You thought you had seen everything about UFC 193? Well, think again.

The UFC just released another highlight reel with more amazing footage of that incredible evening of November 15.

The UFC released today a new video with previously unreleased footage of both Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm after their fight at UFC 193.

Watch how was Rousey’s long way back to the locker rooms after the KO defeat to Holm.

After what is being called the “biggest upset in UFC history” happened at the main event of UFC 193, many analysts have been trying to explain what happened in Melbourne, last Saturday evening.

How come Holly Holm was so dominating against Ronda Rousey?

The first aspect of Holm’s performance was the mindset.

“Holm had an unwavering belief in her preparation and training – and it showed – as she stayed calm no matter where the fight went. In the clinch, on the ground – Holm even pulled off a takedown against Rousey – Holm dictated the pace of the fight and let Rousey be the aggressor.” wrote Matt Parrino on UFC.com.

To some, the fight was nothing more than a Boxing vs. MMA affair.

“Not only did Holm make Rousey look utterly foolish with her boxing from the get-go, but she had the gall to take Rousey down at the end of the 1st round. The final insult from the boxer was to finish Rousey with a head kick, which is completely illegal in boxing and would’ve resulted in a DQ loss. Game, set, and match. Holm has proven to everyone that any high-level boxer who seriously commits to training in MMA will become a championship caliber fighter in MMA. If a high-level MMA fighter were to commit to pro boxing and face elite opposition, they would not have the same level of success. There’s a greater chance of Wladimir Klitschko beating Junior dos Santos in MMA than JDS beating Wlad in boxing.” wrote Mookie Alexander on Bloody Elbow.

To others, Holm was just too much for Rousey to handle

“A perfectly executed game plan was all it took to humanize Rousey, who was on the cusp of entering the pantheon of all-time sports greats, (…) When the time came to unload, she did. Holm was brilliant. She was everything people thought she was not — poised, opportunistic, superior. That head kick will last forever.” wrote Chuck Mindenhall on MMA Fighting.

The importance of Holm’s camp was also stressed:

“However, like you see in every sport, when one person or team puts some distance between themselves and the peloton, it doesn’t take those left behind a long time to figure out what they’re doing to gain a decisive advantage. Enter Mike Winkeljohn and Greg Jackson, two of the sports best coaches who have collaboratively prepared many a mixed martial artist for what was supposed to be an unwinnable fight. They took Holm and gave her a game plan that had been carefully constructed to take away the safe areas of the fight for Rousey — taking away her “teddy bear” as Jackson put it after the fight. Holm forced her into positions where she wasn’t comfortable, and that gave her the ability to utilize her world-class striking arsenal.” wrote Greg Savage at Sherdog.com.

On the other side, Rousey’s apparently poorly executed camp was also a factor:

“Rousey fought a stupid fight and the fact that her coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, told her it was “beautiful” when she walked back to the corner, her mouth busted up and full of blood, after the first round is the epitome of what went wrong for the now former champion in this fight, likely in this camp and over the last couple years. A bronze medal-winning judoka who started her career tapping out foes in under 60 seconds believed she could stand with a multiple time world champion boxer – one who had a size and reach advantage and fights southpaw, which is always another awkward thing to deal with. It was a game plan built from this belief that Rousey had suddenly become world-class boxer because she clipped Alexis Davis and knocked out Bethe Correia, neither of whom had remotely the skills Holm brought to the table.” wrote E. Spencer Kyte on The Province.

The 2nd round KO after a powerful high kick landed on Ronda’s face was the peak of a exuberant performance by the former boxer.

Holm controlled the action throughout the fight and was able to annul Ronda’s strongest weapons, including the famous judo hip throw and the armbar.

No mundo das artes marciais mistas, guardando as inevitáveis proporções, o UFC também virou de ponta-cabeça, com a derrota espetacular da então dominante rainha Ronda Rousey. Analistas da imprensa nacional e internacional repetem: é uma nova era para o MMA, ao menos para o feminino.

Mas o que fez Ronda Rousey cair esticada com a sequência de golpes da boxeadora e campeã de kickboxing Holly Holm? Apenas méritos da nova campeã peso-galo? Ou erros evidentes da faixa-preta, que até começou melhor na luta, mas saiu do UFC 193 para o hospital, com os lábios machucados?

“Acho que a Ronda se complicou. Até então ela nunca tinha precisado de um plano de jogo de segurança. A estratégia dela sempre havia sido partir para cima, trocar em pé, grudar, derrubar e finalizar. A Holly, como especialista em pé, com um boxe afiadíssimo usou e abusou do trabalho de pés, atrapalhando todo o jogo da Ronda, que não a encontrou, e continuou sempre indo para cima sem um plano B”, analisou Canto.

“Enquanto isso, os socos da Holly iam entrando e a Ronda foi ficando cada vez menos inteira para fazer suas principais posições. Uma coisa é buscar uma queda ou a chave de braço estando 100%, a outra é tentar isso já abalada fisicamente. Fica complicado”, apontou.

E para a revanche, que deve ser concedida ano que vem? Ronda deve deixar seu instinto caçador em casa e jogar no contra-ataque? Flávio resume:

O UFC 193 foi reservado para um grandioso estádio na Austrália do tamanho do susto que os fãs do MMA teriam, ao cabo do evento e da luta principal entre Ronda Rousey e a desafiante Holly Holm, pelo cinturão peso-galo.

Aos 34 anos e com 1,73m de altura, a longelínea e perigosa americana Holly Holm fez valer o poder de seus diretos e de sua canelada, e deixou Ronda abatida, estirada na lona do UFC, aos 59s do segundo assalto. Foi apenas sua terceira luta no Octagon de Dana White.

No primeiro round, Ronda não quis tocar as luvas – fruto da pesagem quente na véspera – e foi para cima. A campeã de judô até conseguiu se aproximar, fazer o clinche e ir para o chão, mas Holly se sacudiu para livrar-se de um bote nas costas e de um armlock. Em pé, no entanto, Ronda já sangrava no nariz.

Na segunda etapa, Ronda manteve o ímpeto e a tática de caçar Holm, mas o punho da desafiante a deixou grogue, logo no primeiro minuto. Enquanto Ronda recuava e procurava voltar a si, o chute que mais pareceu um míssil deu cabo então da grande rainha das finalizações.

Nas redes sociais de GRACIEMAG, dezenas de professores, atletas e treinadores comentaram a derrota de Ronda. “Você não deve caçar uma striker desse nível”, opinou Bruno Tanque, professor da Soul Fighters. “Especialmente se você é a campeã. O mais inteligente seria aguardar a desafiante tomar a iniciativa, e não ir para cima e dar brechas”.

Holly Holm is the new UFC Bantamweight champion

The UFC female bantamweight division has a new champion.

Holly Holm needed one round and 59s to defeat Ronda Rousey and become the new queen of the weight class.

Since the first moments of the fight, Holm was able to keep her distance and hit Ronda with a series of punches that immediately started to punish the champion’s face.

Ronda was able to take the fight to the ground once, but Holm managed to get up without having her arm threatened.

As soon as the 2nd round began, Holly kept her strategy and followed to punish Rousey until close to the first minute mark.

That’s when a high kick to the neck threw Ronda to the ground and Holm followed to finish the fight with a few more punches until referee Herb Dean stopped the fight.

Later on, Hom talked about her accomplishment: “I’m trying to sink in all that happened in. Everything we planed for the fight, happened. I knew she was going to com after me and I was ready for that.”

Ronda Rousey was transported to a local hospital in Melbourne after the fight. “She had a tore uper lip and also because she was knocked out,” explained Dana White.

The UFC president tried to define what had just happened in the octagon: “It was one of those moments that makes fighting so fun. I was the one who put this fight together and I heard a lot of people saying it was not a good fight. I knew this was the right fight. Holm was an opponent like no other for Ronda. She had three times more fightes than Ronda and she was used to title fights. We will not decide on a rematch right now, but it obviously makes sense.”

Holm talked about what he felt when the fight was offered to her: “I wasn’t expecting for the phone to ring that soon, but I also knew that you can’t turn away an opportunity like that if you want to get somewhere. So, I said let’s go and started to work hard. I can’t even tell you how many times I cried in my camp after a bad session. I knew I had to go back in there and give my best if I wanted to be the champion.”

Things got heated during the face-off between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm, this Friday, in Australia.

After the weigh in, Ronda came way too close to Holm’s face, who used her right fist to push back Rousey’s face.

Dana White stepped in as Rousey yelled at her motionless opponent.

The main event this Saturday should be fun.
