A little setback marked the second fight of WOCS 25, held on April 12, in the gymnasium of AABB, in Rio. The fight between Carlos Alberto Lobo and Marcos Nenê was stopped between the second and third round because of an accident with the sticker pasted in the cage of the event. With that, the fight was declared “no contest” but shortly thereafter, representatives of the athletic commission set Lobo’s victory. Confused? GRACIEMAG explains:

The battle was going on normally in the first two rounds, with a clear advantage of Carlos Lobo over Nene. Lobo, with a bit different standing posture, good takedowns and ground domain, led the combat to a victory by points. During the break, the organizers noted that one of the advertisements pasted on top of the cage was loosening. In order to repair the sticker, a member of staff applied plastic superglue on it but, unfortunately, a drop of superglue fell in the eye of Carlos Lobo, who was sitting just below the sticker, receiving instructions from the corner.

Once the superglue fell in his eye, the athlete, thinking it was vaseline, rubbed his hand to remove it, and it glued his eyelids, preventing the athlete to open his right eye. The doctors entered the cage, and tried everything to repair the accident, trying even to cut part of Lobo’s eyelashes. Without any success, the fight was stopped, and then came the controversy.

With the end of the fight, the result was announced as “no contest”, due to medical interruption.
But soon after, the corner of Lobo objected saying that he had been superior during most of the fight. To order differences of opinion, Osiris Maia, coordinator of arbitration of Brazilian Confederation of MMA, declared that two rounds had already been presented to the referees claiming that the victory of the battle was decided with Lobo as the winner of the fight.

Um pequeno acidente de percurso marcou a segunda luta do WOCS 25, realizado no dia 12 de abril, no ginásio da AABB, no Rio. O embate entre Carlos Alberto Lobo e Marcos Nenê foi interrompido entre o segundo e  o terceiro assalto por conta de um acidente com o adesivo colado no cage do evento. Com isso, a luta foi declarada como no constest mas, logo em seguida, representantes da comissão atlética definiram vitória de Lobo. Confuso? GracieMag explica.

A batalha seguia normalmente nos primeiros dois assaltos, com vantagem clara de Carlos Lobo sobre Nenê. Lobo, com uma postura em pé um pouco diferente, boas quedas e domínio no solo, conduzia o embate para uma vitória por pontos. No intervalo, os organizadores notaram que  uma das publicidades coladas na parte superior do cage estava se soltando. No intuito de reparar o adesivo, um membro do staff aplicou uma supercola no plástico publicitário mas, infelizmente, uma gota da supercola caiu no olho de Carlos Lobo, que estava sentado logo abaixo do adesivo recebendo instruções do córner.

Assim que a supercola caiu em seu olho, o atleta, imaginando que fosse vaselina, passou a mão para retirar o excesso, e com isso colou as pálpebras, impossibilitando o atleta de abrir seu olho direito. Os médicos adentraram o cage, e tentaram de tudo para reparar o acidente, chegando até a tentar cortar parte dos cílios de Lobo. Sem sucesso, a luta foi interrompida, e aí veio a polêmica.

Com o fim da luta, o resultado foi anunciado como no contest, por interrupção médica. Mas, logo após, o córner de Lobo contestou dizendo que a maior parte da luta havia sido de superioridade de Lobo. Para dar fim as divergências de opinião, Osíris Maia, coordenador de arbitragem da Confederação brasileira de MMA, pediu a palavra e, alegando que dois assaltos já tinham sido apresentados aos jurados, pediu que a vitória do embate fosse decidido nas papeletas, sacramentando que Lobo seria o vencedor da luta.

Entre polêmicas, acidentes e controvérsias, a vitória de Carlos Alberto Lobo no WOCS 25 teve um protagonista inusitado. E, sobre o atleta vencedor, a cola foi removida de seu olho horas depois e o mesmo passa bem.
