Undefeated Pulga wins again in Rio

The crowd that packed the venue at Club Flamengo, in Rio de Janeiro, approved of the bouts to make up the card for WOCS this Saturday, in Rio de Janeiro. In the main event, Alexandre Pulga didn’t have it easy in maintaining his undefeated record, overcoming Alexandre Pinheiro by split decision.

The first round started out with straight-up striking, which brought the crowd to its feet, mainly Pulga’s cheering section. The Jiu-Jitsu black belt answered his fans’ call and took his opponent down, passed guard, mounted and nearly finished with an armbar. In the following round, things were on evener terms, with Alexandre Pinheiro landing solid strikes from Pulga’s guard. In the final round both fighters were visibly tired from the intense combat from beginning to end, with Pulga managing to take his adversary down but not stabilize the position, and winning the decision for getting the better of the striking in the third round and his dominance on the ground in the first. This is Pulga’s ninth win in as many fights.

In the other most anticipated fight, Eduardo Pachu swung for the fence at Francinei Farinazzo. After getting the takedown and landing strikes, the Gracie Fusion fighter finished with a rear-naked choke. Another to have a great night was Arthur Gogó. The fighter used his Jiu-Jitsu to overcome Silvio Vieira in the first round. After getting the takedown and mounting, Gogó ended the dispute with an americana lock. In another even dispute, Alexandre Pantoja beat Ralph Lauren via split decision. Making his professional debut, Rodrigo Ratinho did well to beat Leandro Feijão with and armbar.

Euphoric after the event, organizer Otávio “Tatá” Duarte could only say one thing: “We stopped the zona sul (Rio de Janeiro’s southern region)!”

WOCS reality show on the air

The reality show covering the lead-up to the next installment of Watch Out Combat Show, WOCS preview, is already available for viewing on the WTN Fight website. The program features the day-to-day routine of the fighters in their exhausting preparations for MMA combat. Aces like Eduardo Pachu and Alexandre Pulga stand out.

The actual WOCS 6 event takes place this Saturday at the Flamengo Rowing Club, in Rio de Janeiro. Tickets are on sale and at half price for bearers of student IDs or promotional flyers, even the VIP area. Full price for seats in the stands is R$ 50, male VIP seating is R$ 180 and female VIP seating is R$ 120 (with buffet included). Pantoja on fire for WOCS 6

The world keeps on spinning and in MMA yesterday’s opponent can be tomorrow’s opponent. That is the case with Alexandre Pantoja and Willian Viana. Responsible for the only glitch on Pantoja’s record, Viana now trains alongside his former adversary. Pantoja will see action this Saturday at WOCS 6, at Flamengo Football Club, when he faces Ralph Lauren, and William has his money on a good performance from his teammate.

“Pantoja is on fire and ready. His opponent changed, but he doesn’t even care. He said he’ll fight anyone would even move up a weight group to fight. He is waiting on a shot at the Shooto belt and wants to fight as often as possible to keep up the pace,” remarks Willian Viana.

O mundo dá voltas e no MMA o adversário de ontem pode ser o aliado de amanhã. É o caso de Alexandre Pantoja e Willian Viana. Responsável pelo único revés no cartel de Pantojinha, Viana hoje treina ao lado do outrora oponente. Pantoja estará em ação neste sábado, no WOCS 6, no Clube de Regatas Flamengo, quando encara Ralph Lauren, e Willian aposta numa boa apresentação do companheiro.

“O Pantoja está voando e preparado. Mudou o adversário, mas ele nem se importou. Disse que luta contra qualquer um, tanto que até lutará numa categoria acima da que geralmente se apresenta. Ele aguarda a chance pelo cinturão do Shooto quer estar em ação o maior número de vezes para star sempre no ritmo”, comenta Willian Viana.

A organização também anuncia uma mudança no card. Adversário programado para encarar Eduardo Pachu, Fernando Paulon dará lugar a Francinei Frarinazzo, que possui vitórias contra feras como Rodrigo Kanu.

WOCS 6 made reality show

WOCS 6, an event to take place December 12 in Rio de Janeiro, will be made into a reality show. And recording is underway.

“It will be called WOCS Preview. They have already begun shooting the athletes on the main card, like Alexandre Pulga, Alexandre Pinheiro, Eduardo Pachu and Fernando Paulon. The daily lives of the fighters will be featured. The show will air on the WTN Fight website and we are also negotiating for it to be broadcast on Combate channel, before the event is broadcast (it will not be live),” announces Philip Lima, promoter of the event along with Otávio Tatá.

Beyond that, the event announced a change to its card. In flyweight bout against Alexandre Pantoja, Ralph Lauren takes the place of Rafael Primo.
