Caio Terra vs. Bruno Antunes at the 2012 American Nationals

Caio Terra (Gracie Fighter) and Bruno Antunes (GB) had two duels at the 2012 American Nationals, last weekend in Carson, California.

In the adult open class black belt gi final on Saturday, Antunes came out on top by refs decision.

One day later, they met again, in the black belt open class no-gi final.

This time, Caio Terra managed to get two advantages to secure the gold medal.

USBJJF American Nationals

The IBJJF and the USBJJF invite for two upcoming events.

Next September 8th-9th takes place in Carson, CA, the American Nationals.

The event will feature both Gi and No-Gi divisions.

The registration period ends August 31st and the enrollment fee is $99,00 for the Gi event and $170,00 for both events.

The next IBJJF tournaments fast approach. On August 14 in Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Open and American No-Gi Nationals are to take place. Already on the roster are three big names: Rafael Lovato, Flavio “Cachorrinho” Almeida and Caio Terra.

“Three great athletes are already confirmed. Rafael Lovato and Cachorrinho are major adversaries on the mat. Caio too is in there to raise the bar, as a former world champion,” remarks IBJJF director André Fernandes.

The entity further announces that this Saturday is the last day for a discount to sign up for the Chicago Open, to take place August 22. After which the price raises from US$ 82 to US$ 97.

Sign up here before 11:59 pm on Saturday the 31st to pay the discount rate.

And last but not least, the Honolulu Open is open for sign-ups.

Las Vegas will hold its first International Open and host the American No-Gi Nationals in August

With the Rio Open 2010 and International Master and Senior tournaments rolling along in the Tijuca Tennis Club, we enter a new chapter in competition Jiu-Jitsu history: the post-Worlds International Open chapter.

Although other Open tournaments do exist – like the Houston and New York Opens that took place earlier this year – the one with the most history behind it now underway shall henceforth mark the beginning of a “post-World Championship Open Season,” when a series of International Open tournaments in different locations around the US will keep competitors out of languor once the biggest tourney of all is over and done.

First on the horizon is the Las Vegas International Open, to take place August 14 in the SportCenter of Las Vegas. This one coincides with the American No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Nationals, which should reel in a good chunk of the city’s abundant MMA-fighters, who do without the gi for the greater part of their ground training. As the two tournaments will be held at the same time and place, it should be a great opportunity to rub elbows with Jiu-Jitsu stars and the city’s MMA elite alike.
