selo_hayabusaAs tough as the open class division, the teams competition at the World Jiu-Jitsu championship is always fierce.

Since 1996, the main academies compete head to head for each point in each division to add up to the overall count in the end.

The trophy for the adult male division is regarded as the most valuable, followed by the adult female division, juvenile and white belt divisions.

If you look into the results lists since 1996, you’ll see team results listed only from 2002 on, but GRACIEMAG counted the points for each team from 1996 to 2001* and will be able to make a full account of which team is the most successful in history.

In the adult male division, Alliance and Gracie Barra are without a doubt the two teams fighting for the top spot.

Alliance dominates the adult male division since 2008

Gracie Barra comes up to a close second place with seven titles conquered in 1996, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007.

The third team with most titles is Nova União, champions in 1997 and 2001.

Brasa has one title in the adult male division, in 2006.

In the female division, the competition is also fierce.
