Aconteceu na noite deste sábado o WEC 47, em Ohio, nos Estados Unidos. Entre os resultados, algumas reviravoltas e a organização conta com um novo campeão entre os plumas. 

Na principal luta da noite, pelo título peso pluma, Dominick Cruz fez com que Brian Bowles sentisse pela primeira vez o amargo gosto da derrota e, de quebra, tascou a mão no cinturão do oponente. O combate foi interrompido no intervalo do segundo round para o terceiro, um nocaute técnico com a interrupção médica. 

Também no peso pluma, o ex-campeão Miguel Torres perdeu pela segunda vez. Joseph Benavidez usou a guilhotina para finalizar e deve ser o próximo desafiante ao título. Quem também segue numa sequência de derrotas é Jens Pulver, finalizado por Javier Vazquez com um armlock. Este foi o quinto revés seguido de Pulver.    

Campeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu, o faixa-preta Fredson Paixão voltou a vencer contra Courtney Buck. O golpe usado foi um mata-leão, ainda no assalto inicial.

WEC has new bantamweight king

WEC 47 took place this Saturday night in Ohio, USA. Among the results, there were a few upsets, with the organization gaining a new bantamweight champion as the result of one of them.

In the evening’s main event, for the bantamweight belt, Dominick Cruz handed Brian Bowles his first taste of defeat, taking his opponent’s belt to boot. The bout was brought to an end by doctor’s intervention in the break between the second and third round, with a fracture to the former champion’s hand the apparent cause.

In the other big bantamweight bout of the evening, the man Bowles beat to win his now-relinquished title, Miguel Torres, lost a second fight in a row for the first time in his vast career. Joseph Benavidez brought the action to a close in the second round with a guillotine and is likely to be the next challenger for the title. Another former champion (UFC) to have fallen into a losing rut is Jens Pulver, who was submitted by Javier Vazquez via armbar. This was Pulver’s fifth loss in a row.

WEC 47 takes place this Saturday night the in Ohio. The event comes with a first-rate card, live broadcast and GRACIEMAG.com will bring you all the results. In the main event, champion Brian Bowles defends his bantamweight belt against Dominick Cruz.

“I’m ready to defend my belt. I fought hard to get that title and I respect people. This fight is my chance to prove I am the best bantamweight in the sport,” said Bowles.

In other matchups, Urijah Faber training protege Joseph Benavidez faces former champion Miguel Torres, and former UFC champion Jens Pulver has Javier Vazquez ahead of him.

In one of the bouts not on the broadcast, Jiu-Jitsu world champion Fredson Paixão faces off against Courtney Buck.

Acontece na noite deste sábado o WEC 47, em Ohio. O evento vem com um card de primeira, transmissão ao vivo no canal Combate e o GRACIEMAG.com traz todos os resultados. Na principal atração, o campeão Brian Bowles defende o cinturão contra Dominick Cruz. 

“Estou pronto para defender meu cinturão. Lutei muito para conseguir esse título e quero o respeito das pessoas. Essa luta é a minha chance de provar que sou o melhor peso pluma do esporte”, finalizou.    

Em outros combates, a pedreira Joseph Benavidez, parceiro de treinos de Urijah Faber, encara o ex-campeão Miguel Torres. Já o ex-campeão do UFC Jens Pulver terá Javier Vazquez pela frente.

Num dos combates não transmitidos, o campeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu Fredson Paixão terá Courtney Buck pela frente.

Coming off the first loss of his career, when he dropped a judges’ decision to LC Davis in November 2009, the promising Diego Nunes faces former UFC fighter Leonard Garcia. The bout is set to take place at WEC 47 on March 6, in Ohio.

Up until the first setback of his career, in his last appearance, Nunes, an Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira student, overcame 13 opponents. Garcia, who has the same number of wins, but has five losses, too, is also coming off a negative result.

On the same night Brian Bowles defends his bantamweight belt against Dominick Cruz. Former divisional champion Miguel Torres will also see action against Joseph Benavidez. In the preliminaries, Jiu-Jitsu world champion Fredson Paixão faces Bryan Caraway.

Jiu-Jitsu black belt Fredson Paixão will see action yet again at the March-6 WEC show. According to MMAWeekly, the three-time world champion will face Bryan Caraway. The fight is part of the card for the 47th installment of the event, to take place in Ohio, USA.

Fredson is coming off back-to-back bad results, defeat to Wagnney Fabiano and a no contest in his last fight, against Cole Province.Caraway is also coming off a loss at WEC 46.The fight promises excitement, though, as both fighters come into the match with considerable ground-fighting experience.. If Jiu-Jitsu is the mainstay of Paixão, his opponent is not far behind, with 12 submissions in 14 wins.

At the same event, undefeated featherweight champion Brian Bowles faces Dominick Cruz, while former champion Miguel Torres, a Carlson Gracie disciple, looks to get back into title contention against Joseph Benavidez.  Jens Pulver is yet another big-name attraction featuring on the card.
