Best black belts at South American Open

Augusto “Tanquinho” Mendes was the big name at this weekend’s South American Jiu-Jitsu Open in Santa Catarina. The Soul Fighters rep won the lightweight group and absolute winning both titles after facing Mario Reis in the final (read here). But there were a number of other black belts who put on swell showings at the São José Multiuso Arena.

At roosterweight, Leandro da Silva (CheckMat) took top spot. Now the light featherweight winner was Leandro Martins (CheckMat). At featherweight, Bruno Frazatto (Atos) took the gold, after beating Maximiliano Farias (CheckMat) in the decider.

Gracie Barra took first at middleweight, with Bruno Almeida. Another Atos ace, Vitor Toledo took top spot at medium heavyweight, having overcome Eduardo Milioli (Rilion Gracie) in the final. Ivaldo de Oliveira added another gold to CheckMat’s count, at heavyweight. João Severina and Mauro Oliveira shut out the super heavyweight class, which captured gold and silver for Rilion Gracie, while Gustavo Dias (CM System) brought joy to his master Cristiano Marcello’s heart by winning the ultra heavyweight.

Among the girls, Priscila Prandini (CheckMat) came out on top, winning both the medium heavyweight and the open weight classes at brown/black belt.

In the adult division, Gracie Barra won the team contest, followed by Atos and CheckMat.

Os melhores faixas-pretas no Sul-Americano

Augusto Mendes “Tanquinho” foi o maior destaque no Sul-Americano de Jiu-Jitsu, neste fim de semana, em Santa Catarina. O lutador da Soul Fighters venceu no peso leve e absoluto com duas finais contra o bicampeão mundial Mario Reis (leia clicando aqui). Mas muitos foram os faixas-pretas que fizeram bonito na Arena Multiuso de São José.

No peso galo, o melhor foi Leandro da Silva (CheckMat). Já o campeão no pluma foi Leandro Martins (CheckMat). No pena, o ouro foi para Bruno Frazatto (Atos), que bateu Maximiliano Farias (CheckMat) na decisão.

A Gracie Barra ficou em primeiro no médio, com Bruno Almeida. Mais um da Atos, Vitor Toledo subiu no alto do pódio no meio-pesado, tendo batido Eduardo Milioli (Rilion Gracie) na final. Nivaldo de Oliveira garantiu mais um pódio para a CheckMat no pesado. João Zeferino e Mauro Oliveira fecharam no superpesado, o que valeu o ouro e a prata para a Gracie Florianópolis, enquanto Gustavo Dias (CM System) deixou o mestre Cristiano Marcello todo alegre, tendo vencido no pesadíssimo.

Entre as meninas, a melhor foi Priscila Prandini (CheckMat), com o primeiro lugar no meio-pesado e absoluto faixa-marrom e preta.

Na categoria adulto, a Gracie Barra foi a campeã por equipes, seguida da Atos e CheckMat.
