The current lightweight champion of the world in Gi Jiu-Jitsu, Leandro Lo has just shown that beating him without the gi is an even trickier task.

After a festival of sweeps, passes and mounts at lightweight, beating Kim Terra by 19 to 0 in the final, Leandro Lo tore into the absolute division this Saturday at the Brazilian No-Gi Nationals at Rio de Janeiro’s Tijuca Tennis Club.

First, he outpaced Rafael Costa, proving that his guard is indeed indecipherable. IN the semifinal he caught up with former training partner Filipe Meirelles, who let Leandro go through.

At the other end of the bracket, the only other weight group winner in the absolute showed just why he’d won the superheavyweight division. Mauro Celso of team Gracie Barra Belo Horizonte, first went past courageous light featherweight Leandro Luiz of CheckMat, before going on to beat Moisés Flores and then Manoel Fernandes.

The final started out with caution from both sides, with Leandro waiting for his opponent to attack and get caught in one of his traps, each more exciting than the last. So Mauro didn’t want to hear about being stuck between Lo’s legs, and leapt for a kneebar that brought the crowd to its feet. Although in pain, Leandro managed to unravel the submission hold after a few seconds.

Leandro then started racking up the points by sweeping and then passing guard and taking the back. Once it was all over: 12 to 2 for Brazil’s new absolute king of No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu.

Talita has a romp in the female division

Talita Treta didn’t encounter much resistance in the female division. The Ryan Gracie team black belt didn’t have any opponents in the heavyweight division, so she showed up fresh for the absolute. Her first match was an easy WO win. The final she won handily against the featherweight Elizângela Meireles, who also won her weight group without having to fight. Talita pressured her way past guard in style, finishing up with an armbar.

In the brown belt division, heavyweight champion Jackson Snatos steered clear of Paulo Miyao’s berimbolo in the semfinal, took down Rodrigo Aquiles in the final, and shed his fair share of joyful tears for winning two golds on the day.

In the purple belt absolute, the one of stunned everyone was Lucas Daniel “Hulk” of Marcio Rodrigues team, passing João Miyao’s guard in the final and winning by 3 to 0.

Atual campeão mundial dos leves, Leandro Lo mostrou que sem kimono a tarefa de vencê-lo é ainda mais complicada.

Após um festival de raspagens, passagens e montadas no peso leve, em que venceu Kim Terra na final (19 a 0), Leandro voltou cheio de gás no absoluto, neste sábado, no Brasileiro Sem Kimono no Tijuca Tênis Clube.

Primeiro, venceu em ritmo de treinos Rafael Costa, provando que sua guarda é de fato indecifrável. Na semifinal, o ex-companheiro de treinos Filipe Meirelles abriu para Leandrinho.

Do outro lado da chave, o outro único campeão no peso a entrar no absoluto foi mostrando por que vencera o superpesado. Mauro Celso, da academia Gracie Barra de Belo Horizonte, passou primeiro pelo corajoso peso-pluma Leandro Luiz (CheckMat), venceu Moisés Flores e depois Manoel Fernandes.

A final começou estudada, com Leandro esperando o oponente atacar para cair em suas armadilhas, uma mais eletrizante que a outra. Pois Mauro não quis saber de ficar entre as pernas do paulista, e voou numa chave de joelho que levantou a galera. Sem mudar as feições apesar da dor, Leandro defendeu-se com tranquilidade, e escapou após uns bons segundos.

Leandro então começou a pontuar, raspando e, já no finzinho, com uma passagem de guarda com pegada pelas costas. Fim de papo: 12 a 2 para o novo rei absoluto sem kimono do Brasil.

Talita passeia no feminino

No feminino, Talita Treta não precisou suar muito. A faixa-preta do time Ryan Gracie, sem oponentes no peso pesado, chegou fresca no absoluto. Na primeira luta, um W.O. Na final, venceu bonito a peso-pena Elizângela Meireles, que também venceu o peso sem lutas. Talita amassou e passou a guarda com estilo, pegando por fim no armlock.

No absoluto marrom, o campeão pesado Jackson Santos evitou o berimbolo de Paulo Miyao na semifinal, derrubou Rodrigo Aquiles na final e chorou muito ao conquistar o ouro duplo.

No aberto roxa, quem chocou a galera foi Lucas Daniel, o Hulk da Academia Marcio Rodrigues, que passou a guarda de João Miyao na final e venceu por 3 a 0.

This Saturday at Canto do Rio Club in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro state, the No-Gi Brazilian Nationals unfolded. Among the standouts of the competition, Gracie Barra duo Kleber Buiú and Frederico Zaganelli won their respective weight divisions and closed out the absolute.

In action at medium heavyweight, Buiú took on Roberto Gordo black belt Victor Bonfim. Victor started out well, but Buiú adjusted a foot attack and pulled off the finish. It’s the second year in a row that Buiú wins the event.

Now Espírito Santo native Frederico Zaganelli defeated Antonio José (Gracie Humaitá) in the super heavyweight decider. Zaganelli dominated the match and sunk an arm-and-neck choke to win on points. In the absolute, he celebrated team victory by shutting out the final with Kleber Buiú.

In the middleweight final, Murilo Santana (Barbosa JJ) attacked Sandro Vieira’s (CheckMat) foot for the gold. Leandro Lo (Cicero Costha) took on the game Theodoro Canal (GFTeam) in the lightweight final and added yet another title to his mantel. Meanwhile, Bruno Bastos (Nova União) again showed why he’s at the top of the heap, earning gold at ultra heavyweight.

Some of the others who made it to the top of the podium were Herbert Mitchell, younger brother to world champion Gilberto Durinho, winning at featherweight; Thiago Teixeira (Marcio Rodrigues) overcame Felipe Costa (Brasa) in the light featherweight final; Marcus Adriano (Gracie Barra) won at roosterweight; and Mauro Celso earned further points for GB by beating Nilson Ricardo (Nova União) in the heavyweight decider.

Aconteceram neste sábado, no clube Canto do Rio, em Niterói, as disputas do Brasileiro de Jiu-Jitsu Sem Kimono. Entre os destaques da competição, a dupla da Gracie Barra Kleber Buiú e Frederico Zaganelli venceu nas suas categorias de peso e fechou o absoluto.

Em ação entre os meio-pesados, Buiú encarou na final o faixa-preta de Roberto Gordo Victor Bonfim. Victor começou bem, mas Buiú ajustou o ataque no pé e conseguiu finalizar. Buiú venceu o evento pelo segundo ano seguido.

Já a fera do Espírito Santo Frederico Zaganelli venceu Antonio José (Gracie Humaitá) na decisão do superpesado. Dominou a luta e atacou o katagatame no triunfo por pontos. No absoluto, comemorou a dobradinha com o companheiro Kleber Buiú.

Na final do médio, Murilo Santana (Barbosa JJ) atacou o pé de Sandro Vieira (CheckMat) para garantir o ouro. Leandro Lo (Cícero Costha) teve na final do leve o duro Theodoro Canal (GFTeam) e conquistou mais um título. Enquanto isso, Bruno Bastos (Nova União) mais uma vez mostra que está nas cabeças com o ouro no pesadíssimo.

Outros que também subiram no alto do pódio foram Herbert Mitchell, irmão mais novo do campeão mundial Gilbert Durinho, campeão no peso pena; Thiago Teixeira (Marcio Rodrigues) bateu Felipe Costa (Brasa) na final do pluma; Marcus Adriano (Gracie Barra) venceu no galo; e Mauro Celso garantiu mais pontos para a GB ao bater Nilson Ricardo (Nova União) na decisão do pesado.
