Last December GRACIEMAG.com, in partnership with Sony Music, launched a special contest for Jiu-Jitsu practitioners who dig MMA.

To join the running, all GRACIEMAG.com readers had to do was explain which fight from UFC history they learned the most from.

The 2010 fight of the year deserved a movie. And the producers didn’t disappoint. The documentary that shows the routine of the UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and the bout against Chael Sonnen was released during Rio Festival, in October, and will get to the theaters soon.

A luta do ano passado merecia um filme. E os produtores não decepcionaram. O documentário que mostra a rotina do campeão dos médios do UFC, Anderson Silva, foi lançado no Festival do Rio, em outubro, e deve ganhar os cinemas em breve.

In beating Chael Sonnen at UFC 117 back in August 2010, Anderson Silva had to rely on his Jiu-Jitsu to save his skin, pulling off a last ditch armbar from the triangle with just 1:50 minutes left on the clock. Having dispatched Brian Stann with a submission hold last Saturday, Sonnen took the opportunity to call out the “Spider” for a rematch while still in the octagon. Furthermore, according to Sonnen, he is the de facto champion of the UFC’s middleweight division and Anderson’s belt is nothing more than a worthless piece of metal.

Regardless of Sonnen’s taunting, Silva knows the gentle art may turn out to be a decisive weapon when he and Chael meet. As their fight looks likely to be confirmed, Silva has already taken to training for it, in the gi.

Erick Silva, a fighter on the UFC roster and member of Team Nogueira, posted a photo over Twitter (@ErickSilvaMMA) this Tuesday. The black belt appears alongside Anderson Silva, Sylvio Behring and another friend after a session training in the gi.

Quando derrotou Chael Sonnen no UFC 117, em agosto de 2010, Anderson Silva precisou recorrer às técnicas do Jiu-Jitsu para se safar com um armlock do triângulo quando faltavam apenas 1min50s para soar o gongo final. Depois de derrotar Brian Stann com finalização no sábado passado, Sonnen pediu a revanche contra o Aranha. Aliás, segundo o americano, o verdadeiro campeão da categoria de médios é ele mesmo e o cinturão com Anderson não passa de um pedaço de metal sem valor.

Independentemente das provocações, Silva sabe que a arte suave pode ser uma arma definitiva contra Chael, já que o combate deve realmente ser confirmado. Sendo assim, já começaram os treinos, e de kimono.

Erick Silva, lutador do UFC e integrante do Team Nogueira, postou uma foto no seu Twitter (@ErickSilvaMMA) nesta terça-feira. O faixa-preta aparece ao lado de Anderson Silva, Sylvio Behring e mais um amigo, após um treino de pano. Erick ainda colocou a frase:

“Hoje, no treino de Jiu-Jitsu com mestre o Sylvio Behring e Anderson Silva… Nunca serão…. Jamais serão…. “, brincou.

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, considered by many to be the best in the world at present, often displays a personality hard to decipher. However, now everyone can get to know the other side of the “Spider”.

Now the outcome of all that you already know, but that doesn’t mean it’s not incredible news.

The premier for the show will April 21 at the Tribeca Festival.

Chael Sonnen was caught out in the test for illicit substances after his fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 117. The urine-analysis results showed above-normal levels of testosterone, which would lead to enhanced performance.

The fighter did suggest he was taking an illegal substance prior to taking the test that would ultimately come up positive, as reported in a Sports Illustrated interview with the California State Athletic Commission’s George Dodd: “He only indicated that he was taking it but he never indicated why. Hejust let me know he was taking [something]. But when you do take it you still have to show a medical reason.”

Initially, Chael is suspended from the UFC for six weeks, during which the fighter will be allowed to present his defense. Sonnen may then end up banned from the octagon for a full year, as well as pay a 2,500-dollar fine.

Chael Sonnen foi flagrado no exame antidoping depois da luta contra Anderson Silva, no UFC 117.  O nível de testosterona na urina do lutador, segundo os exames, estava bem acima do normal, o que definitivamente melhoraria a performance do atleta.

Entretanto, uma das justificativas nos bastidores é de que Sonnen passava por problemas estomacais na semana anterior à luta e poderia ter tomado medicamentos. Apesar de não ter entrado em detalhes, esta inclusive foi a defesa do lutador.

“Ele só disse que estava tomando um medicamento, mas nunca disse o motivo. Sonnen só foi falar dessa medicação quando foi chamado para explicar o ocorrido, mas nunca apresentou uma razão médica”, declara o diretor executivo da Comissão Atlética da Califórnia, George Dodd, em entrevista ao site da revista “Sports Illustrated”.

Chael está previamente suspenso do UFC por seis semanas. Neste período, o lutador apresentará a sua defesa. Sonnen pode ficar, pelo menos, um ano afastado do octagon, além de pagar uma multa de 2.500 dólares.

After a hard-fought title fight at the August 7 UFC 117 event, where Anderson Silva pulled off a come-from-behind win over Chael Sonnen, a rematch was almost immediately scheduled for 2011. Now, though, those plans may be scrapped altogether.

With the recent revelation that Sonnen has failed the California Athletic Commission’s mandatory performance-enhancing-substances test, the future of the matchup is uncertain. So far, though, neither the fighter in question nor UFC president Dana White have addressed the matter.

Sonnen’s punishment should be announced in the days to come, and the fight with Silva will likely not happen too soon. This clears the way for a possible fight with Vitor Belfort, who is scheduled to face Yushin Okami on November 13, or perhaps a rematch with Nate Marquardt, who is coming off a win over Rousimar Toquinho.
