O faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu Caio Magalhães deve retornar à jaula mais famosa do MMA no mês de novembro. Treinando em Fortaleza, o lutador não se esqueceu do Jiu-Jitsu de competição no entanto, e já mira a Seletiva para o WPJJC de Abu Dhabi, que rola nos dias 15 e 16 de setembro em Natal.

“Meu sonho é lutar em Abu Dhabi. Consegui a classificação este ano, mas os compromissos com o UFC impediram minha participação”, lembrou ele. “Mas dessa vez acho que vai dar, vou logo garantir a vaga”, garantiu.

Didático, Caio ensina a enganar o adversário na hora de passar a guarda no Jiu-Jitsu sem kimono. Repare que ele tira a esgrima do oponente, abraça a cabeça e coloca a mão no bíceps para depois cair para o lado e disfarçar um ataque no leglock. De lá, mantém o gancho vivo e dá um giro, sentando e segurando o quadril, para em seguida pegar as costas.

Jiu-Jitsu black belt Caio Magalhães should be back in MMA’s most famous cage in the month of November. Training in the Northeast Brazilian city of Fortaleza, the fighter hasn’t forgotten about his past as a gentle-art competitor and has targeted the Abu Dhabi WPJJC tryouts coming up September 15 and 16 in the city of Natal.

“I dream of competing in Abu Dhabi. I managed to qualify this year, but my UFC commitments kept me from participating,” he recalled. “But this time I think it’ll happen. I’m going to secure my spot right away,” he asserted.

Always with an eye to gentle-art studies, the UFC middleweight demonstrated a position exclusively for GRACIEMAG.com.

In the instructional, Caio shows how to fool the opponent when passing guard in No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu. Notice how he removes his opponent’s underhook, grabs his head and puts a hand on his biceps to then land on the side and fake a kneebar attack. From there, he keeps the hook in place and spins, sitting and grabbing the hip, to next take the back.

Ceará State Jiu-Jitsu champion Thiago Maia made his MMA debut last Saturday at Arena Wolf Fight, an event the town of Quixada, in his home state. Maia, who teaches at Owner academy, took on Rômulo Angelim of team Brasa, and after an evenly-matched first round, he went to his Jiu-Jitsu, sinking a second-round armbar to wrap up the action.

Back in his hometown of Fortaleza, Thiago decided to share a reverse omoplata attack to celebrate his triumph. Not how rather than attacking with a clock choke or going to the back, he pulls his opponent’s arm and grabs his hip to then go on and flip him. “If he doesn’t roll with me, you can be sure he’ll tap out. If he rolls, I stick my hand in his face, grab his leg and bring up my hip,” he demonstrates.

In the other fights that went down at the MMA show, Carlos Cyborg of Dragon Fight/Nova União took it to Ruthenilson Hulk, ending the fight with a solid flurry of ground and pound that caused the ref to step in. Another one who came up big was Diego Espartano of Dragon Fight/Nova União, who put away Gildázio Oliveira with a triangle in the first round. Now David Mendes (Semear/V8) went to town in the standup against Willie “Muita Treta” Reis, who failed to return for the second round.

Campeão cearense de Jiu-Jitsu, Thiago Maia fez sua estreia no MMA no sábado, pelo evento Arena Wolf Fight, em Quixadá, interior do estado. O professor da academia Owner encarou Rômulo Angelim (Brasa) e depois de um primeiro giro parelho, usou o velho lema “somente o Jiu-Jitsu salva”. No segundo round, Thiago deu o bote no braço para encaixar o armlock e definir o confronto.

Já em Fortaleza, Thiago ensinou um ataque invertido na omoplata para celebrar o triunfo. Repare que em vez de atacar o relógio ou pegar as costas, ele puxa o braço e segura o quadril do adversário, para depois capotar. “Se ele não rolar junto, pode deixar que vai bater. Se rolar, eu ponho a mão no rosto, seguro a perna dele e subo meu quadril”, mostrou.

Nas outra lutas do torneio de MMA, Carlos Cyborg (Dragon Fight/Nova União) mandou ver para cima de Ruthenilson Hulk e depois de uma boa sequência de golpes no ground and pound, o juiz encerrou o duelo. Outro que mandou bem foi Diego Espartano (Dragon Fight/Nova União), que despachou Gildázio Oliveira com um triângulo no primeiro assalto. Já David Mendes (Semear/V8) esbanjou na trocação contra Willie “Muita Treta” Reis, que não voltou para o segundo assalto.

A student of Jiu-Jitsu black belt Celso Venícius, Udi Lima came up spades in MMA last Saturday at Dragon Fight, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.

The ace from Ryan Gracie academy had to fight thrice on the same night to capture the under-70 kg GP title and get his hands on a spanking new motorcyle. “He got the finish in all three of his fights and got the championship belt. Udi now has 27 wins on his record,” reported Celso, who’s showing he’s got ts as a trainer as well.

“Another student of mine, Viscardi, won his fight at the Brazil Combate event, too, beating Horito [Cia Paulista/Chute Boxe team]. Visconde has 20 wins on his record, 12 of them coming in his last 13 fights,” he added.

Aluno do faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu Celsinho Venicius, Udi Lima foi o grande campeão do Dragon Fight, evento de MMA que rolou no último sábado, em Frutal, no interior de Minas Gerais.

A fera da academia Ryan Gracie teve de fazer três lutas na mesma noite para faturar o GP até 70kg e abocanhar uma moto zero quilômetro.”Ele finalizou as três lutas e ganhou o cinturão do evento. O Udi agora está com 27 vitórias no cartel”, conta Celsinho, que está em grande fase também como treinador.

“Meu outro aluno, o Viscardi, também ganhou mais uma no evento Brazil Combate, contra o atleta Horito (Cia Paulista/Chute Boxe). Viscardi acumula 20 vitórias, sendo 12 nas últimas 13 lutas”, completou.
