No último fim de semana no Canadá, a IBJJF organizou mais uma edição do Montreal International Open. E quem se deu bem foi uma fera de Juiz de Fora, da academia BTT.

Leonardo Saggioro, o popular Cascão, foi campeão no peso leve, mas quis mais desafios, e caiu dentro do absoluto. Sua garra foi recompensada, e após final com Lucas Rocha, da GB, Cascão foi coroado com o ouro.

O pódio do absoluto foi completado pelos medalhistas de bronze Leonardo Costa (Tanque Jiu-Jitsu) e Todd Brandon (Soca BJJ).

Já na Alemanha, no sábado 14 de novembro, Jackson Sousa foi o grande rei absoluto do Berlin Open. O faixa-preta da Checkmat ficou com o ouro duplo, ao vencer o peso pesado, contra o checo Jaroslav Moltas (Pitbull).

Na final do absoluto, Jackson Sousa venceu Luca Anacoreta (Aeterna Jiu-Jitsu). No pódio, Allen Causevic (Valko BJJ) e Rodrigo Reis (Tanque Jiu-Jitsu) ficaram com o bronze.

O circuito internacional do Jiu-Jitsu desembarcou, nesse sábado 22 de novembro, na mágica Montreal, na parte francesa do Canadá.
No Montreal Open da IBJJF, Magid Hage foi o destaque da faixa-preta ao faturar o peso médio e o absoluto.

Na disputa pelo ouro absoluto, o faixa-preta da Gracie Barra venceu Thomas McMahon (Alliance), que por sua vez foi campeão no pesadíssimo.

O peso meio-pesado foi dominado por Daniel Simmler, faixa-preta da Gracie Elite América.

Na faixa-marrom, os holofotes foram para Sanad Armouti (Florian Martial Arts), campeão absoluto. Sanad ainda vencera a categoria meio-pesado.

Por equipes, os resultados foram:
1. Brazilian Top Team – 152
2. Gracie Barra – 132
3. Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu – 86

We are already approaching one of the biggest tournaments of the year–the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship. The 2015 edition will be full of athletes who have earned their ticket to the event by competing and winning the appropriate divisions at the national pro tournaments.

This past weekend on Oct. 4 & 5, GMA member Fabio Holanda held yet another championship in Montreal to distribute the travel packages to deserving contestants. Now dubbed the Canada National Pro – Montreal, the same awards were given.

This tournament, some of the divisions went back to being combined; the brown and black belts for male, the blue and purple for master male, and the purple, brow and black belts for the female absolute.

The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship has begun its events for the 2015 edition. This year the North American events will begin with Canada National Pro-Montreal.

GMA member Fabio Holando has put together the tournament once again and registration is now open.

If you win the qualifying division at the trial you will receive a travel package to compete at the main event next year in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The location of the Montreal trial is once again the Center Pierre-Charboneau: 3000 Viau St. Montreal, Canada.

Professor Fabio Holanda has led his GMA BTT Canada team to victory once more, this time near their home turf. The Montreal-based academy was successful in securing three trips to the 2014 World Championship at the Ontario International Open held May 3-4.

Terrie Schauer was the first to compete and win in the women’s blue belt light absolute earning her travel expenses to the Worlds.

A week after returning from the WPJJC in Abu Dhabi with a first place win, BTT purple belt Yacinta Nguyen continued her winning streak by securing two more gold medals in both her weight division and the heavy purple/brown/black belt absolute to earn her ticket.

Joining them this year is well-known veteran BJJ fighter and black belt Lee Villeneuve, who not only swept his division and the absolute in gi, but pulled off a repeat double gold performance in the no-gi divisions as well.

Over all BTT, upheld their reputation taking first place in no-gi and second place in gi as a team.

Of the many prize packages available to win at the Abu Dhabi WPJJC Montreal trial in Canada on Feb. 22, most of them were nabbed by the lower belts. A lot of the trips required a medal in the weight division and then later in an open weight division that was split for lighter athletes and heavier athletes.

Those who successfully get the ticket gain a paid trip to the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship main event in Abu Dhabi in the UAE. The package includes flight, hotel and food.

Males

The male athletes had to place in their weight division and then place first in the open weight.

Blue belt

Light absolute ticket winner: Angelo Guerrero-Barden – Atos Jiu-Jitsu
Angelo won the lightweight division.

Heavy absolute ticket winner: Tyler Beckley – Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu Detroit
Tyler also placed third in the super-heavyweight division.

Purple belt

Light absolute ticket winner: Dante Leon – Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu Detroit
Dante won the lightweight division.

Heavy absolute ticket winner: Benny Rupel – Clockwork BJJ
Benny won the ultra-heavyweight division.

Brown belt

Light absolute ticket winner: Sean Fisher – Precision Jiu-Jitsu
Sean placed third in the lightweight division.

Heavy absolute ticket winner: Mike Carbullido – Atos Jiu-Jitsu
Mike won the heavyweight division.

Female

The female athletes had to win open weight.

Blue belt

Light absolute ticket winner: Sandra Lanois-bazinet  – Ronin MMA

Heavy absolute ticket winner: Jacynthe Maloney – Brazilian Top Team

Purple belt

Light absolute ticket winner: Erin Herle – Cobrinha BJJ
