No dia 2 de julho de 2023, a cidade de Nova Hartz, no Rio Grande do Sul, sediou a Copa Jiu-Jitsu Tribe, um evento dedicado a atletas de projetos sociais, com idades de 4 a 17 anos. Com a presença de quase 500 competidores, o evento se destacou pela sua grandiosidade e pelo propósito nobre de promover o desenvolvimento pessoal e social dessas crianças e jovens em situação de vulnerabilidade social.

Solidariedade em ação:

A Copa Jiu-Jitsu Tribe foi além da competição esportiva, pois também teve um importante aspecto social. Durante o evento, foram servidos 350 almoços de alta qualidade, oferecidos gratuitamente aos competidores de projetos. Além disso, o evento arrecadou 450 kg de alimentos, que foram destinados a projetos sociais locais, contribuindo para suprir as necessidades das comunidades mais carentes. Essa ação solidária demonstra o comprometimento da organização em ajudar aqueles que mais precisam.

Premiações de destaque:

Para tornar o evento ainda mais especial, os competidores foram agraciados com medalhas da Metalvest, uma empresa brasileira reconhecida nacional e internacionalmente pela qualidade de seus produtos. Essa premiação de alto nível proporcionou aos atletas uma experiência enriquecedora, incentivou e reconheceu o esforço e a dedicação de cada um deles.

Reconhecimento aos líderes sociais:

A Metalvest, em parceria com a empresa de kimonos BRAUS Fight, homenageou 19 líderes de projetos sociais com lindas placas. Essa iniciativa valorizou o trabalho desses profissionais, que dedicam seu tempo e esforço para impactar positivamente a vida de crianças e jovens em situação de vulnerabilidade social. Essa homenagem representa o reconhecimento merecido a esses verdadeiros heróis que contribuem para a construção de uma sociedade mais justa.

Jiu-Jitsu Tribe e seu impacto social:

A Jiu-Jitsu Tribe é uma ONG cofundada em 2010 pelo faixa preta sexto grau do mestre André Pederneiras, Gustavo Dantas. Seu principal objetivo é utilizar o jiu-jitsu como ferramenta de desenvolvimento pessoal e social para crianças e jovens em projetos sociais em situação de vulnerabilidade. A organização possui três vertentes: o trabalho voltado à saúde mental nos Estados Unidos; a sustentabilidade de projetos sociais; e o recém-criado Instituto Jiu-Jitsu Tribe, um centro de desenvolvimento pessoal com atividades físicas, cujo carro-chefe é o Jiu-Jitsu.

Papel do Instituto Jiu-Jitsu Tribe:

O líder do Instituto Jiu-Jitsu Tribe, localizado em Nova Hartz, é o faixa preta Leandro “Léo” Gonzaga. Além de promover eventos de alta qualidade para atletas de projetos sociais que muitas vezes não têm acesso, o objetivo principal do instituto é levantar fundos para garantir sua sustentabilidade. A partir de janeiro de 2024, o instituto iniciará aulas de educação socioemocional, educação financeira e oficinas profissionalizantes.

“Eu tenho o privilégio de viajar pelo Brasil conhecendo projetos sociais, e por Indicação do meu amigo José Luís, do Jiu-Jitsu na Estrada, eu conheci o trabalho do Léo. Um líder comunitário Incrível, e por causa do trabalho dele a nossa organização escolheu a cidade de Nova Hartz para ser a base da nossa organização no país. O “Léo” é o cara!”, diz Dantas.

The open class division put Osvaldo Moizinho and Marcel Fortuna face to face for the final.

Moizinho fought twice before the gold medal match while Fortuna had one fight, when he defeated Nathan Mendelsohn 4-0.

Moizinho’s semifinal was against Eliot Kelly and the athlete from Caio Terra won 3-2 on advantages.

In the big final, Osvaldo Moizinho disregarded the weight difference and won by one advantage for a foot lock in the very end.

Caio Terra Association also won the all the other male open class divisions: Blue – Benjamin Silva, Purple – Ryan Walsh, Brown – Manny Diaz.

The other black belt champions were:

Feather: Samir Chantre defeated Joel Scovel twice for the gold.

Light: Osvaldo Moizinho outscored Lance Glynn 7-0 for the title.

Medium-heavy: Nathan Mendelsohn beat Rahlan Gracie on points in a single match  and then closed out the division with Raul Castillo, keeping the gold medal.

Super-heavy: Marcel Fortuna defeated Eliot Kelly on advantages.

The final teams results for the Adult male division were:

1. Caio Terra Association – 125

2. Coalition 95 – 73

3. Raplh Gracie Academy – 45

4. Kaijin – 22

5. Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu – 20

As young as 4 years old and going all the way up to teenagers, the little ones showcased a lot of talent and heart.

The teams results for the Kids divison were: 1. Coalition 95 – 206pts; 2. Guerrila JJ – 164pts; 3. Crosley Gracie Team – 115pts.

The day ended with the adult and master purple belt divisions.

Caio Terra Association’s Ryan Walsh and Kaniela Kahuanui closed out the adult open class with Walsh taking gold.
