A Jiu-Jitsu brown belt who is a fixture on the winners’ podium across the Brazilian northeast, Leandro “Pitbull” Hygo, 22, has also been making waves in MMA.

A native of the town of Mossoró, Hygo added a seventh win to his ledger last Friday, taking a unanimous decision over another “Pitbull”, Erinaldo dos Santos, at WFE 11. “He’s more than ready to take on bigger challenges. He trains hard, is dedicated and determined, and the result is showing,” said João Paulo, a black belt who helps Leandro with his ground game.

A former training partner to Rony “Jason”, fellow native of the state of Rio Grande do Norte who is tipped to appear as a contestant on the inaugural season of TUF Brazil; Leandro is known for his takedown savvy. The One JJ rep was featured on the Bloodyelbow.com website as one of the ten revelations who will make it big in MMA in 2012.

“I really have been training a lot not just in Jiu-Jitsu but lots in MMA, but that is just one step, because I still have a ways to go,” said the Brazilian bomber, who injured his foot by kicking Erinaldo’s knee and will now give it a rest. Check out Leandro Hygo in action at WFE 11.

Faixa-marrom de Jiu-Jitsu, figura frequente nos pódios no Ceará e no Rio Grande do Norte, a promessa Leandro “Pitbull” Hygo, de 22 anos, também vem arrebentando nos cercados de MMA.

O lutador de Mossoró chegou a sua sétima vitória na carreira, na última sexta-feira, ao vencer o também pitbull Erinaldo dos Santos, por decisão unânime, no WFE 11. “Ele está mais do que preparado para voos mais altos. Treina muito, é dedicado e tem determinação, e o resultado está aparecendo” disse João Paulo, faixa-preta que afia o chão do casca-grossa.

Ex-companheiro de treino de Rony Jason, fera potiguar que segue cotado para aparecer no TUF Brasil, Leandro Pitbull é conhecido por sua grande habilidade nas quedas. O representante da One JJ está sendo apontado pelo site americano Bloodyelbow.com como uma das dez revelações que vão brilhar no MMA em 2012.

“Eu realmente ando treinando bastante, não apenas Jiu-Jitsu mas muito MMA, mas isso é só um passo, porque vêm muitos por aí ainda”, resumiu o casca-grossa, que chutou o joelho de Erinaldo na luta, e agora deve dar férias para o seu pé. Confira, a seguir, Leandro Hygo em ação no WFE 11.

Bahia, Brazil-based promotion WFE Platinum has its 11 installment scheduled for December 16 in the sumptuous setting of beach-side resort Stella Maris. While the complete card is still being put together, lightweight champion Adriano Martins and stalwart welterweight Edilberto Crocotá, who will be putting his own title on the line. Their challengers have not yet been announced.

One matchup that’s already on the books is between Flavio Alvaro and Diego Braga. Another who should also return to the fray is Rivaldo Junior, likely against Jurandir Sardinha.

O evento baiano WFE Platinum 11 está marcado para o próximo dia 16 de dezembro, nas luxuosas instalações do resort à beira da praia Stella Maris. O card do evento está na fase de formação, mas já conta com o campeão dos leves Adriano Martins e com o irreverente peso médio Edilberto Crocotá, que também vai botar o seu título em jogo. Os desafiantes ainda não foram anunciados.
