Kawajiri is a former Shooto champion, having beaten Vitor Shaolin. He’s also fought for the UFC, Pride and Dream, making him Gracie’s most experienced opponent so far by a good margin.

With plenty of confidence in his guard and some good work in short-distance boxing, which he’s been honing with the Diaz brothers, Kron sought the win throughout. Eventually he got his foe’s back and used a rear naked choke to decide the fight — it was his fourth consecutive submission win.

Rizin FC held its year-end event last night and featured names such as veteran Mirko Cro Cop and black-belts Kron Gracie and Gabi Garcia. A son of Rickson Gracie, Kron did the night’s co-main event and achieved his fourth MMA win as he subbed Tatsuya Kawajiri (35-11-2) via rear naked choke.

World champion Gabi Garcia knocked out 49-year-old Yumiko Hotta in just 41 seconds, also reaching her fourth win in MMA.

In the main event, former Pride champion Mirko Cro Cop became the champion of the Rizin 2016 Openweight World Grand Prix as he KO’d former wrestling world champ Amir Aliakbari. He had already KO’d Baruto in a semifinal and Muhammad Lawal in a quarterfinal.

Rizin FC has begun putting together the card for its New Year’s Eve show at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. The organization announced this week that Rickson Gracie’s son, Kron, will face Japan’s Tatsuya Kawajiri.

Kron Gracie is undefeated in MMA and seeking his fourth win. An ADCC champion and BJJ Worlds runner-up, Kron has won every MMA bout so far via submission. Kawajiri left the UFC after three straight losses and hasn’t fought since 2014.

Após anos de entrave na justiça e muitas polêmicas no caminho, Wanderlei Silva está oficialmente de volta ao MMA. Após uma severa punição da Comissão Atlética de Nevada (NSAC), e a mesma ser reduzida de um banimento a suspensão, Wand agitou as coisas e conseguiu assinar com o Bellator, evento rival de sua antiga organização, o UFC.

A informação foi divulgada por nota oficial do Bellator enviada à mídia. Ainda sem data para estreia ou adversário definidos, fica claro que o retorno de Wand aos cages pelo Bellator não será tão cedo. A suspensão do Cachorro Louco para atuar no estado de Nevada, que é respeitada até fora do estado, perdurará até 2017. Com isso, a opção mais lógica para um de Wand ainda este ano seria no Rizin FC, organização japonesa oriunda do Pride FC que não segue as designações da NSAC.

Wanderlei Silva(35v, 12d, 1e, 1nc) está com 39 anos, e acumula no currículo um título no Pride e diversos recordes na organização. No UFC, protagonizou batalhes épicas contra Chuck Liddell, Brian Stann e foi técnico do “TUF”, em time oposto ao do falastrão Chael Sonnen.
