This BJJ technique was created by Rafael “Barata” Freitas, a top black belt athlete from Gracie Barra New Mexico.

Rafael Freitas discovered his renowned “Baratoplata” submission when he was only a purple belt and he still uses the move today at highest level Jiu Jitsu competitions.

Keenan Cornelius

The IBJJF has added three new fighters to the roster of the next BJJ Pro League.

The event that takes place next December 8, at the Long Beach Pyramid.

Rafael Freitas and Gabriel Moraes were added to the Rooster/Light-feather/Feather division, now complete with also Caio Terra and Laercio Fernandes.

In the medium-heavy/heavy division, Keenan Cornelius is the third competitor confirmed.

Roberto Alencar and Nivaldo Oliveira complete the division that still lacks one fighter.

Dia 8 de dezembro, sábado, a IBJJF apresenta aos fãs um campeonato que promete ser um marco, uma reivindicação antiga dos competidores. Com a primeira edição do IBJJ Pro League, o Jiu-Jitsu enfim tem um ranking com os melhores faixas-pretas do mundo, e um torneio com prêmios em dinheiro para os principais batalhadores da arte suave.

E agora? Quem será o melhor entre os melhores, no fim da temporada? Qual será a melhor luta do evento?

Paralelamente, o Long Beach Fall Open ocorrre na mesma Pirâmide, a partir das 9h da manhã. A IBJJ Pro League começa a partir das 15h. O curioso é que os últimos atletas serão classificados para a Liga logo depois do Long Beach Fall Open.

This coming Saturday, December 8, the IBJJF will be treating fans to a tournament they’ve been promising since back in March–one competitors have been dreaming of since way back. With the maiden IBJJ Pro League event, Jiu-Jitsu finally has a system ranking the best black belts in the world, and a tournament paying out cash prizes to the gentle-art’s top warriors.

So, who will turn out to be the best of the best come season’s end? Which will be the best match of the event?

Running alongside the Pro League at the same pyramid-shaped gymnasium, the Long Beach Fall Open will kick off at 9 AM. The IBJJ Pro League will begin at 3 PM. The interesting part is that the final berths in the League will only be filled once the Long Beach Fall Open is done.

A pirâmide de Long Beach, na Califórnia, vai receber no dia 8 de dezembro a estreia do IBJJ Pro League, com prêmios em dinheiro para os melhores faixas-pretas da temporada.

Para enriquecer a disputa até 88kg, André Galvão (Atos) e Vitor Oliveira (GFTeam) confirmaram no fim de semana presença na Liga. Diariamente, a IBJJF vem anunciando alguns nomes certos na disputa pelos 5 mil dólares. São oitos atletas por categoria, brigando pelo prêmio

This coming December 8, the pyramid-shaped gymnasium in Long Beach, California, will host the inaugural IBJJ Pro League, with cash prizes for the top performers among a handful of competitors who placed at the top of the table the past season.

To spice up the under-88 kg division, André Galvão of team Atos and Vitor Oliveira of GFTeam confirmed that they will indeed join the running in the League. The IBJJF has been announcing the names already assured a shot at the 5,000 dollars in prize money. Each division will feature eight fighters.

Ontem, outros nomes foram anunciados, e assim vamos fechando a lista de atletas escalados para as quatro divisões de peso.

Houve outra novidade também. Além dos 5 mil doláres para o vencedor de cada categoria, o segundo colocado não vai voltar para casa de mãos vazias. Um prêmio de mil verdinhas será dado ao vice-campeão de cada divisão.
