Joseph Capizzi, black belt under Renzo Gracie and head instructor of GMA NYC BJJ, will be teaching two seminars to help spread the knowledge of his guillotine. With a new DVD out, he will be running workshops with the same name: Mastering the Guillotine

Joseph will be at South Jersey BJJ on Nov. 12 from 6 – 9 p.m.

South Jersey BJJ is located at 2 New Jersey 73, Berlin Boro, NJ 08009.

On Dec. 13, he will be teaching at Serra BJJ from 2 – 3 p.m.

Serra BJJ is located at 2949 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown NY 11756.

Each seminar will cost $50 per person, open to anyone.
All attendees receive the Mastering the Guillotine DVD.

The MTG workshops consist of:
2 hours decoding the concepts from the DVD as well as drilling them.
30 minutes guillotine only training
30 minutes Q and A or bonus moves

With the north/south guillotine, Joe says, “This move will make it feel like your head is going to explode.” If that’s not effective, I don’t know what is.

Having a goal of competition gold is an accomplishment many people share. As we all know, having a support group and surrounding yourself with people who share the same goal is very beneficial. A new highlight video of GMA member black belt Joseph Capizzi and his student purple belt heavyweight Oleksander Karliychuk shows footage of their action in the past year. Representing Staten Island, New York and Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, the two travel all over the country to test their skills.

In the video below of the two athletes, although very different in size as Capizzi competes as a roosterweight, show a similar style in both gi and no-gi. Their drive to test themselves has taken them from one coast to the other, NY Open to the World Championship in California. Check out the transitions, submissions and scrambles that execute how one instructor-student team can do wonders while working together towards a shared goal.

Segundo sites de jornais como “New York Times” e “Wall Street Journal”, a biografia do ex-policial e hoje professor, que ensina em Staten Island, Nova York, faz lembrar como era bizarra a criminalidade do lugar nos anos 1980, antes da política da tolerância zero que botou a metrópole nos trilhos.

“Eu posso não ter me comportado, mas fiz mais coisas boas do que ruins”, diz Codella, na resenha do “NY Times”. O faixa-preta reflete com uma citação de Buda, traduzida aqui livremente: “É a própria mente de um homem, e não seus inimigos ou destino, que o levam ao mau caminho”.

Renzo Gracie black belt and former NYPD Mike Codella just published Alphaville1988, Crime, Punishment and the Battle for New York City’s Lower East Side, a book of memoirs that’s causing quite a stir.

According to the websites of newspapersThe New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, the former police officer who is now teaches in Staten Island, New York, is a reminder of how bizarre the criminal world of the place was in the 1980s, before a zero-tolerance policy put the metropolis on the right track.

“I might not have always behaved, but I did more good things than bad,” says Codella in the New York Times review. The black belt reflects on a quote by Buddha: “It is a man’s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.”
