Blood and grit marked the under 77kg GP, won by the heavy-handed Hernani Perpétuo. The André Pederneiras understudy saw blood – and his own, at that – when taking on Edilberto Crocotá in the grand prix final, with a gash on his head that stubbornly poured blood throughout the three-round affair.

Perpétuo showed his warrior spirit with every cut check, imploring the ref not to stop the fight, “Please don’t stop the fight,” he’d plead. Deftly moving around the cage, the Nova União striking specialist dominated the fight, getting the better of the standup action in all three rounds. In the last few seconds of the fight, to add further luster to the achievement, he held out against a snug guillotine choke while his blood bathed the cage canvas.

Delson Pé de Chumbo stepped in for an injured Murilo Bustamante in the card’s international matchup and left no one disappointed. Despite giving up some weight to Deep champion Yuya Shirai, the Jiu-Jitsu world champion took the tournament belt via judges’ decision.

Now Glover Teixeira left nothing to chance, completely annulling two-time absolute world champion Márcio Pé de Pano’s ground game. With perfectly-timed sprawls and keen to Pé de Pano’s intentions on the ground, Glover kept the fight mostly standing but wrapped up the match unleashing a second-round barrage of ground and pound till the ref stepped in.

Two-time UFC fighter Ronys Torres put his Jiu-Jitsu to good use. Following a takedown set up by a well-placed left hook, the native of the town of Manacapuru, etched into the Amazon rain forest, looked to have cinched the win with a rear-naked choke but ended the one-sided affair with a straight-armed kimura, all in the first round. The fight between Toninho Fúria and Alexandre Chaminho came to a premature halt during the break between the second and third rounds. Fúria saw the better side of the action in the opener, while Chambinho drew even in the second, but a knee injury kept him from returning for the tie-breaking third.

Sangue e raça marcaram o GP até 77 kg, onde triunfou o mão-pesada Hernani Perpétuo. O fiel escudeiro de André Pederneiras mostrou sangue nos olhos e também na cabeça – ele disputou a grande final, contra Edilberto Crocotá, com um corte profundo que teimava em abrir e derramar sangue.

O guerreiro não desistiu e, a cada interrupção, implorava: “Não parem a luta, por favor”. Com muita movimentação, a fera da Nova União dominou os três assaltos, sempre melhor na trocação. Nos últimos segundos, para abrilhantar ainda mais a conquista, ele resistiu a uma guilhotina encaixadíssima, que melou de sangue a jaula armada na terra dos valentes.

Delson Pé de Chumbo substituiu Murilo Bustamante na luta internacional e não decepcionou. Mesmo sentindo um pouco a briga contra a balança em cima da hora, o campeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu mandou bem contra o campeão do Deep Yuya Shirai, e levou o cinturão do torneio por decisão dos jurados.

Já Glover Teixeira, como dizem, não deu chance ao azar, e anulou o jogo de chão do bicampeão mundial absoluto Marcio Pé de Pano. Com a esparramada em dia, Glover não foi derrubado e dominou em pé, além de maltratar no ground and pound e soltar a marreta até o juiz interromper no segundo round.

Ex-lutador do UFC, Ronys Torres colocou o Jiu-Jitsu em prática. Depois de aplicar um quedaço, o manacapuruense tentou um mata-leão. Mas a vitória veio com uma kimura muito bem encaixada, tudo isso no primeiro round. A luta entre Toninho Fúria e Alexandre Chambinho acabou no intervalo do segundo para o terceiro assalto. No embate, Fúria foi melhor na primeira parcial, já Chambinho equilibrou as ações na segunda etapa, mas uma lesão no joelho impediu seu retorno para o derradeiro round.

Some unfortunate news arose this morning, but Clube da Luta’s promoters were quick to act. Following Murilo Bustamante’s withdrawal due to injury, Roberto Gordo and team reshuffled the card to replace the veteran with 2002 Jiu-Jitsu world champion Delson “Pé de Chumbo” Heleno for the main event against Yuya Shirai this coming Wednesday.

Announcement of the injury was made via Twitter by @murilobusta: “Due to an injury incurred last week that I have been treating since, unfortunately without success, I will not fight at Clube da Luta.”

“This is a very sad moment for me, as it would have been a dream come true to fight in Brazil after 14 years fighting abroad. I am thankful to the promoters for their understanding and I ask the forgiveness of the fans who were expecting me on the card. I will, however, be there on the day to watch the fights at this event that, to me, is the greatest MMA event ever held in the country,” said Murilo over Twitter.

“Besouro and Gil Freitas, who were previously scheduled to fight Pé de Chumbo, were injured, so the decision was the right one,” Gordo told GRACIEMAG.com this morning. Pé de Chumbo, who would have fought as a welterweight (77kg), agreed to fight at 82kg.

A (má) notícia surgiu hoje de manhã, mas a organização do Clube da Luta agiu rápido. Após Murilo Bustamante (BTT) informar uma contusão durante os treinos, Roberto Gordo e staff remanejaram o campeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu (2002) Delson Heleno, o Pé de Chumbo, para a luta principal, nesta quarta-feira, contra o japonês Shirai.

O anúncio da lesão foi feito pelo Twitter de @murilobusta: “Devido a uma contusão sofrida na última semana, que venho tratando desde então, infelizmente sem sucesso, não lutarei no Clube da Luta”.

“É um momento muito triste pra mim, pois estaria realizando o sonho de voltar a lutar nos ringues do Brasil depois de 14 anos lutando no exterior. Agradeço a compreensão dos organizadores do evento e peço desculpa aos fãs que contavam com minha presença no card. Porém estarei lá no dia prestigiando e assitindo às lutas daquele que, para mim, é o maior e melhor evento de MMA realizado no país”, twittou Murilo.

“O Besouro e o Gil Freitas, então oponentes do Pé de Chumbo, se machucaram em sequência, então foi a decisão mais acertada”, reportou Gordo esta manhã, ao GRACIEMAG.com. O teresopolitano Pé de Chumbo, que lutaria até 77kg, topou subir para 82kg sem problemas.

“It’s the present I want, to give this guy a beating!” jokes the black belt.

Murilo will be fighting July 20 at Clube da Luta in Rio de Janeiro. His opponent, Japan’s Yuya Shirai, has a record of 20 wins and nine losses.

“He’s a well-rounded fighter. He kicks well, throws them a lot in his fights. I haven’t had access to too much about him, but he seems to me to be complete; I haven’t seen one aspect of his game that stands out from the rest. I think he’s a bit better on his feet, so I’m training a lot of blocks and counter-strikes,” Busta says in analysis.

At his last appearance, while having a good showing against Jesse Taylor, Bustamante ended up pulling out due to labyrinthitis. This time around he guarantees he’ll be 100%.

“I’m doing fine. I went to the doctor this week and had ran a number of tests and he cleared me to fight. I don’t feel any pain while training, so it’s alright. All that’s left to do is sign the contract, but I’m pretty sure the fight’s confirmed, and I’m ready,” says the veteran, shrugging off any possibility of this being his farewell fight.

“I still intend to fight another two or three times this year!” he asserts.

Getting ready alongside Murilo is Rousimar Toquinho. The fighter hasn’t yet appeared on the official UFC card, but Bustamante confirms everything is in place for Toquinho to see action in Rio.

“He signed the bout agreement and is in. Not long ago I asked why his name hasn’t appeared on the card yet, if there was some problem with his opponent (Alexandre “Cacareco”). They told me everything was in order for UFC Rio,” he says in closing.

“É o presente que quero, dar um pau nesse cara!”, brinca o faixa-preta.

Murilo luta no Clube da Luta, evento que acontece no dia 20 de julho, no Rio de Janeiro. O adversário é Yuya Shirai, japonês que conta com 20 vitórias e nove derrotas.

“É um cara completo. Usa muito bem os chutes, ele chuta bastante nas suas lutas. Não tive acesso a muito material sobre ele, mas me parece completo, não vi algo no jogo que se destacasse muito mais que outro. Acho que é um pouco melhor em pé, então estou treinando bastante o bloqueio e o contra-golpe”, analisa.

Na última apresentação, quando fazia boa luta contra Jesse Taylor, Bustamante acabou abandonando o combate, com labirintite. Dessa vez, garante, vai estar 100%.

“Estou muito bem. Fui ao médico esta semana, fiz vários testes e ele me liberou para lutar. Não sinto mais nada nos treinos, então é ótimo. Só falta assinar o contrato, mas acho que a luta está confirmada e estou pronto”, diz o casca-grossa, que afasta qualquer possibilidade de esse ser o último combate.

“Ainda pretendo lutar mais duas ou três vezes neste ano!”, garante.

Ao lado de Murilo também se prepara Rousimar Toquinho. O lutador ainda não aparece no card oficial no site do Ultimate, mas Bustamante confirma que está tudo certo para Toquinho estar em ação no UFC Rio.

“Ele já assinou contrato e está dentro. Perguntei recentemente por que o nome dele não apareceu no card ainda, se havia ocorrido algum problema com o adversário dele (Alexandre Cacareco). A resposta que tive foi de que estava tudo certo para o UFC Rio”, encerra.
