<p>But our Korean guy did more. Not only he trained a lot in the three months he spent in Brazil, but he also decided to sign in for two competitions.</p>
<p>Just taking part in a competition when you are so far away from home is quite an achievement, but our Korean purple belt did more.</p>
<p>He won.</p>

<p>GMA member school Roots Korea head instructor Jo Jaesub managed to win a gold medal (61-67kg master) and  a bronze medal (Absolute) at the Copa Prata da Casa; and two silver medals (61-67kg master, Absolute) at the Rio State Championship tournament.</p>
<p>Roots BJJ, a network of schools in Australia and Korea, is headed by black belt Paulo Guimaraes.</p>
