Realizado no domingo, 27 de abril, na casa de shows Rio Sampa, em Nova Iguaçu, o evento Gringo Super Fight 10 foi marcado por emoções e polêmica.

Seis anos após a primeira luta entre ambos, o holandês Melvin Manhoef e o brasileiro Evangelista Cyborg voltaram a se enfrentar. Melvin de novo levou a melhor, desta vez via nocaute técnico com uma chuva de golpes no primeiro minuto de luta. O resultado, porém, foi contestado por Cyborg e sua equipe, que não gostaram da interrupção do árbitro Artur Mariano. Alegaram, ainda, que Manhoef desferiu uma joelhada no rosto de Cyborg enquanto este estava de três apoios, o que é considerado ilegal no MMA.

Com a vitória, Melvin Manhoef conquistou o título dos meio-médios e a chance de defendê-lo contra um algoz: o brasileiro Paulo Filho, responsável por derrotá-lo em 2009, em luta válida pelo Dream. À moda antiga, os dois se encararam dentro do cage do Gringo Super Fight logo após o duelo desse domingo, e só não anteciparam o combate ali mesmo porque foram impedidos por companheiros e seguranças. De acordo com o presidente do GSF, Antônio Tolentino, a revanche deve acontecer em novembro deste ano.

Melvin Manhoef enfrenta Mamed Khalidov no dia 8 de junho, no KSW 23, que será realizado na Polônia. Este duelo é muito esperado pelos fãs de MMA, que conhecem o estilo agressivo dos dois atletas. Esta será a estreia de Manhoef no evento, mas o peso médio  já passou por organizações como Strikeforce, Dream, One FC, além de campeonatos de kickboxing. Nos quase 18 anos de carreira, o surinameso naturalizado holandês cravou a marca de 25 nocautes em 39 lutas, entre eles, sobre nomes como Mark Hunt, Evangelista Cyborg e Kasushi Sakuraba.

Finalmente Mamed Khalidov e Melvin Manhoef se enfrentarão. Os pesos médios deveriam ter lutado em dezembro de 2012, mas uma lesão na perna esquerda afastou o atleta surinameso naturalizado holandês. Na ocasião ele foi substituído pelo ex-UFC Kendall Grove e o polonês Khalidov finalizou o combate com uma chave de calcanhar no segundo round, aumentando sua sequência invicta de vitórias para seis.

O duelo entre Khalidov e Manhoef é muito esperado pelos fãs de MMA, que conhecem o estilo agressivo dos atletas. O primeiro tem 14 finalizações e 11 nocautes no currículo de 32 lutas, já seu adversário  tem uma das mãos mais pesadas já vistas e levou à lona nomes como Mark Hunt, Evangelista Cyborg e Kasushi Sakuraba.

Melvin tem 36 anos e já passou por eventos como Strikeforce, Dream, One FC, além de campeonatos de kickboxing. Esta será a estreia dele no KSW. O atleta é empresariado pelo brasileiro Jorge Joinha Guimarães e Ed Soares da Black House e eles acreditam que logo o talento estará no UFC.

Jiu-Jitsu world champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes lived up to his nickname and finished Yoshiro Maeda, a former PRIDE fighter, at DREAM 18 on New Year’s Eve.

The black belt took just over a minute to take his opponent down and finish the Japanese fighter with a triangle in the first round.

With the result, the bantamweight nabs his 13th win in MMA.

In other action at the event, Jiu-Jitsu black belt Shinya Aoki dispatched Antonio McKee via technical knockout.

Holland’s Melvin Manhoef knocked out former Pride FC and UFC star Denis Kang with a flying knee.

The seasoned Tatsuya Kawajiri also came up spades, overcoming former UFC fighter Michihiro Omigawa via unanimous decision.

O faixa-preta amazonense só precisou de pouco mais de um minuto para derrubar, pegar as costas e apagar o japonês com um triângulo, ainda no primeiro assalto.

Com o resultado, o peso-galo chega à 13ª vitória no MMA, sua quinta seguida.

Nas outras lutas, destaque para o faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu Shinya Aoki, que venceu Antonio McKee por nocaute técnico.

In MMA’s top tier, there isn’t a fighter on par with them. Shinya Aoki and Rodrigo Minotauro, both Jiu-Jitsu black belts, are now tied in the number of submissions they have to their names in their professional careers—at 20 apiece.

Aoki’s 20th submission arose last Saturday in the main event of the One FC show in Singapore. The prized Yuki Nakai student at Paraestra academy needed just 1:25 minutes to put away Arnaud Lepont with a triangle choke. Now he should be getting a crack at the promotion’s lightweight title.

And the champion of the submission savant’s division was determined on the same night: South Korean fighter Kotetsu Boku used clinical striking to TKO Brazil’s Zorobabel Moreira in the third round and snap up the belt.

Now the bantamweight title went to his countryman Soo Chul Kim, who laid out Brazilian black belt Leandro Issa with a barrage of punches in the second round.

In the first round of the bantamweight GP, the USA’s Jens Pulver overcame China’s Zhao Ya Feia and Japan’s Masakatsu Ueda outdid Korea’s Min Jung Song. Both fights ended in unanimous decisions. Now Filipino champion Kevin Belington took out Russia’s Yusup Saadulaev via technical knockout to remain alive in the GP.

No MMA de alto nível, nenhum lutador é páreo para eles. Shinya Aoki e Rodrigo Minotauro, ambos faixas-pretas de Jiu-Jitsu, estão agora empatados no número de finalizações obtidas no MMA profissional – 20 para cada um.

A 20ª finalização de Aoki foi aplicada no último sábado, no duelo principal do One FC, em Cingapura. O craque japonês da academia Paraestra, de Yuki Nakai, só precisou de 1min25s para despachar Arnaud Lepont com um triângulo. Ele agora deve ganhar uma chance de disputar o cinturão dos leves do evento.
