A missão, no entanto, está longe de ser fácil para o campeão de Jiu-Jitsu. Estreante no evento e em casa, Murphy tem sólida carreira na arte suave, no wrestling e, assim como Bruno, apenas uma controversa derrota por decisão dos jurados no cartel. A expectativa é que a lute reserve momentos de grande técnica no chão.

“Hoje, por não ser mais estreia, estou ainda mais confiante. Vou com tudo para essa luta para conseguir esse objetivo que é lutar pelo título”, afirmou Frazatto.

O lutador dividiu seu camp para luta entre o Brasil e os Estados Unidos. Foram quatro semanas na Team Nogueira Campinas e outras oito em Los Angeles na Black House, onde treina MMA e na Art of Jiu Jitsu Academy, com os irmãos Mendes. O jogo de chão ganhou um aliado especial: Rafa Mendes, tricampeão mundial no peso-pena, tem ajudado Bruno a melhorar ainda mais a técnica.

“O camp da primeira luta foi excelente e o resultado veio rápido. Me sinto mais confortável no cage, a gente ganha mais experiência com o tempo. Daqui pra frente só tem a melhorar”, disse.

As informações, veiculadas no MMA Hour, foram divulgadas por Ed Soares, empresário de Anderson, e este especulou alguns nomes para o retorno do ex-campeão peso médio aos cages:

“Michal Bisping e Cung Lee são opções. Também temos o Nick Diaz, que já disse publicamente que gostaria de enfrentar o Anderson. São dois atletas de ponta com ótimo boxe, seria uma ótima luta”, disse Ed, que prevê o retorno de Anderson para 2015 sem descartar uma volta rápida ainda em 2014, caso o atleta esteja pronto.

Nick Diaz, conhecido por sua língua afiada, disse que voltaria de sua anunciada aposentadoria para enfrentar dois adversários: GSP e Anderson. O encrenqueiro disse, ao UFC Tonight, que um combate contra Anderson seria ideal para seu retorno ao UFC, mas se fosse paga a certa quantia para o combate. Ed Soares, manager to Anderson Silva and other high-profile fighters, went on FOX L.A. on recently and talked about regional MMA promotion, the RFA. But it was his comment on his fighter that made the biggest impact in the interview.

Soares said that in a fight between Silva and Jon Jones, “Spider” is still the favorite. Obviously Soares is going to say that because he’s Silva’s representation, but it’s still interesting because the fighter is 38 years old and has little, if any, peak years left.

LAS VEGAS — When reports of Anderson Silva signing a 10-fight deal with the UFC first surfaced, it let the collective MMA world that the consensus greatest fighter of all time found himself a home for the rest of his career.

For UFC President Dana White, it sealed the deal on keeping what has been a hot and cold relationship with arguably his most famous fighter.

Oh, the fun of dealing with a superstar.

“We have that crazy relationship with Anderson,” White told reporters at a UFC media function during UFC 160 fight week. “But he’s a fun guy.”

The craziness that White referred to will now likely go on until Silva decides to hang up his gloves, leaving behind a legacy filled with knockouts, submissions and many more memories caged in the Octagon.

The word “crazy” runs in the same circles as the term “commitment,” which is something Silva’s manager, Ed Soares, said their camp wanted to show to the UFC.

Originally offered an eight-fight contract in their most recent negotiations, Soares and his business partner, Jorge Guimaraes, went to UFC executives and said they’ll see their eight fights and raise them two.

Camp Silva, the manager explained, offered to sign on for 10 fights in an effort to show their devotion to the mixed martial arts leader.

“The dealing was … to show our commitment to them,” Soares told GRACIEMAG.com at UFC 160 Media Day, adding, “and they stepped up and showed their commitment to us.”

The contract negotiations, Soares said, had parts that went back and forth before the deal was finalized. Like any contract, it’s not all black and white — that is, apart from the ink and paper, of course.

And now it’s all done, according to all interested parties. Silva’s career is locked into the UFC, and the 38-year-old won’t be going anywhere else to showcase his talents.

Where would Silva go, anyway? That’s a question White posted to those wondering, giving an answer just a moment after.

“He wants to be here,” said the UFC boss. “Why would he not want to be here? He’s doing OK.”

And by “doing OK,” White means Silva and his camp are happy with what they were offered and will receive over the next 10 fights. There’s no doubt about it from either side of the asylum.

“Yeah,” Soares said when asked if they were happy with the deal they got with Silva’s new contract. “Very happy.”

The firm rejection from the teammates managed by Jorge Guimarães and Ed Soares infuriated a number of those wanting to see it happen, even UFC president Dana White.

Anderson is still the champ, while Lyoto is training hard to recover his throne. But there are still many out there who want to see the two go at it.

One who always stood out on the mats, a world champion of Jiu-Jitsu, André Galvão seeks the same success in MMA. However, the black belt suffered a painful setback on the way to his objective. Coming off a win over Jorge Patino two months ago, Galvão was unrecognizable against the undefeated Tyron Woodley at last weekend’s Strikeforce event. The poor performance cost him in suffering a knockout for the first time in his career and delays his dream of capturing the promotional belt.

In the following conversation with GRACIEMAG.com, the fighter comments on his mistakes and the big lesson derived from the trying moment he faces.

I read on Twitter that you didn’t prepare properly. Is that correct?

Tyron did everything just right and is to be congratulated. But what we do in training reflects in the fight. I accepted this matchup on four weeks notice. I’d just fought Macaco and was totally unfocused, taking care of my gym. Ed Soares (his manager) called me and I accepted right there and then. I feel I should have had outside advice. If I’d spoken with my coaches in Brazil, like Distak and Rogério Camões… If I’d spoken with Jacaré, Feijão or Anderson… I’m sure they’d have told me not to fight. But I ended up embracing the idea.

Did your move to the USA hinder you? Was this last fight too short after your fight with Macaco?

I thought I’d be ready. But as the weeks went by, I realized I wasn’t. I wasn’t at weight and couldn’t sleep right. I don’t have a house here in the USA yet and am sleeping a friend’s place. My thoughts were on finding a home, being far from my family, and on personal problems. I know saying that after the fact draws criticism and Tyron deserves his due credit, of course. But this sort of stuff influences the fight. I confess I was disappointed. Two weeks away from the fight, I was close to calling my manager to say I wasn’t well. But I said I’d fight and did.

What was it like in the cage? What did you think of Tyron?

Tyron hits hard, but I don’t know if my being in such a bad state got in the way of my recovering from the punch. I don’t remember anything after the first punch. What you all saw me do I did on automatic pilot. He was one of the options as opponent for the Macaco fight, but he didn’t accept. I feel that’s what makes the difference. He’s doing things right, fighting once every five months. There has to be an interval between fights, at least three months. Anyone who trains knows that the ideal training camp lasts eight to nine weeks, at least. It was a mistake; I hope I don’t repeat it.

What’s the big lesson you derive from all this?

I feel the big lesson… There were many. I have to be near my family; I’ve been away from them for two months. I have to be with the right coaches. I was at Brandon Vera’s academy for three weeks, a great team, but the guys there didn’t know my game. And, very importantly, to say no. In MMA we’re always in there to win. Losses happen, of course, but I don’t need to go making it easy for bad luck to happen. I should have said no to this fight.

Now in the USA, how are you going to program your training?

The truth is it’s much easier to work in Brazil. But I made this decision and I have my gym here. Now Minotauro’s going to have a training center here and, if it seems right, I’ll end my training camp in Brazil. Anderson, Distak, Jacaré, Feijão, Corvo… Those are guys I trust and who motivate me. Training in Brazil is different. But I’m going to go after the best here to train with. I’m going to seek out the best trainers and take care of my gym. Everything will be fine. I have faith in God; I feel it was a learning experience, and I’m still in the hunt for the belt. That’s my dream and I’m going after it.
