Xande Ribeiro and James Puopolo spent the day training and teaching some great no-gi techniques.

Following the training session, they took the time to talk about the challenges they will face in the UK in two weeks’ time.

Two GMA schools from Oregon co-hosted a Xande Ribeiro seminar last weekend.

Five Rings JJ and Seaside BJJ got together for providing their students with some top notch techniques from the two times absolute black belt world chapion.

Tom Oberhue, leader of Five Rings BJJ, wrote about the experience on his Blog: “Xande demonstrated the power of clean technique, understanding leverage, and keeping “connections” over and over throughout the afternoon – working escapes from mount bottom, cross-sides, kaza gatami / head-and-arm, and north / south. He flipped the equation and demonstrated how pressure and flow are profoundly important in passing the guard.”

The class was a complete success.

Seaside Oregan JJ Academy, run by brothers Zach and Natan Adansom has joined the team.

They both are recent brown belts under another GMA member, Rafael Lovato Jr.

Zach and Nate began training in 2003. Four years later, they joined Lovato’s association.

Here is what they see as their mission in BJJ: “Jiu Jitsu is a sport, a self-defense, and a complete lifestyle. It is a unique sport because it is a team practice while individuals work on their own goals and accomplishments. This helps people grow tremendously as individuals while instilling team work and friendship. Our academy is dedicated to building a better community, as well as, better human beings.”
