On November 28th and 29th, Firefighter Frank Cruz of B Platoon, Station 1 Federal Firefighters Guam, competed in the 2009 Tokyo Open Jiu Jitsu Championships held at the Tokyo Budokan.

He won the Masters purple belt middleweight division in four fights on November 28th and then fought to victory in four fights to win the purple belt master absolute title.

Frank is a proud husband and father of 5 and has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 9 years.

Upon winning this prestigious event, Frank was promoted to the brown belt by his instructor Stephen Roberto, of Purebred Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy Guam.

Frank continues in his quest to train and compete in his journey to the black belt level. Frank credits his jiu jitsu traing for getting him through the fire academy as well as the daily demands of a firefighter.
