Carlos Condit was victorious in his rematch with Martin Kampmann last night at UFC Fight Night 27, and it was the finish that truly cemented his revenger from his previous loss to to the Dutchman.

Mais uma vez o UFC foi apresentado de forma extraordinária numa quarta-feira, mas não deixou a desejar em nada se comparado aos eventos apresentados no sábado. Com lutas movimentadas e finalizações técnicas, o UFC: Condit vs Kampman agitou quem deixou de ver a rodada do futebol para acompanhar os craques do MMA.

O evento, realizado no dia 28, em Indianápolis,  teve na luta principal os preciso e contundentes golpes de Carlos Condit, que feriram e superaram um determinado Martin Kampmann, além da grande vitória de rafael dos Anjos sobre o favorito Donald Cerrone no coevento principal da noite.

No último combate da noite, Carlos Condit usou de seu favoritismo e nome construído no UFC para tentar limpar o revés sofrido para Martin Kampmann na revanche agendada para o evento. A luta começou com superioridade de Kampmann, que conseguiu anular o jogo de Condit levando-o para baixo consecutivas vezes, trabalhando golpes por cima. Já no segundo assalto, e com uma estratégia diferente, Condit evadiu melhor suas pernas, evitando o double leg, deixando o single, e correndo de costas para a grade evitando as quedas. Ao escapar, Carlos usou de sua melhor técnica em pé para golpear, esquivar das investidas de Kampmann e atacar no contragolpe.

Tendo dominado o segundo assalto, e tendo trabalhado da mesma forma no terceiro, tirando um momento de reviravoltas no solo, com tentativas de ambos atletas de finalizar, a quarta etapa foi a decisiva para a conclusão do embate. Com um Martin Kampmann muito atingido no rosto, Condit foi para cima e, antes mesmo de Kampmann ter tempo para respirar, Carlos combinou, segurou no clinch e aplicou três joelhadas, a última levando Martin a sentar no solo já fora de combate. O árbitro interrompeu a luta e Condit levou por nocaute técnico aos 54s do round.

Após a luta, quando perguntado sobre quem gostaria de enfrentar após, Condit não pensou baixo e pediu Johny Hendricks ou até mesmo uma revanche com o atual campeão Georges St. Pierre, que encara Hendricks pelo cintura no evento do dia 16 de novembro, no UFC 167.

No coevento principal, o único brasileiro no card apresentado em Indianápolis fez bonito. Número 10 do ranking de leves do UFC, Rafael dos Anjos encarou um duro Donald Cerrone, localizado na sexta posição do mesmo ranking.

No início do embate, os atletas se estudaram trocando fortes chutes. Socos também entraram na equação, mas a potência nas pernas de ambos chamava mais a atenção. Para desequilibrar na trocação, Rafael combinou com socos, fechando com um duríssimo cruzado de direita, que deixou Cerrone no knockdown. Mesmo com o sufoco, o americano se recuperou e manteve-se vivo no combate, sendo recebido no solo por Rafael que por cima, dentro da guarda, golpeou com socos e cotovelos para garantir o primeiro assalto.

Na segunda etapa, Rafael, que é faixa-preta de Roberto Gordo, mostrou que nem só da experiência no Jiu-Jitsu foi feita sua carreira no MMA, dando tanto trabalho para o trocador Cerrone em pé que o americano viu como opção de saída derrubar. No solo, lugar de conforto de Rafael dos Anjos, o brasileiro se fez valer da experiência, movimentando bem o quadril e evitando as investidas por cima de Cerrone. Após se levantar, Rafael ainda cinturou para derrubar e terminar a segunda etapa golpeando por cima.

O terceiro round foi dramático. Donald Cerrone foi para cima do brasileiro com tudo que tinha. Sem se intimidar, Rafael continuou soltando golpes, mas o Cowboy veio decidido a terminar com combate. Nos últimos instantes do combate, Rafael se evadiu o máximo que pode, para segurar a vitória por dois rounds de vantagem e se sagrar vencedor da luta.

Outros destaques ficaram para o triângulo de mão de Zak Cummings sobre Ben Alloway, para a estreia com nocaute de Brandon Thatch sobre Justin Edwards, e para a vitória de virada de Dylan Andrews sobre Papy Abedi. Confira os resultados abaixo:

Carlos Condit got his revenge from their first fight, finishing Martin Kampmann in the main event rematch at UFC Fight Night 27 in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Wednesday night.

Condit recovered from early takedowns by his opponent to get the technical knockout at the 0:54 mark of the fourth round of their featured bout.

“I’m excited, man. I’m really happy,” Condit said following the win. “Martin’s a really well-rounded fighter. He can take the fight wherever he wants. We saw that he was going to come out and try to take me down and make it a grappling match. We tried to avoid that and I ended up being able to pick him apart with the strikes.”

Kampmann almost immediately went in for a clinch, working his way to a takedown in the early stages of the first round. Condit briefly got back to the feet, but was put back down by his opponent soon after. Condit secured a reversal, gaining top position and returned to the feet where Kampman continued to utilize the clinch. After bringing the fight back down to the ground , Kampman worked from his opponent’s guard to advance, but found no success and they returned to a standing fight again. A fourth takedown by Kampmann took place just before the end of the opening round.

Kampmann began landing more strikes in the second round, combining that with more body clinches. Condit, however, was able to defend the takedown much better than the previous round, and later landed more significant blows to his opponent while on the feet. High and low striking combinations gave Condit the advantage in the second frame.

After some brief striking exchanges, Kampmann scored his first takedown since the first round, holding Condit down for nearly half a minute before the two returned to the feet. Condit then landed a strike that cut his opponent open on the face, and pressured Kampmann with a number of striking combinations. The fight nearly finished with Condit bringing it to the ground and attempting a rear-naked choke, but Kampann escaped and the round ended soon after.

Shortly after the fourth round began, Condit landed a one-two combination and swarmed on his opponent. He then clinched, landed two knees to the head, forcing Kampmann to fall to the canvas and referee Herb Dean to stop the fight.

Condit said his drive to title contention includes match-ups that he finds interesting, including ones against the two top welterweights in the division.

“There’s a lot of intriguing matches out there in the division,” he said. “Of course I would like to get that title shot back, possibly Johnny Hendricks or Georges St-Pierre, whichever one wins.”

With the win, Condit stops a two fight losing streak and improves his record to 29-7. Kampmann drops to 20-7 and has lost two consecutive fights.

Dos Anjos goes the distance, gets the win over Cerrone

Rafael dos Anjos continued his drive to becoming Brazil’s first UFC lightweight champion, beating Donald Cerrone in the co-main event at UFC Fight Night 27 on Saturday night.

Dos Anjos outlasted Cerrone for the duration of their three-round war, getting the unanimous decision with scores of 29-28 on all three judges’ scorecards.

The Brazilian fighter found success on the feet halfway through the first round, landing a hard punch that dropped Cerrone to the floor. The fight then went the ground where dos Anjos landed strikes from Cerrone’s guard, including short elbows and punches. The match stayed on the ground with dos Anjos finishing out the frame in top position.

Dos Anjos continued to land combinations on the feet in the second round before Cerrone secured a takedown. The American fighter attempted find a position to land strikes, but dos Anjos scrambled and the two returned to the feet a short while later. Dos Anjos got a takedown of his own in the final minute before the fight entered the final five-minute period.

The third round had Cerrone turn on the offense and land more significant strikes, while dos Anjos attempted two takedowns with no success. The fight ended with Cerrone attempting a flying knee as expired.

Dos Anjos improves his overall MMA record to 20-6 and is on a five-fight win streak. In defeat, Cerrone drops his second fight in his last three outings.

Gastelum submits Melancon early

Kelvin Gastelum remained undefeated, finishing Brian Melancon in the first round at in their main card fight at UFC Fight Night 27.

The TUF winner slapped on a rear-naked choke, forcing Melancon to tap at the 2:26 mark of the opening round.

“It feels good, baby,” Gastelum said. “I just wanted to get the finish.”

Gastelum landed a one-two combination, followed by another one-two combination with an uppercut that dropped Melancon. The “Ultimate Fighter” winner than pursued his opponent on the ground and sank in the rear-naked choke for the tapout.

Gastulem keeps his record flawless with his seventh straight win, while Melancon drops to 7-3.

McGee gets the split decision over Whittaker

Court McGee won a close fight with Rober Whittaker in their UFC Fight Night 27 main card fight on Wednesday.

McGee recovered from being bloodied in the first round to earn the split decision, earning scores of 30-27,-27-30 and 29-28.

With the win, McGee improves his record to 16-3 and is on a two-fight win streak. Whittaker loses his first fight in the UFC and drops to 11-3.

Único representante brasileiro na próxima edição do UFC, Rafael dos Anjos retorna ao octógono no dia 28, na cidade de Indianápolis, nos Estados Unidos, para o UFC Fight Night 27: Carlos Condit x Martin Kampmann. Dos Anjos (19v, 6d) enfrenta Donald Cerrone (20v, 5d) no coevento da noite.

Embalado com quatro vitórias seguidas, o faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu investiu pesado no wrestling e treinou com campeões mundiais para buscar mais uma vitória:

“Está tudo a mil, o treinamento até agora está perfeito, sem lesões e contra tempos. Só estou esperando a hora para colocar tudo em prática. Afiei meu jogo de quedas com o Jacob Harman e com outras feras do Jiu-Jitsu, como Romulo Barral, Otavio Sousa e meu amigo Philipe Della Monica. Eles estão se preparando para o ADCC e o time está muito forte. A parte em pé eu treinei com o Rafael Cordeiro e o Gordo está chegando para os últimos ajustes”, disse em papo com GRACIEMAG.

Rafael espera surpreender Cerrone para alcançar um objetivo, que parece não estar muito distante:

“Minha estratégia já foi montada, eu vou surpreendê-lo. Ele é um cara duro, tem um bom volume de jogo em pé e no chão. Vai ser uma guerra. Vamos ver qual blindagem que vai furar primeiro. Estou com 80kg, já é o peso ideal para mim. Não gosto de treinar fraco, está tudo dentro dos planos. Estou ansioso para este combate, quero provar que tenho qualidades para uma disputa de título”, afirma o carioca de 28 anos.

Questionado sobre sua última luta no Ultimate contra Evan Dunham, Rafael disse que lutou machucado:

“Muitos não sabem, mas quando faltavam quatro semanas para luta eu machuquei minha costela, fiquei duas semanas sem treinar. Fiquei só na bicicleta de leve e quase saí da luta. Porém, consegui lutar e venci isso é o que importa”, comenta.
