Here is the highlight reel of the US National Pro Long Beach, that went down this January 24.

Big names like Keenan Cornelius, Magid Hage, Carlos Farias and more competed for the travel packages for the 2016 WPJJC.

The final registration deadline is Feb. 8.

Na final do aberto, Yuri mediu forças com o sempre perigoso Magid Hage, da Gracie Barra. Sem deixar o adversário fazer seu jogo, Yuri derrubou, passou, montou e estrangulou Magid, quase ao estilo Roger Gracie.

Once again the Kezar Pavillion by the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood was the stage for the San Francisco Open.

Over 500 athletes filled the venue for a whole day of thrilling competition.

Caio Terra’s Yuri Simões stood out in the crowd with a top level performance.

After getting the gold medal without having to compete in the super-heavy division, Yuri was hungry for action in the adult black belt open class.

He had three matches and all of them ended with the opponent tapping.

The first victim was Arnaldo Oliveira, caught with an armlock.

The second victim was Tanner Rice, who himself had a great performance against Rodrigo Freitas on the first round of the absolute.

In less than two minutes, Yuri got a takedown, passed Tanner’s guard, got the mount and finished with another armlock.

On the other side of the bracket, Darragh O’Connall beat Kim Terra, but them lost to Gianni Grippo.

Magid HageIV first beat Eliot Kelly with a sneaky armbar to get to the semifinal too.

Grippo and Magid battled a war of sweeps in the 50/50 to tie 4-4, leaving for the three referees to decide on the second finalist.

Two of them went for Magid.

The final was also a fast match, despite Hage being able to resist more than others.

He even had a nice omoplata in place for a second, but Yuri was able to defuse it and went about his business as usual.

He passed guard, mounted and choked Roger Gracie style.

In the weight divisions, results were:

Caio Terra got gold in the light-feather (no matches).

Kim Terra and Vitor Paschoal closed out the featherweight with Kim claiming the gold medal.

Gianni Grippo outscored Rodrigo Freitas 6-4 to win the lightweight.

Magid Hage IV used his trademark baseball choke to beat Josh Hinger in the middleweight.

Tanner Rice caught Ken Primola with an armbar to win the medium-heavy division.

Diego Herzog beat Eliot Kelly 4-0 for the heavyweight gold medal.

in the female division, only two competitors signed in – Charlene Coats and Amanda Loewen.

As in the middleweight division, Coats got the win with a 4-2 score.

In the teams competition, Ralph Gracie finished first with 214pts, followed by Caio Terra  with 193pts and Yemaso BJJ with 133pts.

The US National Pro hit Santa Barbara on Jan. 11 and handed out fully-paid travel packages to compete at the 2015 Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship to those who won their respective divisions.

The event gathered names like Magid Hage, Clark Gracie, Mackenzie Dern, Wellington Megaton Dias, Eliott Kelly and more.

The US National Pro was held on Sunday, Jan. 11 at Santa Barbara City College on the coast of California. The one-day event held a tournament matches for kids, adults and masters from white to black but most importantly offered some victorious athletes a travel package to compete at the 2015 Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship in April.

For the black belts, there were only two weight categories that held matches. The -85kg division was the most stacked with six competitors.

To start off, Clark Gracie of Clark Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy faced Tanner Rice of Rice Bros BJJ. Clark pulled and Tanner was able to sweep but Clark swept closer to the end of the six-minute match, also attempting a knee bar. Clark moved on with a referee decision.

Matthew Magana of Paragon went up against Eric Harvey Johnson of Cia Paulista. Matt earned a takedown in the beginning of the match and maintained top pressure until he got a pass. Eric recovered guard but was not able to secure the points to take the lead and Matt moved on in the division with a 5-0 point win.

Dang Khoa Tat of Checkmat Canada had a bye and entered the division against Clark Gracie. The match was largely controlled by Clark who used a kimura grip on Dang’s arm in a crucifix position. What ended the match was what Clark called an inverted omoplata, a move he’s been developing. The win moved Clark to the final.

Magid Hage IV had a bye and stepped in to face Matthew Magana. Magid pulled and while Matt attempted to pass from the knee slice position, Magid secured a triangle and submitted Matt with a straight armbar from there.

The final was a sweep battle between Clark and Magid. Clark led with the first sweep when Magid secured an underhook to pass. Magid swept back making the score even once more. Both reversed the other from what seemed like disadvantageous positions from half guard or other locked down positions making it a clinic of sorts. Clark was able to secure the last sweep, his base and the lead for a 8-6 win and the travel package.

In the +95kg division, the only two out of three who showed were Eliot Kelly of Yemaso BJJ and Arthur Rivas of Paragon. Both men stood for most of the match but Eliot was able to drag Arthur down to the mat and secure him for two points. He remained on top as Arthur turtled. Eliot nearly mounted at the end of the match and earned the gold and travel package by a 2-0 point, 4-0 advantage lead over Arthur.

Wellington Megaton Dias made a great run within the brown/black belt master division and also earned a ticket. After coming up short in the weight division against new black belt Ram Ananda losing 3-0, he was able to edge Ram out with a tomenagi in the final of the open weight division and secure the travel package.

Daughter of Megaton, Mackenzie Dern only had one match in her brown/black belt division where she faced brown belt Nicole Inacio of Gracie Barra. Both pulled guard and Nicole came up. Not long after Mackenzie swept from sit-up guard and worked a folder pass, pushing Nicole’s knees to one side but switching to a knee slice and stabilizing side control. Nicole turtled, Mackenzie sunk her hooks and as Nicole worked to come out the back, Mackenzie snatched the arm for the submission.

The open weight for the adult male black belt offered $1000 cash for the winner. Here is how it panned out:

Clark Gracie submitted Arthur Rivas with a choke from the back after an omoplata attempt.
Magid Hage submitted Matthew Magana with his infamous baseball bat choke.
Clark outscored Eliot Kelly by 2-0 points with a sweep.
In the final, Magid caught Clark in a crucifix and finished the match with a lapel choke.
Eliot outscored Matthew by 6-0 by takedown and mount to earn the bronze medal.

No fim de semana, a cidade de Santa Bárbara, na Califórnia, voltou a receber a elite do Jiu-Jitsu. O US National Pro premiou os campeões de várias categorias com um pacote de viagem para o WPJJC 2015 em Abu Dhabi, capital dos Emirados Árabes.

O destaque da competição foi o faixa-preta Magid Hage, que dominou o absoluto e faturou mil dólares. O atleta da Gracie Barra usou o estrangulamento do crucifixo para finalizar Clark Gracie na final do aberto.

Clark, antes, havia vencido Magid Hage na final até 85kg por 8 a 6 no placar. Com a vitória, Clark garantiu a medalha de ouro e a viagem para a Abu Dhabi.

Na disputa do absoluto feminino faixa-marrom/preta, a rainha foi Mackenzie Dern. A faixa-preta da Gracie Humaitá finalizou Nicole Inácio no armlock e garantiu o pacote de viagem. Foi a única luta do aberto.

Wellington Megaton Dias, pai de Mackenzie, arrancou aplausos do público presente ao mostrar uma técnica refinada para vencer o absoluto master. O guerreiro da Gracie Humaitá também vai viajar com tudo pago para lutar o WPJJC nos Emirados.

Na faixa-marrom, Nisar Loynab garantiu o pacote de viagem ao vencer o absoluto. Já no absoluto faixa-roxa, o habilidoso Rolando Samson (Atos) foi o campeão. O último pacote de viagem foi para James Goh (Alliance), ouro absoluto na faixa-azul.

Último campeonato do calendário da IBJJF, o Long Beach BJJ Pro está com seu plantel de atletas formado. O torneio profissional de Jiu-Jitsu será no próximo domingo, 14 de dezembro, na Califórnia.

Além das belas medalhas, a organização vai dar uma premiação em dinheiro de mais de 30 mil dólares.

A tropa dos faixas-pretas confirmados terá Osvaldo Queixinho e Samir Chantre (Brasa CTA) no peso-pena; Marcelo Mafra (Checkmat), Vitor Oliveira (GFTeam), Magid Hage (GB) e Nathan Mendelsohn (Coalition 95) na divisão dos médios; Lucas Rocha (GB), Eliot Kelly (Yemaso) e Gabriel Vieira (GFTeam) no pesado.

O pesadíssimo conta com Yuri Simões (CTA), James Puopolo (Lovato), Carlos Farias (Roberto Traven) e Gustavo Pires (GB).

Ana Laura Cordeiro (GB) e Mackenzie Dern (Gracie Humaitá) são as estrelas confirmadas no feminino.

Na faixa-marrom, a nova geração vem com Isaac Doederlein (Alliance), Yago Espíndola (Gracie Humaitá), Lucas “Hulk” Daniel (Marcio Rodrigues) e Jonathan Van Buren (Nova União).
