The much anticipated showdown between top teams Alliance and Atos has already begun after the very first day of the 2014 World Championship on May 29 inside the Long Beach Walter Pyramid in California. The two teams scattered the results page as the white belts for male and female, male blue belts and two purple belt male divisions established initial team scores.

So far the points for the male adult team category are as follows:

1 – Alliance – 38
2 – Atos Jiu-Jitsu – 37
3 – GF Team – 19

And for the adult female team category:

1 – Atos Jiu-Jitsu – 16
2 – Gracie Barra – 14
3 – Gracie Elite Team – 13

The white belts ended the day in the novice team category as follows:

1 – Alliance – 21
2 – Atos Jiu-Jitsu – 16
3 – Gracie Barra – 15

In some cases, members of the same team fought each other rather than closing out. Often times the athletes will let teammates pass whether they train with them every day or not. In the blue belt light-featherweight category, Mason Monsevais under the Mendes brothers at Art of Jiu-Jitsu Academy met Pablo Mantovani Dutra under Gustavo Campos in the final. Another Atos match-up came in the featherweight category between Ruben Coranado under Andre Galvao at Atos in San Diego, CA and Spencer Nogawa also under the Mendes brothers at Art of Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Spencer was able to take the win by points and also defeat another Atos member in the final, Pedro Oliveira Crixel also under Gustavo Campos, for the gold.

Age was more than just a number as many newly crowned world champions are also too young to be considered an adult. Mikey Musumeci conquered the purple belt light-featherweight category at seventeen and was even promoted to brown belt by Guilherme Mendes on the podium. Another young one is Luan Gustavo Frasson of Zenith BJJ who won the blue belt lightweight category at the age of seventeen. Spencer Nogawa is a bit older at the age of eighteen.

O Campeonato Europeu de Jiu-Jitsu é o mais novo dos quatro grandes campeonatos que compõem o grand slam do Jiu-Jitsu. Em 2013, ainda assim, será o décimo evento em Lisboa.

O Europeu, que nasceu em 2004 com 300 participantes, já passa dos 2 mil lutadores anualmente. E o campeonato do ano que vem já está marcado. Será em janeiro, do dia 24 ao 27, novamente no Complexo Municipal do Casal Vistoso, na capital de Portugal.

As inscrições já estão abertas no IBJJF.org e vão até o dia 16 de janeiro.

Leandro Lo Nascimento is becoming synonym of Copa Podio.

After winning the Lightweight GP, in 2011, Cicero Costha´s student did great in Middleweight
GP, Saturday evening, in Rio de Janeiro.

Opening the evening, Michael Langhi defeated Claudio Caloquinha in a very balanced
superfight.

In the GP, Lo classified along with Dimitrius Souza (Alliance) in the yellow group.

In the green group, Davi Ramos (Atos) and Ricardo Bastos (Nova União) got their places in the semifinals.

In the semifinals, Lo scored 8-2 against Ricardo Bastos, while the new star Dimitrius Souza defeated Davi Ramos and went to the finals.

First, however, Guto Campos made the second super-fight against Rafael Abi-Rihan.

Campos was the victorious, thanks to an armbar that caught and hurt Abi-Rihan.

In the finals, Leandro Lo defeated Dimitrius to win his second GP!

Davi Ramos defeated Ricardo Bastos and got the third place.

Copa Podio returns by the end of the year for the heavyweight GP.

Além de Braulio Estima e o atual campeão Tarsis Humphreys, o convite também foi feito a Celsinho Venicius, Gabriel Vella, Alexandre Souza, Gustavo Campos, Bruno Frazatto e o búlgaro Blagoy Ivanov.

Ivanov é o faixa-preta de sambo que derrotou o astro Fedor Emelianenko no Mundial da modalidade, em 2008.

Outro convidado foi Rubens Charles Cobrinha, que luta o Pan uma semana antes e não se sabe se vai poder ir.
