With 1,653 competitors on the roster, the 25th Amazonas State Jiu-Jitsu Championship took place last weekend in the state capital of Manaus. The cream of Amazonas’s gentle-art crop took to the mats at Bergão Gymnasium, and the big name to rise to the top was Thiago Reinaldo, who won the absolute black belt division by outpointing the police officer Victor Hugo, according to our contributor Arthur Castro. With the result, the representative of Professor Henrique Machado’s team Asle won the event for the fourth time.

Others who did well in Manaus were Rigoney Júnior (winner of the absolute in the master black belt contest), Victor Hugo (absolute winner at adult brown belt), Gregori Rodrigues and Fábio Sales (closed out the purple belt absolute) and Risível Fidel (blue belt absolute winner). Jacqueline Amorim won the female open weight class, and Ivanci Olivieira topped the juvenile contest.

In the overall team contest, first place went to Associação Monteiro, followed by Carioca Team and Clube Pina. Associação dedicated the title to their student Diego Trindade, who passed away, a victim of urban violence in the city of Manaus.

Com 1.653 inscritos, rolou no último fim de semana em Manaus o 25º Campeonato Amazonense de Jiu-Jitsu. A competição reuniu a nata da arte suave amazonense no Ginásio do Bergão e o grande nome do evento foi Thiago Reinaldo, que levou o absoluto faixa-preta ao bater o cadete da polícia militar Victor Hugo, por pontos, segundo informou o colaborador Arthur Castro. Com o resultado, o atleta da Asle, academia do professor Henrique Machado, conquistou o tetracampeonato do evento.

Outros que mandaram bem em Manaus foram Rigoney Júnior (campeão do absoluto master preta), Victor Hugo (absoluto marrom adulto), a dupla Gregori Rodrigues e Fábio Sales (absoluto roxa) e Risível Fidel (absoluto azul). Jacqueline Amorim foi a campeã no aberto feminino e Ivanci Oliveira, o melhor do juvenil.

Entre as equipes, a grande campeã foi a Associação Monteiro, seguida pela Carioca Team e o Clube Pina. O título da Associação foi dedicado ao aluno Diego Trindade, que faleceu, vítima da violência urbana na Cidade de Manaus.
