Three thousand dollars were earmarked for the winner of the principal division, the brown-and-black belt absolute. And the one who left all the richer was Roberto Gordo black belt Antonio Braga Neto.

“He won the heavyweight and absolute divisions,” recounts Igor Gracie, celebrating the event’s success.

“In all there were 300 athletes signed up, a good result seeing as it’s the first Renzo No-Gi championship,” he adds.

Na principal categoria em disputa, o absoluto faixa-marrom e preta, três mil dólares estavam destinados ao campeão. E quem levou a melhor nessa foi o faixa-preta de Roberto Gordo Antonio Braga Neto. 

“Ele ganhou na categoria pesado e no absoluto”, conta Igor Gracie, que comemora o sucesso do evento. 

“No total tiveram 300 atletas inscritos, um bom resultado já que foi o primeiro campeonato do Renzo sem kimono”, completa.

No Renzo Gracie No-Gi Open, os atletas da faixa-marrom e preta disputam US$3,000 no absoluto. O evento, uma das atrações da MMA World Expo,  acontece em Nova York, no dia 13 de novembro, nas instalações do Jacob Javits Convention Center. A expectativa é de que aproximadamente mil atletas participem, somando todas as categorias. 

“Todos na academia estamos animados por fazer parte da MMA World Expo e pela oportunidade de demonstrar a importância do jogo de chão, especialmente o Jiu-Jitsu, no mixed martial arts”, comenta Renzo.

The Renzo Gracie No-Gi Open is offering US$ 3,000 in prize money for the brown or black belt winner of the absolute division.
