GMA Yemaso BJJ in Sacramento, CA has found a new, better location for their team. Professor Marcos “Yemaso” Torregrosa and his band of students will be celebrating this grand opening on July 19 and all are welcome to join in the fun.

The event will start at 10 a.m. and include food trucks, open mat rolling, prize raffles and giveaways and even a dunk tank.

Valente brothers host successful tribute to 100 years of Helio Gracie with 300 guests

On Tuesday, Oct. 1 the Valente brothers brought together over 300 people to remember Helio Gracie on his hundredth anniversary. The GMA Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Miami professors Pedro, Gui and Joaquim hosted an event at the Newport Beachside Hotel in Sunny Isle Beach, FL north of Miami.

All dressed in white kimonos, the night ensued with speeches, demonstrations and an overall showing of respect for the Grand Master.

In response to the event, the three brothers say:

“We are extremely grateful to each and every one of you who attended tonight’s tribute to the 100 years of Helio Gracie. This was the least we could do for the man who made Jiu-Jitsu possible for all of us. We are also thankful for all the nice messages we received during the course of the day. These demonstrations of respect and honor mean more than any choke, armlock, throw, or any physical technique performed on the mat.”

One hundred years ago, a brave soul was born. Let’s celebrate the one hundredth birthday of Helio Gracie (1913–2009) by remembering his struggles and his accomplishments in Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, sixty years before the inception of the UFC.

Celebrate 100 years of Grand Master Helio Gracie at Gracie Humaita HQ San Diego

GMA member Joao Faria of Gracie Del Mar invites everyone to come to the Gracie Humaita Headquarters in San Diego, CA to celebrate the life of Grand Master Helio Gracie. If he were alive today, Helio would be 100 years old.

A gathering at the academy will pay tribute to the pioneer of Jiu-Jitsu with an open mat and an opportunity to watch Royler Gracie’s home movies.

The time is set for 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and is open for any person regardless of affiliation.

Please wear only white gis.
