The full potential for speed and pressure of BJJ was illustrated in Nevada last week with the hosting of the Las Vegas No-Gi Open.

Among the strong fighters duking it out in the adults’ black-belt finals, Arnaldo Maidana turned some heads. The Checkmat member took down the super-heavyweight division by beating Daniel Hampton in just a few seconds.

After they studied each other on their feet for a bit, Arnaldo attacked with a precise guillotine. Daniel struggled to get free, but after he got on the ground, there was nothing else available to him but the tap-out. His lights even went out for a moment there, but he was checked on immediately and was fine.

Toda velocidade e pressão dos duelos de Jiu-JItsu sem pano foram demonstradas em Nevada, na última semana, com a realização do Las Vegas Open Sem Kimono.

Entre as feras que entraram em ação nas finais do adulto faixa-preta, um destaque ficou para o desempeho de Arnaldo Maidana. Fera da equipe Checkmat, Arnaldo brilhou na final do super pesado ao desafiar Daniel Hampton, e o duelo terminou em poucos segundos.

Depois de se estudarem um pouco em pé, Arnaldo deu um bote preciso a guilhotina. Daniel brigou e tentou se desvencilhar, mas ao chegar ao solo apenas restou os três tapinhas. Daniel chegou até a apagar momentaneamente, mas foi amparado logo ao bater e ficou bem.

The 2015 Santa Cruz BJJ Pro is going down next August 29 on the beautiful costal city in Northern California.

Big Jiu-Jitsu stars have already signed in to compete for some of the $30K bounty the IBJJF is offering to division winners.

Four-time world champion Leandro Lo is in; roosterweight runner up at the 2015 Worlds, João Miyao, is also in after dropping out of the 2015 ADCC roster.

Vitor Oliveira, Tanner Rice, Eliot Kelly, Osvaldo Moizinho, Arnaldo Maidana, Marcelo Mafra, Lucas Rocha are other names already signed in.

If you are thinking of competing, know that you have less than 24 hours to register.

The final deadline is midnight tonight.

Adult black belt athletes need 10pts on the IBJJF ranking to register.

The 2015 Austin Open took place this Sunday and the champions of the most important division have been crowned.

In the male black belt open class division, Arnaldo Maidana ended up with the gold medal.

Monique Carvalho was the female open class black belt champion.

Maidana beat Inacio Neto in the final, while Monique defeated Fabiana Borges for the gold medal.

No fim de semana, uma mamãe faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu roubou a cena no Las Vegas Open da IBJJF. A atleta da Atos Angelica Galvão, esposa da fera André Galvão, brilhou no peso médio e no absoluto. A vice-campeã do aberto foi Chelsea Donner, também da Atos.

“Tive boas lutas e graças a Deus tudo ocorreu bem. Não poderia ter feito isso sem ajuda dos meus professores e ótimos parceiros de treino, que por sinal tiveram excelentes resultados”, postou Angelica, em sua rede social.

No adulto masculino, o destaque foi Arnaldo Maidana. O faixa-preta da Checkmat ficou no topo do peso superpesado e o absoluto. Na final do aberto, Arnaldo venceu Carlos Farias (Roberto Traven BJJ) em grande luta.

Outros craques também brilharam, como João Miyao, campeão no pluma, Paulo Miyao, campeão no pena, e Thiago Sá, campeão no meio-pesado.

Outro que mereceu aplausos foi o valente peso-pena Wellington “Megaton” Dias, que optou por se lançar no superpesado adulto e beliscou o bronze.

Another great fight of last weekend’s World No-Gi was the medium-heavy match between Arnaldo Maidana and Eduardo Telles.

Not a very well known name by the greater audience, Maidana displayed a highly skilled grappling.
