Agora falta pouco para o desafio entre Renato Babalu e Dan Henderson, combate que vale como revanche e acontece no Strikeforce, neste sábado. 

No quinto episódio da série de vídeos “Natural Born Fighter”, Babalu afia as quedas, trabalha o Jiu-Jitsu e prova que está com o abdômen duro para aturar as pancadas de Henderson. 

“Quando estou ali não venço sozinho, a vitória é minha, do Rafael (Cordeiro), do Ratinho, da Gracie Barra… São todos contra um.”

There’s not long to go before the Renato Babalu-Dan Henderson showdown, a rematch set to take place Saturday at Strikeforce.

In the fifth episode of the “Natural Born Fighter” series, Babalu works on his takedowns, his Jiu-Jitsu, and proves his belly is hard enough to take any blows Henderson may throw at it.

“When I’m in there I don’t win along, the win is mine, Rafael’s (Cordeiro), Ratinho’s, Gracie Barra’s… All against one.”

Felipe “Gargamel” Mota, a Vini and Octávio “Ratinho” Couto black belt, was invited to teach the gentle art in Europe long ago. He docked in the town of Stavanger, Norway.

When he arrived there there were already some Jiu-Jitsu academies. However, the sport was still at an embryonic stage and thus none of them were officially registered, so the sport was not recognized in Norwegian territory.

After teaching class for some time, Felipe needed to request a work visa, with the aim of forging on in his work and, as a consequence, become a permanent resident of the country. Gargamel went to the consulate and requested the said visa.

To do so he needed to fill out a document with official justification of employment. The problem lay therein. He said he was a “Jiu-Jitsu” teacher. This justification was unacceptable, though, because as aforementioned, the sport was not a legal profession officially recognized by Norway’s minister of sport. They even suggested sticking in another profession. But being the stickler he is, Felipe insisted bureaucracy should be properly carried out, and thus would first need to make Jiu-Jitsu an official sport before registering himself as a teacher of the discipline.

The process was long and arduous. It took over a year before he received a letter straight from the government congratulating him on his effort and saying that he was of extreme importance to the sport’s development in the country. The registration process went through successfully. The style was made official in Norway.

Now, Felipe is the first person to hold the official title of Jiu-Jitsu teacher and the first to have an academy officially registered at the Ministry of Sport. Felipe has made it his task to take the name of his home academy AKXE BJJ to Europe. Felipe also does physical conditioning for MMA and performs in the sport professionally, always competing at the IBJJF European Championship.

Felipe “Gargamel” Mota, faixa-preta de Vini e Octávio Ratinho Couto, há muito foi convidado a ensinar a arte suave na Europa. Aportou então na cidade de Stavanger, na Noruega.

Quando chegou por lá já havia algumas academias de Jiu-Jitsu. Porém, o esporte ainda estava em nível embrionário e, por isso, nenhuma academia era oficialmente registrada. Logo, o esporte não era reconhecido nas terras norueguesas.

Depois de algum tempo ministrando aulas foi necessário que Felipe solicitasse um visto profissional, com o objetivo de continuar com os trabalhos e, consequentemente, tornar-se um residente permanente naquele país. Gargamel foi ao consulado e solicitou o referido visto.

Para tal, foi necessário preencher uma documentação com uma justificativa oficial de trabalho. Nesse ponto é que residia o problema. Ele disse que era “Professor de Jiu-Jitsu”. Porém, a justificativa não poderia ser aceita pela embaixada porque, conforme dito, o esporte não era uma profissão legalizada, oficialmente reconhecida pelo ministério dos esportes da Noruega. Cogitaram até mesmo colocar outro tipo de profissão para obter o visto. Mas, com uma personalidade forte, Felipe insistiu que a burocracia deveria ser feita da forma mais correta possível, e que seria necessário primeiramente tornar o esporte oficial para depois fazer o registro de professor em tal modalidade.

O processo foi longo e penoso. Já durava mais de um ano quando ele recebeu uma carta diretamente do Governo, que dava os parabéns por todo o trabalho desenvolvido e dizia ainda que ele era de extrema importância para o desenvolvimento da modalidade no país. O processo de registro foi realizado com sucesso. A modalidade passou a ser oficial na Noruega.

Hoje, Felipe é o primeiro a ter um visto oficial como professor de Jiu-Jitsu e o primeiro a ter uma academia oficialmente registrada no Ministério dos Esportes. Felipe fez questão de levar o nome de sua academia mãe, a AKXE BJJ, para a Europa. Felipe faz também preparações físicas para MMA e atua como profissional do esporte, lutando sempre o Europeu da IBJJF.
