Jiu-Jitsu oriented towards children has become the main focus at big academies. Besides providing a great number of benefits for kids and teenagers, through these programs the big teams are striving to produce new talent, since the average age of world champions has been progressively been getting younger with each year. In other words, the earlier a practitioner starts out on the mat, the earlier the fighter is launched on the competition circuit.

Nevertheless, most of the demand for Jiu-Jitsu academies still comes from boys and girls’ parents who want their kids to be healthy and confident.

Aluno do craque do UFC Alan Belcher e do faixa-preta Daniel Moraes, o pequeno Quinten “Fast Hands” Logan tem apenas 9 anos, mas tem sonhos e Jiu-Jitsu de gente grande.

Não à toa, ganhou o “respeito” até do todo-poderoso chefão Dana White.

Ainda é cedo para saber o que Quinten pode aprontar no futuro. O que chama atenção é como, no Jiu-Jitsu, se pode aprender até observando um treino de um molecote de 9 anos.

Primeira lição: o treino e a luta começam em pé. Para aproveitar isso, o “Mãos Rápidas” se especializou no double-leg, arma que usa para desestabilizar o oponente e começar a luta em posição de vantagem.

Segunda: o primeiro golpe já engatilha o segundo, a finalização. Obrigado pelo macete, ferinha.

It’s no wonder he earned the “respect” of the all-powerful Dana White.

It’s still too soon to know what Quinten will get up to in the future. What’s remarkable, though, is how, in Jiu-Jitsu, you can even learn by watching a nine-year-old train.

Lesson one: sparring and fighting start on the feet. To make the most of that, “Fast Hands” specialized in the double-leg takedown, a weapon he uses to take his opponent off balance and start the fight in an advantageous position.
