Com Cléber Machado e o comentarista Junior Cigano na transmissão ao vivo da rede Globo, a expectativa era por uma apresentação redentora do brasileiro Lyoto Machida, de 37 anos, no UFC Flórida. Mas não deu.

Com uma fúria indomável e uma queda precisa dos tempos da luta olímpica, o cubano Yoel Romero, 38 anos, medalhista de prata em Sydney-2000, quedou Machida e nocauteou o karateca brasileiro com três cotoveladas medonhas, no terceiro round.

Mas o clima da transmissão não foi só um grande Brasil x Paraguai. Antonio Carlos “Cara de Sapato” mostrou seu valor, agora no peso médio, e usou o mata-leão no terceiro assalto para liquidar a luta com o jamaicano Eddie Gordon.

Outro destaque foi Thiago Marreta, que nocauteeou com um lindo chute alto na cabeça do canadense Steve Bossé, aos 29s de luta.

Herói dos cinemas e dos malhadores, Arnold Schwarzenegger, 67 anos, veio ao Rio de Janeiro para promover seu evento, a Arnold Classic Brazil.

Quase setentão, o ex-governador da Califórnia analisou sua rotina de exercícios e garantiu que continua seguindo uma alimentação balanceada.

Arnold estará presente em sua feira fitness, a partir desta sexta-feira, 27 de maio, no Riocentro.

Em entrevista ao “Globo”, o ator de Hollywood falou sobre seus treinos e distribuiu lições de exercícios, saúde e sucesso.

1. Quer ter disposição? Treine!

“Malho pelo menos cinco vezes por semana, quando as viagens de trabalho permitem. Sou viciado em exercícios. Preciso acordar de manhã e manter a disposição para o resto do dia”, ensinou.

2. Tente outra vez

“Nunca perca o foco. Essa é a regra número um. Nos esportes, a gente cai, mas levanta e tenta de novo”, conta Arnold.

3. O sucesso

“Qual é o segredo do sucesso? É ter uma visão clara do caminho que quer percorrer. Segundo uma pesquisa, 74% do povo americano estão insatisfeitos com o que fazem, e isso acontece porque não dedicaram tempo a pensar sobre suas paixões na vida, quando jovens. Isso não é filosofia de político. É uma questão de saber o que se quer e manter-se fiel ao seu plano”.

Não são apenas os fãs e amantes de MMA que estão torcendo pelo pronto retorno do ídolo Anderson Silva. Para a TV Globo, o ex-campeão dos médios do UFC também já está deixando saudades.

De acordo com a jornalista Keila Jimenez, colunista da “Folha de São Paulo”, a exibição da revanche de Anderson contra Chris Weidman e a contusão do brasileiro, na madrugada de 28 para 29 de dezembro, renderam, mesmo com o atraso em relação à luta ao vivo, 15 pontos de audiência no Ibope. Trata-se de um crescimento de 11 pontos em relação ao horário nos quatro sábados anteriores.

Como cada ponto equivale a 62 mil lares na grande São Paulo, calcula-se que a luta tenha sido vista por bem mais de 930 mil telespectadores curiosos, já que cada TV é assistida por uma ou mais pessoas. O UFC 168 foi assistido, ainda, por centenas de milhares de fãs que viram ao vivo pelo sistema pay-per-view.

Next Wednesday, José Aldo will attend the party announcing the movie about his life. And according to the “Gente Boa” column in “O Globo” newspaper, the producers have already cast the actor to play the Manaus native who arrived in Rio de Janeiro without a penny to his name, only to become UFC champion. Malvino Salvador will play Aldo in the cinema.

It’s not the first time the actor, currently in primetime telanovela “Fina Estampa”, plays the part of a fighter. Malvino practices boxing, getting his start in Rio de Janeiro under Coach Raff Giglio. He has been a martial arts lover ever since.

Na próxima quarta-feira, José Aldo vai estar presente na festa que anuncia o filma que vai contar a sua vida. E, segundo a coluna “Gente Boa”, do jornal “O Globo”, já é conhecido o nome de quem vai encenar a vida do lutador, que veio de Manaus para o Rio de janeiro sem um tostão para ser campeão do UFC. Malvino Salvador é o escolhido.

Não é a primeira vez que o ator, que atualmente participa da novela “Fina Estampa”, a partir das 21h na rede Globo, faz o papel de lutador. Praticante de boxe, Malvino teve início na modalidade com o professor Raff Giglio, no Rio. Desde então, se mostra um apaixonado pelas artes marciais.

The number 14 seems to be stalking Anderson Silva. Having beaten Okami on Saturday, his string of back-to-back wins in the UFC now comes to 14. It was on October 14, 2006, that he won the belt, never to be disposessed of it. And, at UFC Rio, his fight carried Rede TV! television network to overtake all-powerful Globo network in the ratings for a precious 14 minutes, with the greatest average audience ever achieved by the São Paulo-based network. Numerology or coincidence, Globo is already lacing up its gloves to make sure this last 14 doesn’t get repeated.

As published today by journalist Daniel Castro on R7 website, Globo now has its eyes on the profits generated by the UFC and should be getting ready to make a major investment to strip its rival of Dana White’s event. Rede has already set about preparing its defense. Network president Amilcare Dallevo Junior had dinner with Dana White and confirmed that they have priority in renewing their contract, which expires in December, but Globo is promising to invest heavily.

“Globo already studied the possibility of broadcasting the UFC last year, when the Brazil installment of the event was confirmed. There are departments within the network pushing for footage of UFC fights to be aired on the Corujão do Esporte sports show that runs late night on Saturday nights,” reported Castro.

Globo’s plan is to get in on the UFC’s promise to hold at least four events in Brazil – two in the the first half of the year and two in the latter half. At least two of them should be in UFN format, with aspiring fighters on the main card.

“By holding four UFCs in the country the broadcast rights become more costly, which favors Globo. By the same token, a partnership with Globo would lend the UFC greater exposure, which is of the promoters’ interest,” argues the journalist.

Broadcasting only the last fights of a UFC card is reminiscent of the end of the 1980s, when Globo put its money on a standoout fighter to excite the late night audience, often with Brazil’s number one commentator, Galvão Bueno, doing the commentating. That fighter was Mike Tyson, the greatest heavyweight boxer at the time.

“Fina Estampa,” the next prime time soap opera on Brazil’s most popular television network, TV Globo, will feature a UFC fighter as a character. The news was released by author Aguinaldo Silva in Joaquim Ferreira dos Santos’s “Gente Boa” column in the Saturday edition of O Globo newspaper.

“I’ve been watching the UFC ever since the Gracie’s were unbeatable,” said Aguinaldo, showing he knows his stuff. “I was going to put a soccer player in there, but who could stand that? I picked up on the male audience’s obsession with fighting. I did some research and then changed the whole story around.”

Little did Aguinaldo know that Rio de Janeiro’s female community gets together to watch the UFC and knows more than most fanboys. . .

Asked in the column about who will play the fighter, the screenwriter said: “Wolf Maia (director) suggested Rodrigo Santoro. If his commitments abroad don’t get in the way. . .”

If they get in the way, then Cauã Reymond, a Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, enters the fray, along with some other big names in the Brazilian media.

Promotional president Dana White, one of those most responsible for the UFC’s explosion around the world, was the featured interviewee in Brazilian newspaper O Globo’s Sunday edition.

Dana didn’t release any further information regarding UFC Rio, nor did he reveal any major news, but he was inspired. Asked why MMA drew such audiences, for example, he gave the following response to reporters Ary Cunha and Luiz Filipe Barboza:

“I’m not quite sure. I do truly believe – even without proof – that fighting was the world’s first sport. Before man pushing a circle with a stick or throwing a ball into a circle, two men stood before each other on a surface, one threw a punch in the other’s face and other people came over to watch.”

Dana White also took the opportunity to galvanize Brazilian fans for UFC Rio.

“You like watching the UFC on TV? You find it exciting? Well then, wait till you see the show live. It’s the most exciting sporting event there is. Folks will explode with joy from the show we’re putting together for Rio,” he said.

(In exchange, the governors could reciprocate by taking White to see a game at the Maracanã, but unfortunately, it can’t be done. Our soccer stadium, poor thing, has been knocked out by repairs.

Na atual edição, a BBB Maria Melio também representa a luta. Depois de levar belos tombos na prova que garantiria imunidade e a liderança da semana na casa, comentou: “Cara, quando caia fazia igual no Jiu-Jitsu. Não machucou nada.”

GRACIEMAG.com logo descobriu, através de Antonio Peinado, que a participante do reality, que também já figurou como ring girl do evento de MMA Jungle Fight, realmente treina. É faixa-branca da Alliance, aluna e Fabio Gurgel. Talvez por isso tantos atletas do time comentem sobre o programa no Twitter. Feras como Bruno Malfacine e Gabi Garcia, além de Peinado, são alguns deles.

Sobre a disputa comentada por Maria, um dos maiores micos na história do programa. A prova foi cancelada em duas oportunidades, ao vivo na Globo, pois os aparatos para a mesma quebraram. Irado, o diretor do programa, Boninho, esbravejou pelo Twitter:

“Que dia! No fim cortei umas cabeças, além do meu pulso! (Rsrsrs) Amanhã bem cedo vou pro muay thai descarregar!”, postou @boninho.
