable losses of Marcus Buchecha to João Gabriel Rocha and of Leandro Lo to Nicholas Meregali, the talk of the town was the main event. Felipe Preguiça and Erberth Santos began the match with a thick air of tension around them, and after an injury took place, Erberth went to confront a member of the audience and caused generalized turmoil among the spectators. In the end, Preguiça was deemed the tourney’s champion.

“All I can say is it was disgraceful,” said Fepa Lopes, who didn’t rule out taking legal action.

But, back to BJJ, here are some plays and the complete results:

Felipe Preguiça vs. Erberth Santos

Just past the 3-minute mark, Erberth felt his knee act up, and before being treated by the doctor, he ran to the audience, and a big commotion ensued. By the end, Felipe had been declared champion.

João Gabriel Rocha vs. Marcus Buchecha

In an eventful, fun match, João Gabriel Rocha earned one advantage as he tried to take Buchecha’s back and opened a lead of three advantages to zero — enough to win the superfight.

Nicholas Meregali vs. Leandro Lo

Nicholas and Leandro got the crowd going crazy in the second-to-last superfight from this edition of BJJ Stars. Six minutes in, Lo attempted a lob sweep, but Nicholas landed on his feet, causing the gymnasium to roar. With 30 seconds to go, the fight was tied, and then Meregali slid to Lo’s back, spread the chicken and went for the collar choke. Lo squirmed to escape, but the win belonged to the young talent from Alliance: 4-0. A BJJ spectacle.

Roberto Godoi vs. Renato Babalu

The crowd went crazy here too, in the six-minute match of legends, especially when Godoi swept to win by 2-0. Before the duel, organizer Fepa Lopes confirmed that this isn’t it for the promotion: BJJ Stars is set to take place October 2 in Manaus. And the first fight was announced: Saulo Ribeiro vs. Godoi.

Marco Barbosa vs. Wellington Megaton

Before his sizeable, enthusiastic mass of supporters, Barbosinha fought Megaton standing and on the ground for ten minutes, winning by 2-0 (penalties).

Isaque Bahiense vs. DJ Jackson

Isaque Bahiense beat DJ Jackson by decision and received his trophy from Bruno Malfacine.

Patrick Gaudio vs. Tim Spriggs

After some exciting back-and-forth at the start (when Spriggs almost mounted), Patrick Gaudio went on turbo mode, passed guard, got the back and ran the score up to 14-2. “With my daughter here, there was no way I was gonna lose,” said the GFTeam fighter, adding, “I’d like to ask the organizers for a fight with Erberth Santos next time.”

Delson Pé de Chumbo vs. Fernando Tererê

Pé de Chumbo put pressure on Tererê’s open guard, passed it at the three-minute mark, and finished on the neck from side control at four minutes. “I still feel like a kid,” he assured us.

Gabriel Rollo vs. Celsinho Venicius

Rollo managed a comeback win by three advantages to Celsinho’s two.

Bianca Basílio vs. Michelle Nicolini

Bia fell mounted on Nicolini five minutes in (7-0) and went to try to squeeze a kata-gatame. Nicolini did her best, defending well and reversing the position, but Bia kept her cool and her guard well protected. At the end of ten minutes, 9-2 on the board.

Ricardo Pingo vs. Carlos Eduardo

The first superfight saw Ricardo Pingo finish Carlos Eduardo via armbar at 7’43” after attempting a triangle and changing to an omoplata.

Super 8 GP

The first BJJ Stars belt went to Luis Marques, who beat Jurandir Conceição by one advantage by passing in the last seconds. After coming down from the platform, he sat away from the cameras and got emotional. “I hurt my shoulder and foot soon before the event and feared I wasn’t gonna be able to fight,” said Luis, who also beat Diogo Almeida in the quarterfinal stage and Paulo Procópio — whom he choked after scoring 28 points to zero — in the semifinal stage.

Noite de fortes emoções na edição Black Belt do BJJ Stars, realizado nesse sábado, dia 23 de fevereiro. O ginásio do Hebraica, em São Paulo, recebeu ídolos da nova geração e nomes que fizeram história no Jiu-Jitsu, em duelos eletrizantes.

Contudo, além das derrotas marcantes de Marcus Buchecha para João Gabriel Rocha e de Leandro Lo para Nicholas Meregali, o assunto mais comentado da noite foi a luta principal. Felipe Preguiça e Erberth Santos começaram o combate em clima tenso, e após uma lesão ocorrida na disputa, Erberth foi tirar satisfações com um integrante da plateia e criou uma confusão generalizada entre os espectadores do evento. No fim do tumulto, Preguiça foi declarado o campeão do torneio.

“Só posso dizer que foi lamentável”, disse Fepa Lopes que não descartou tomar medidas cabíveis.

Com pouco mais de 3min de luta, Erberth sentiu o joelho e, antes de ser atendido pelo médico, correu para o público e uma confusão se iniciou. Ao fim, a organização declarou Felipe campeão.

Em luta embolada porém divertida, João Gabriel Rocha conquistou 1 vantagem ao tentar pegar as costas de Marcus Buchecha e abriu 3 vantagens a 0, o suficiente para vencer a superluta.

Nicholas Meregali x Leandro Lo
Nicholas e Leandro deixaram a torcida insana no Hebraica, na antepenúltima superluta do BJJ Stars. Com 6min, Lo tentou a raspagem balão, mas Nicholas caiu em pé, causando furor. Restando 30 segundos, a luta ia empatada até que Meregali deslizou para as costas de Lo, espalhou o frango e partiu para o estrangulamento com a gola. Lo se desdobrou para escapar, mas a vitória era mesmo do jovem “Alemão” da Alliance: 4 a 0. Um espetáculo de Jiu-Jitsu.

Roberto Godoi x Renato Babalu
A torcida foi ao delírio no combate de seis minutos entre as lendas, em especial na hora em que Godoi raspou para vencer por 2 a 0. Antes do duelo, o organizador Fepa Lopes mostrou que o evento tem futuro: ele confirmou o BJJ Stars 2 em outubro, em Manaus. E já divulgaram a primeira luta: Saulo Ribeiro x Godoi.

Marco Barbosa x Wellington Megaton
Diante de sua numerosa e empolgada torcida, Barbosinha lutou com Megaton em pé e no chão por dez minutos, e no fim venceu por 2 a 0 (punições).

Com boas reviravoltas no início (quando Tim Spriggs quase montou), Patrick Gaudio ligou o turbo, passou a guarda, catou as costas e meteu 14 a 2. “Com minha filha aqui eu não podia perder”, disse a fera da GFTeam. “Queria pedir aos organizadores uma luta com o Erberth Santos na próxima”.

Pé de Chumbo pôs pressão na guarda aberta de Tererê, passou a guarda com 3min e finalizou no pescoço, do cem-quilos, aos 4min de combate. “Eu ainda me sinto um garoto”, garantiu.

Gabriel Rollo x Celsinho Venicius
Com casa lotada e o Hebraica já apinhado, Rollo vira luta por 3 vantagens a 2 (0 a 0 nos pontos) e sai vencedor contra Celsinho. “O evento está maravilhoso e espero que tenhamos outras edições”, disse Rollo, “pois o Jiu-Jitsu ganha com isso”.

Bia caiu montada em Nicolini com 5 minutos de luta (7 a 0), e partiu para o arrocho no kata-gatame. Nicolini se segurou como podia, defendeu bem e inverteu a luta, mas Bia manteve a tranquilidade e a guarda bem protegida. No fim dos 10min regulamentares, 9 a 2 nos pontos.

Na primeira luta do supercard, Ricardo Pingo finalizou Carlos Eduardo na chave de braço aos 7min43s, após tentar o triângulo e variar para a omoplata.

BJJ Stars will feature a number of big fights on Feb. 23 in São Paulo. In one of these, Soul Fighters’s João Gabriel Rocha will be tasked with the mission of beating Marcus Buchecha.

To João, facing Buchecha has already turned into a classic — in 2018 they fought twice, and there were two fights before that, with Buchecha always coming out on top. Which is why, this time around, João is planning on a different approach. Read on to see what he told Graciemag.

GRACIEMAG.com: What are your thoughts on BJJ Stars in general?

JOÃO GABRIEL: The event is wonderful in terms of card and infrastructure. It doesn’t owe anything to any international event — very well organized, and it is very good to have this type of event in Brazil. Nowadays everybody is abroad; the adult black-belts who compete at a high level are no longer in Brazil, so the public in Brazil misses seeing a big event like this one. The main names fight in tournaments like the Worlds, Pan, Euros, as well as the tournaments with superfights, and they are all outside Brazil. BJJ Stars is coming to shake up the Brazilian market, which is getting better. I think, in fact, that people have to show their support by buying tickets or pay-per-view, because it’s a way to support the sport. If the event manages to turn a profit, we’ll have more events of this type.

How did you get invited to BJJ Stars, and what was your reaction upon finding out you would again face Buchecha?

I was in Brazil, and Fepa Lopes contacted me to learn whether I would be available to fight on that date. I was immediately excited for the simple fact of being able to fight in Brazil; I didn’t even know my opponent yet. I miss fighting in Brazil, so I practically said yes just for that alone. Soon after, the talked to me and said it would be Buchecha. I accepted right away, because it’s a fight that interests me greatly, and I jumped on the chance to do two camps consecutively.

You two have been rivals for years and have always fought tough matches. What new thing are you bringing to the table this time?

To be frank, I haven’t changed almost anything to fight Buchecha, but I have a reason for this. Each time we fight each other, the fight gets more even, being decided in the details. The last two, for example, went to the judges. We have fought a few times and he had his arm raised in every one of them, but I’m very focused right now, feeling like I’m getting closer each time, and I know I’m almost there — I will overcome this detail and throw down, do what I know and play the game. He who is able to put his cards on the table first will come out the winner.

What is different about living and training in the U.S., and how has is made you better than before?

People here don’t fall for distractions. We get distracted very easily in our culture. Example: going to the gym on foot. You stop to talk to a friend on the street, shoot the breeze and end up arriving late. You don’t do your warm-up right, or you train less than you should. Here in the U.S., there’s none of that. Everybody is on time and with a desire to do everything just right, to respect the school’s norms. The focus is greater here — you go from training home and then straight back the next day. Everything is improved. The BJJ lifestyle is at a hundred percent, no distractions. It’s not a bad thing to be with the people we like, but here I focus completely on living the sport.

What sort of danger do you see Buchecha conjuring up?

The danger is fighting Buchecha in general. Everybody stresses his standup game, but when he’s pulling, it’s also hard to pass. He’s good in all areas, and it’s very hard to fight an opponent of that stature. He has 11 world titles — four of them by getting past me — so there’s nowhere to run.

What do you predict?

In the past I have both put a strategy in place and not put a strategy in place to face Buchecha, and so far it didn’t work out any of the times. Lately I understood that what I have to do is focus on my game, my preparation. It’s complicated to draw a strategy, visualize a scenario and, during the fight, have to change everything. So, due to the unpredictability, I prefer to do my thing and be prepared for everything during the match.

O BJJ Stars chega recheado de grandes duelos no dia 23 de fevereiro, no ginásio do Hebráica, contando com vários craques do Jiu-Jitsu mundial em duelos eletrizantes. Em uma dessas batalhas, o atleta da Sloul Fighters João Gabriel Rocha terá a missão de bater o recordista de títulos mundiais na faixa-preta Marcus Buchecha.

Para João, encarar Buchecha já se tornou um clássico: Só em 2018 eles se enfrentaram duas vezes, e em outras ocasiões anteriores eles já mediram forças, sempre com Buchecha na vantagem. Para desequilibrar a disputa ao seu favor desta vez, porém, João terá uma abordagem diferente.

“Na hora da luta terei de estar preparado para tudo. Ele é bom em todas as áreas e é muito difícil lutar contra um adversário desse porte, mas a cada vez que nós nos enfrentamos a luta fica mais parelha, sendo decidida nos detalhes. As últimas duas, por exemplo, foram na decisão dos árbitros. Estou bem focado, me sentindo cada vez mais próximo e sei que falta pouco, vou superar esse detalhe e sair na porrada.”

JOÃO GABRIEL: O evento está maravilhoso em termos de card e infraestrutura. Não perde para nenhum evento internacional, muito bem organizado e é muito bom ter esse tipo de evento no Brasil. Hoje em dia todo mundo está fora, os faixas-pretas do adulto que competem em alto nível não estão mais no Brasil, então o público do Brasil fica carente de ver um evento grande assim. Os principais nomes lutam torneios como o Mundial, Pan, Europeu, além dos torneios de superlutas, e são todos fora do Brasil. O BJJ Stars chega para movimentar o mercado do Brasil, que está ficando melhor. Acho, inclusive, que a galera tem que apoiar na compra de ingressos ou pay-per-view, porque é uma forma de apoiar o esporte. Se o evento conseguir lucrar vamos ter mais eventos desse tipo.

Como foi o chamado para o BJJ Stars e qual foi a sua reação ao saber que enfrentaria mais uma vez o Marcus Buchecha?
Estava no Brasil e o Fepa Lopes me contatou pra saber se eu teria disponibilidade para lutar nessa data. Já fiquei amarradão pelo simples fato de poder lutar no Brasil, ainda nem sabia qual era o adversário. Sinto falta de lutar no Brasil, então já praticamente topei só por isso. Logo em seguida, ele veio conversar e falou que seria o Buchecha. Aceitei de cara, porque é uma luta que me interessa muito e não tive dúvidas ao topar o desafia para emendar um camp no outro.

Vocês são adversários há anos, e sempre travaram batalhas duras. O que o João tem de novo para trazer pro jogo desta vez?
Para ser bem sincero eu não mudei quase nada para enfrentar o Buchecha, mas eu tenho um motivo para isso. A cada vez que nós nos enfrentamos a luta fica mais parelha, sendo decidida nos detalhes. As últimas duas, por exemplo, foram na decisão dos árbitros. Já lutamos algumas vezes e ele saiu com o braço levantado em todas, mas eu estou bem focado, me sentindo cada vez mais próximo e sei que falta pouco, vou superar esse detalhe e sair na porrada, fazer o que eu sei e jogar o jogo. Quem conseguir botar as cartas na mesa primeiro vai sair vitorioso.

Qual a diferença de morar e treinar nos EUA no que isso te fez melhor que outrora?
O pessoal aqui não tem distração. A gente se distrai muito fácil na nossa cultura, exemplo: ir par a academia a pé. Você para pra conversar com um amigo na rua, troca uma ideia e acaba chegando atrasado. Não faz o aquecimento direito, ou treina menos do que deveria. Aqui nos EUA não tem isso. Todo mundo chega no horário e com muita vontade de fazer tudo certinho, respeitar as normas da academia. O foco aqui é maior, do treino para casa e de casa para o treino. Tudo melhora, o lifestyle do Jiu-Jitsu está 100%, sem distração alguma. Não é ruim estar com as pessoas que a gente gosta, mas aqui eu foco totalmente em viver o esporte.

Qual o maior perigo que o Buchecha pode trazer para esta luta?
O perigo é lutar com o Buchecha no geral. Todo mundo ressalta o jogo em pé dele, mas ele puxando também é complicado de passar. Ele é bom em todas as áreas e é muito difícil lutar contra um adversário desse porte. Ele tem 11 títulos mundiais, quatro deles passando por mim, então não tem pra onde correr.

Qual a sua previsão pro combate? Tem uma estratégia montada para encarar a fera?
Eu já fiz estratégia e já não fiz estratégia para enfrentar o Buchecha, e até agora não deu certo em nenhuma das vezes. De uns tempos para cá eu entendi que eu tenho mais é que focar no meu jogo, na minha preparação. É complicado traçar uma estratégia, visualizar um cenário e na hora da luta ter que mudar tudo. Então, pela imprevisibilidade eu prefiro fazer o meu e na hora da luta estar preparado para tudo.

Realizado no último sábado, dia 2 de fevereiro, o Kasai Super Series, evento extra realizado pela organização do Kasai Pro, colocou nomes de expressão do Jiu-Jitsu internacional frente a frente, em duelos com e sem kimono, na cidade de Dallas, no Texas.

Na luta principal, o badalado Gordon Ryan encarou João Gabriel Rocha em duelo sem kimono. A luta correu em seus 10min iniciais sem contagem de pontos, onde só a finalização definiria a disputa. A etapa foi eletrizante, com lances de perigo para ambos os lados. Ao fim, um tempo extra de 5min foi realizado, com regras da IBJJF, e foi nesse lance que a estrela de Gordon brilhou: Com um ataque na sua temida chave de calcanhar, o americano contabilizou o ponto necessário para garantir a vitória.

Outra chave de calcanhar que foi determinante no evento foi a de Renato Canuto. Em duelo sem kimono contra Marcio André, a fera da Checkmat segurou as pernas de Marcinho, tentou com afinco a chave de pé reta, mas acabou por variar para o calcanhar e conseguiu a finalização.

Gordon Ryan and Joao Gabriel Rocha weighting in a Kasai Super Series Dallas with Rolles Gracie

On the heels of the success from Kasai Pro 4 in November, Kasai Grappling is expanding throughout the United States, their first stop is Dallas. They picked this as the start of their tour due to the burgeoning Jiu Jitsu community in the area.

Since this is the “Super Series” there won’t be a tournament, as we have seen in previous shows – only Super Fights this time. The card is stacked with talents from around the country. The Main superfights are 10 minutes sub only plus 5 minutes of Kasai rules.

Another superfight between giants of BJJ has been scheduled for 2019, as part of an event series that will be making its debut. On Feb. 2 in Dallas, Texas, Kasai Pro, which is organized by black-belt Rolles Gracie, will be holding the Kasai Super Series, whose card will feature a superfight between João Gabriel Rocha and Gordon Ryan.

The no-gi match marks the encounter of two absolute ADCC runner-ups (João in 2015 and Ryan in 2017), and it will be under Kasai rules, with ankle locks allowed. We spoke to João Gabriel of Soul Fighters, and he gave us more details.

“Since the fight already has a date, the plan is to stay in Rio training until the end of January,” he told Marcelo Dunlop of Graciemag. “The event has plans to be held at the American Airlines Arena, in Dallas, the city I live in here in the U.S.

“What Gordon has as a weapon and that brings me the most tension, no doubt, is the heel hook. He attacks well in this position, and we traditional BJJ competitors aren’t used to using it, since it’s not allowed under IBJJF rules. In the rules I’m gonna be fighting Gordon under, you may cross inwards, spin in the opposite direction of the foot — rules similar to the ADCC. But otherwise, even if he’s good in other aspects, like finishes with the guillotine and others, I’m already used to all that, prepared for such situations.

“I will be splitting my training between Tatu BJJ, to sharpen my ground game, and Nova União in Flamengo to adjust my wrestling with my brother and the Brazilian wrestling national team, which trains over there. Lots of physical preparation as well, because the fight is set to take 15 minutes and I have to have my stamina up to par. I will be bringing other professionals along to help me, but my camp will be in those two gyms, and maybe another one during the process.”
