A categoria faixa-preta foi dominada pelos lutadores brasileiros. Se classificaram no masculino Wellington Megaton (65kg), Augusto Tanquinho (74kg), Alan Finfou (83kg), Yan Cabral (92kg) e José Junior (+92kg), além de Lúcio Lagarto, campeão do absoluto. Já no feminino as melhores foram Michelle Nicollini (63kg) e Monica Silva (+63kg).

Wellington Megaton (65kg), Augusto Tanquinho (74kg), Alan Finfou (83kg), Yan Cabral (92kg) and José Junior (+92kg), as well as absolute winner Lúcio Lagarto all qualified for the main event in Abu Dhabi. Now the female winners were Michelle Nicollini (63kg) and Monica Silva (+63kg).

Aconteceu no último sábado, nas proximidades de Lisboa, a Seletiva para o World Pro em Portugal, evento organizado pelos faixas-pretas Sérgio Vita e Zé Marcello. Com a proximidade do Campeonato Europeu, foi grande o número de brasileiros inscritos no evento, que dominaram na faixa-preta.

Como já noticiado aqui no GRACIEMAG.com, o campeão absoluto foi Lucio “Lagarto” (Gracie Barra), que venceu Alan “Finfou” (CheckMat) na finalíssima. Mas muitos foram os destaques na competição, que contou com aproximadamente 180 participantes no Pavilhão dos Lombos, em Cascais ,que fica a 25km de Lisboa.

No peso até 65kg o melhor foi o veterano Wellington “Megaton” (Gracie Humaitá), agora garantido com todas as despesas pagas no World Pro, em Abu Dhabi. Já na categoria até 74kg, o melhor foi Augusto Mendes “Tanquinho” (Soul Fighters). O faixa-preta finalizou os dois primeiros combates e venceu a decisão pelo elástico placar de 18 a 0.

Na categoria até 83kg, levou a melhor Alan Finfou, que também foi finalista no absoluto. No peso até 92kg, Yan Cabral (Tarântula) bateu o campeão absoluto Lúcio “Lagarto” na decisão. “Foi o maior lutão. Apliquei uma queda no início, ele me raspou, mas depois devolvi a raspagem”, conta Yan ao GRACIEMAG.com.

Já na categoria acima de 92kg, levou a melhor a fera de Araruama, no Rio de Janeiro, Jose Junior.

E as meninas também estiveram em ação. Na categoria até 63kg, a campeã foi Michelle Nicolini (CheckMat), que derrotou Mackenzie Dern da decisão. Já no peso acima, a vencedora foi Monica Silva (2 Brothers).

“Foi a primeira vez que acontece uma qualificação para o World Pro em Portugal e a opinião de todos foi bastante positiva. Esperamos que no próximo ano seja ainda melhor e com uma resposta dos atletas a mesma altura”, comenta o organizador Sergio Vita, o Telinho.

This Saturday on the outskirts of Lisbon, the World Pro tryouts organized by Sérgio Vita and Zé Marcello took place. With the approach of the European Open, there was a large number of Brazilians signed up for the event, and they dominated the black belt division.

As previously reported here on GRACIEMAG.com, Lucio “Lagarto” (Gracie Barra) won the absolute division, beating Alan “Finfou” (CheckMat) in the final. But there were a number of standouts at the competition counting approximately 180 participants in the Pavilhão dos Lombos gymnasium in Cascais, 25 km outside of Lisbon.

The under 65 kg division was won by veteran Wellington “Megaton” (Gracie Humaitá), now guaranteed an all-expenses-paid trip to the World Pro main event in Abu Dhabi. Now the under 74 kg division was all Augusto “Tanquinho” Mendes’s (Soul Fighters). The black belt got the tapout in his first two matches and won the decider with an 18-0 drubbing.

In the under 83 kg division, Alan “Finfou” took gold, also making it to the final of the absolute. The under 92 kg winner was Yan Cabral (Tarântula), beating absolute champion Lúcio “Lagarto” iin the final. “It was a great match. I landed a takedown early on, he swept, but then I got him back with a sweep of my own,” Yan tells GRACIEMAG.com.

In the over 92 kg, José Junior, from Rio de Janeiro state beach town Araruama, took top honors.

The ladies were in action, too. The winner of the under 63 kg division was Michelle Nicolini (CheckMat), defeating Mackenzie Dern in the decider. In the weight class above, Monica Silva (2 Brothers) took the gold.

“It was the first time a World Pro qualifier was held in Portugal and everyone is of the opinion that it was quite positive. We hope next year will be even better and with the same response from the athletes,” remarks organizer Sergio “Telinho” Vita.
