The showdown between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen isn’t the only thing on tap at UFC 148 this Saturday. Fabricio Morango will also be there in Las Vegas with some extra responsibility on his hands, as he looks to take out Melvin Guillard. After all, Melvin’s the one who uttered the famous words “The good thing about Jiu-Jitsu fighters is that they give me the chance to win the knockout-of-the-night bonus.” Who’ll be winning the bonus at whose expense, that’s the question.

The black belt under Vini Aieta and Royler Gracie at Gracie Humaitá is coming off a win over Tom Hayden at UFC on FX 1 last January. On the occasion, Morango used his gentle-art skills to dispatch the until-then-unbeaten American with a first-round rear-naked choke. Now Guillard was tapped out at the same event by Jim Miller using the same move, the rear-naked choke. Could coincidence work in Morango’s favor?

To not have to rely on luck, but making it happen, Morango has been as diligent about sharpening up his ground skills as ever. Learn to counter-attack with an armdrag from half-guard in the following video.

Pay attention to the details, when he grabs the collar and fakes going for the opposite sleeve or knee, to then catch the opponent off guard by pulling the correct arm.

O UFC 148, no sábado, não fica apenas no tira-teima entre Anderson Silva e Chael Sonnen. Quem também busca a finalização é Fabricio Morango, que encara Melvin Guillard em Las Vegas com uma resposabilidade a mais. Afinal, é de Melvin a famosa frase: “A coisa boa sobre lutadores do Jiu-Jitsu é que eles me dão a chance de conseguir o bônus pelo nocaute da noite”. Quem vai conseguir o bônus em cima de quem, eis a questão.

O faixa-preta de Vini Aieta e Royler Gracie, na Gracie Humaitá, vem de vitória sobre Tom Hayden no UFC on FX 1, em janeiro. Na ocasião, Morango usou suas habilidades na arte suave para despachar o até então invicto americano com um mata-leão no primeiro round. This evening Nashville gets treated to a UFC show, and the card in store for the capital of the American state of Tennessee looks to promise some sweet submissions. Besides top-notch Royler Gracie and Vini Aieta black belt Fabricio “Morango” Camões’s return to the major leagues, the main event of the evening is a classic striker-versus-grappler matchup, with Jiu-Jitsu black belt Jim Miller testing his mettle against knockout artist Melvin Guillard.

Esta noite tem UFC, em Nashville, Tennesseee, e a expectativa é por bonitas finalizações. Além da presença no card do bom faixa-preta Fabricio “Morango” Camões, aluno de Vini Aieta e Royler Gracie, o evento fecha com um clássico duelo entre “trocador” e finalizador. O americano Jim Miller, também faixa-preta, testa seu jogo contra o nocauteador Melvin Guillard.

Morango ganha nova chance no UFC de janeiro

O site sueco MMAnytt.se informou primeiro, e o substituto de Rafaello Trator contra o estreante Reza Madadi, no UFC on FX 1, será o faixa-preta Fabricio Camões “Morango” (Gracie Humaitá).

Aluno de Royler Gracie e Vini Aieta, Morango havia feito dois combates pelo UFC, um empate e uma derrota. O marido de Letícia Ribeiro saiu do UFC em março de 2010, após ser finalizado por Kurt Pellegrino, e de lá para cá venceu dois combates pelo evento Tachi Palaces – o último em cima do campeão do TUF Efrain Escudero.

Apesar da fase de renovação, Morango é um antigo funcionário do vale-tudo, como o vídeo abaixo, de 1997, comprova – assista a Anderson Silva contra Morango, em Campo Grande, no Mato Grosso do Sul.

Morango gets another chance at UFC in January

Swedish website MMAnytt.se broke the news first, and Rafaello Trator’s replacement at UFC on FX 1 against promotional first-timer Reza Madadi will be Jiu-Jitsu black belt Fabricio “Morango” Camões (Gracie Humaitá).

A Royler Gracie and Vini Aieta student, Morango fought under the UFC banner on two occasions, drawing one and losing the other. Camões, husband to multiple-time Jiu-Jitsu world champion Letícia Ribeiro, left the UFC in March of 2010 after tapping out to Kurt Pellegrino, and since then he has won two fights at Tachi Palace—the latest of which came over TUF winner Efrain Escudero.

Although returning to prominence now, Morango has been around the block in MMA, as you can see below in the 1997 fight between Morango and Anderson Silva at an event in the city of Campo Grande, Brazil.
