The BJ Penn seminar at GMA Vitor Shaolin Academy in New York City on Tuesday, September 17 is sold out. The NYC BJJ Camp is a designed as a way for Jiu-Jitsu practitioners to travel to New York and train with the legends. These academies include Renzo Gracie Academy, Marcelo Garcia Academy and Vitor Shaolin Academy.

Private instruction from GMA member Vitor Shaolin and Gerry “Kid Peligro” Costa along with seminars, Q & A’s, small group training and open mats make the camp a full weekend event.

The dates are Friday, October 11 to Sunday, October 13.

This camp caters to both out-of-state and locals as the opportunity to tour the city via Jiu-Jitsu academies can be enjoyed at this high-level whether you’re near or far.

If you’re in the area of Times Square in New York City, head to GMA Vitor Shaolin’s Academy on 8th avenue for dedicated training. A new class on their schedule is the women’s class which is held every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. during the master’s class.

The training for women is dedicated to all belts from white to black, beginner to expert as a way for women to learn with each other. Last week Nova Uniao’s Rico Bastos stopped in to guest teach for the ladies.

Set at the City College of New York in the heart of the city, the Nat Holman Gymnasium will be the battlefield for local teams to determine who is the best. Gracie Barra has sent a team of some of their best black belts to the other coast from California. Philippe Della Monica came out and held a seminar at GMA Gracie Barra Long Island and will be present along with his teammates. World champion Otávio Sousa leads the pack that includes also Rodrigo Simoes, Gustavo Pires and Magid Hage. Renzo Gracie team has opted to represent their academy without combining into the Gracie Elite Team name and Alliance is being represented by both New York academies Alliance NYC and Marcelo Garcia Academy. Nova Uniao is holding their own with Times Square locals Vitor Shaolin Academy. Many streams of competitors will be present from all over the nation to see who comes out on top. This tournament, however, has always been very important to the teams who are all located in rather close proximity and who gains the overall lead in points to win the team trophy. Will you be present to catch all of the excitement and/or defend your team’s glory?
