Belfort revealed the final fight on his contract even before the UFC, against Uriah Hall. Carlos Arthur Jr.

Having announced his final UFC fight last June, Vitor Belfort will appear in the Octagon one last time in early 2018.

We now know that he will face Uriah Hall on January 14.

Belfort (26w, 13l, 1nc) is a former welterweight UFC champion, and has been a contender three other times. He was coming off three consecutive losses in the UFC, but the latest, against Kelvin Gastelum, was changed to a no-contest after Gastelum tested positive for marijuana. Then Belfort beat Nate Marquardt at UFC 212, in what was going to be his farewell bout.

Hall (13w, 8l) is coming off a win over Krzysztof Jotko in September, but previously he wasn’t doing so hot in the middleweight division, having lost to Robert Whittaker, Derek Brunson and Gegard Mousasi.

O velho leão já tem nova data de despedida do UFC. Após anunciar sua última luta no UFC Rio, em junho deste ano, e se ver em maus lençóis ao identificar uma confusão contratual, Vitor Belfort terá sua derradeira batalha no Ultimate no início de 2018.

Em seu último combate no octógono, Belfort vai encarar Uriah Hall, americano conhecido como “Homem-Ambulância” após participação arrasadora no TUF. O duelo será no dia 14 de janeiro.

Belfort (26v, 13d, 1nc) é ex-campeão meio-pesado do UFC, além de ter lutado mais três vezes pelo cinturão (uma vez nos meio-pesados e duas pelo cinturão dos médios). Belfort vinha de três derrotas seguidas no Ultimate, contra Ronaldo Jacaré, Gegard Mousasi e Kelvin Gastelum, esta última alterada para “no contest” após Gastelum testar positivamente para o uso de maconha, e em seguida bateu Nate Marquardt no UFC 212, no combate que seria sua despedida.

Hall (13v, 8d) vem de vitória sobre Krzysztof Jotko, em setembro deste ano, mas antes vinha de retrospecto complicado nos médios, ao ser superado por Robert Whittaker, Derek Brunson e Gegard Mousasi.

Mesmo com o grande número de finalizações e de brasileiros com a mão levantada no UFC Fight Night 90, realizado nessa quinta-feira, dia 7, em Las Vegas, a luta principal do evento teve um gosto amargo para a torcida brasileira.

No card preliminar, festa brasuca. Foram apenas dois reveses em sete lutas com brasileiros, e quatro vitórias por finalização. Gilbert Durinho, campeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu, despachou seu adversário com um armlock, assim como Felipe Sertanejo, enquanto Pedro Munhoz e Vicente Luque pegaram no pescoço.

Contudo, na luta principal, Rafael dos Anjos, até então campeão dos leves, foi para pelo duríssimo Eddie Alvarez, que com um cruzado de direita sacudiu o brasileiro, e assim abriu caminho para uma sequência brutal de socos que obrigou Herb Dean a parar o combate ainda no primeiro assalto.

Previamente escalado para encarar Conor McGregor pelo cinturão dos leves, Rafael sofreu uma lesão no pé, o que colocou Nate Diaz em vias de encarar e vencer McGregor. Já recuperado, RDA coloca seu cinturão em jogo contra o ex-campeão peso leve do Bellator, Alvarez no UFC Fight Night 90, em Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rafael(25v, 7d), chegou ao cinturão dos leves após forte sequência de vitórias no Ultimate, ao bater nomes como Jason High, Ben Henderson e Nate Diaz. Roubou a cinta de Anthony Pettis em um monólogo brasileiro, e defendeu o título com maestria contra o casca-grossa Donald Cerrone.

Alvarez(27v, 4d) estreou no UFC em 2014, com derrota para Donald Cerrone. Após o revés de boas-vindas, Eddie acumulou duas vitórias por decisão dividida, contra Gilbert Melendez e Anthony Pettis, a mais recente em janeiro deste ano.

Referee Herb Dean shared this Monday his views on the most controversial moment of this weekend’s UFC Fight Night London.

In the main event, Anderson Silva hit Michael Bisping with a flying knee to the head at the very last second of the third round.

As Bisping fell to the ground, Silva considered the fight done and went on to celebrate on top of the octagon fence.

Ref Herb Dean, however, saw it different and did not call the knock out, making sure to tell Anderson and his corner that the fight was not over.

Here’s what he said about his decision during an interview with The MMA Hour:  “Well, Silva hit him with the knee and dropped him, and then he walked off and started to celebrate. Bisping had been dropped, but you know, in MMA we don’t stop the match just because someone gets dropped. I saw that when he fell he was not unconscious. He was facing Anderson. Anderson didn’t give him a threat to protect himself from, but — I don’t want to start playing what if, what if he attacked and whatnot — the bottom line is he didn’t attack. The round ended and, because Anderson was celebrating, there was some confusion as to what was going on. But I never had any confusion. I knew that I hadn’t stopped the match and that the match was going to continue.”

Michael Bisping fulfilled this Saturday one of his dreams as a MMA fighter.

He defeated one of his heroes in Anderson Silva, in a thrilling fight in London, England.

“When I was starting and I was only a cocky kid, I used to watch this guy and say “wow”! This guy is one of the best martial artists of all times,” said Bisping after the final result was announced.

Bispining’s unanimous decision victory (3X 48-47) was built with strong performances on the 1st, 2nd and 4th rounds.

Silva, as usual, relied on his elusive style and his showmanship, looking for that one highlight reel strike that would end the fight.

While the Brazilian did that, Bisping started to connect his punches and score points with the judges.

A knockdown on the 2nd was his high point in the fight, but Silva was able to defend it well with his back on the canvas.

The third round was the most controversial, as Silva finally caught a break at the very end of the 5-minute period.

A left hand popped Bisping’s mouth piece out and Silva worked his knees until he landed a powerful strike to the head that threw his opponent to the ground in the same exact moment the bell went off.

Anderson went on to celebrate what he thought was a knock out win, but referee Herb Dean said the fight was not over.

On the fourth round, instead of finishing Bisping, once again Silva stepped back and allowed the Brit to recover and even win the round.

Knowing he was behind, Silva was more active in the 5th and clearly won that one with beautiful punches and strikes, including his trademark straight kick.

After the final bell, the judges decided in favor of Bisping and Silva was not happy.

In Portuguese, he said: “You guys saw what happened. Even when you think you won, they find a way to take it away from you. I thought the mission was completed. It’s like Brazil, total corrupt.”

The thrill of making his debut in the UFC lasted less than a week for Augusto Mendes.

The black belt Jiu-Jitsu world champion suffered a rib injury and was forced out of the UFC Fight Night 81 fight against Charles Rosa just days after agreeing to replace also injured Jimy Hettes on a week’s notice.

He will be replaced by Kyle Bochniak.

Tanquinho will probably be booked to fight on another date.

UFC Fight Night 81 goes down this Sunday, Jan. 16, with the bantamweight title fight between TJ Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz as its main event.

UFC Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw will meet former champion Renan Barão this Saturday, July 25, in Chicago.

Barão lost the title to Dillashaw on May 24, 2014, after a TKO defeat to the American.

Campeão de Jiu-Jitsu, Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira recebeu um novo chamado do UFC. Agora, o faixa-preta encara Max Holloway em Saskatoon, no Canadá, no dia 23 de agosto. O combate será o principal do evento e terá duração de cinco rounds. Segundo a organização, que divulgou a luta, o vencedor poderá ser apontado como o próximo desafiante ao cinturão dos penas, hoje em posse do brasileiro José Aldo.

Aos 25 anos, Charles do Bronx (20v,4d) está em sétimo no ranking da categoria no UFC, e acumula quatro vitórias seguidas na organização. Em maio, o paulista finalizou Nik Lentz na guilhotina, no UFC Condit x Alves, em São Paulo. Já seu adversário, Max Holloway (13v, 3d) vem de seis vitórias consecutivas no Ultimate.

Em abril, Max, quinto do ranking, também usou a guilhotina para finalizar Cub Swanson, no UFC on Fox 15.
