Por lá, Carcará ainda participou de uma reunião ilustre. Com Kron Gracie e os irmãos Mendes, debateu detalhes de posições como a montada aplicada por Roger Gracie e a guarda 50/50, especialidade dos Mendes.

Another who saw action, after teaching seminars at Grips BJJ academy in Hong Kong, was Brálio Estima. The Gracie Barra black belt and student of Zé Radiola got the finish in all his matches.

While there, Carcará also was part of an illustrious meeting. Kron Gracie and the brothers Mendes debated positional details like Roger Gracie’s mount and the 50/50 guard, the Mendes’ specialty.

Como o GRACIEMAG.com vinha noticiando, os irmãos Rafael e Guilherme Mendes foram com tudo para o Japão, onde aconteceu, neste sábado, a Rickson Cup. A dupla comenta como foi tudo em Kawasaki.

“Acabamos de voltar do campeonato, foi excelente! A organização estava nota dez e graças a Deus deu tudo certo, tudo foi como planejamos!”, conta Rafael, completado por Guilherme:

“Rafael abriu 12 a 0 e finalizou nas costas na primeira luta contra um japonês, eu abriu 8 a 0 e finalizei com um estrangulamento da passagem de guarda na primeira luta, também contra um lutador local. Na semifinal, o Rafael finalizou com outro estrangulamento pelas costas, com uma posição que a gente vem treinando muito na academia, e eu venci o Shane Rice por 8 a 2. Raspei, passei a guarda e peguei as costas, mas ele conseguiu se defender bem e escapou.”

Não foi moleza a viagem ao Japão. Mas, na terra do sol nascente, tudo valeu a pena. Além da superação nas disputas, Rafa e Guilherme, como indicam as fotos, são tratados como verdadeiras celebridades pelos amantes do bom Jiu-Jitsu.

“Estamos muito contentes, porque chegamos na noite passada, mal conseguimos dormir e ainda fizemos ótimas lutas. Sempre lutamos na tentativa de inovar, na busca de novas posições e tentando criar movimentos para surpreender. Deu certo mais uma vez!”, fala Guilherme.

“Ficamos muito felizes com esta vitória, principalmente pela honra por lutar no Japão. O carinho e respeito que o povo japonês tem com os lutadores nos faz querer voltar sempre. Assim que chegarmos no Brasil, começaremos nosso treinamento focado no Europeu. O Guto Campos já chegou em Rio Claro para isso. Enfim, não poderíamos deixar de agradecer também à galera da academia, que nos ajuda muito. Acreditamos que as vitorias não são apenas pelo nosso trabalho, mas pelo deles também. Obrigado Durinho, Frazatto, Calasans, Ronaldinho, Ed, Denison, Lazaro, Ferrugem, Walker e Thiago Mendes, nosso preparador físico. Mal podemos esperar para treinarmos todos juntos!”, encerra Rafael.

As previously reported by GRACIEMAG.com, brothers Rafael and Guilherme Mendes took off for Japan, where the Rickson Cup took place this Saturday. The duo comments on how things went in Kawasaki:

“We just got back from the championship, it was great! The organization was first rate and thank God everything went well, according to plan!” recounts Rafael, with Guilherme filling in:

“Rafael scored 12 to 0 before finishing from back mount in his first match; I scored 8 to 0 before finishing with a choke from a guard pass in my first match, also against a local fighter. In the semifinal, Rafael got another choke from back mount, from a positions we’ve been practicing a lot in the academy, and I beat Shane Rice by 8 to 2. I passed guard and took his back, but he defended well and escaped.”

The trip to Japan was no easy one, but it was all worthwhile. Besides overcoming their respective opponents, Rafael and Guilherme, as is apparent in the photos, are treated like true celebrities by Jiu-Jitsu lovers in the Land of the Rising Sun.

“We’re really pleased because we got in last night, we could hardly sleep and we still had excellent matches. We always compete looking to innovate, to come up with new positions, and try to create moves that will surprise people. It worked out yet again!” says Guilherme.

“We were really happy with this win, especially for the honor of fighting in Japan. The affection and respect the people of Japan have for fighters always makes us want to come back. As soon as we get back to Brazil we’ll start training for the European Open. Guto Campos is already in Rio Claro for that. Finally, we can’t leave out our thanks for the guys at the gym who help us so much. We believe our wins don’t just come down to the work we do, but their work too. Thanks Durinho, Frazatto, Calasans, Ronaldinho, Ed, Denison, Lazaro, Ferrugem, Walker, and Thiago Mendes, our physical conditioning coach. We can hardly wait to get back and train all together again!” says Rafael in finishing.

Kron Gracie is yet another black belt confirmed for the Rickson Gracie Cup this November in Japan, announces our collaborator Fernando Ferreira.

Kron will compete at his father’s event, in the city of Kawasaki. He won gold at weight and open weight at the 2008 installment.

Besides the middleweight, Bráulio Estima, Rafael Mendes and his brother Guilherme have also expressed intent to compete at the November 20 tourney.

Kron Gracie é mais um faixa-preta confirmado na Rickson Gracie Cup, em novembro no Japão, informa nosso colaborador Fernando Ferreira.

Kron vai lutar no evento do pai, na cidade de Kawasaki, depois de ter vencido o torneio em 2008, faturando o ouro no peso e no absoluto.

Além do peso médio, Bráulio Estima, Rafael Mendes e o irmão Guilherme também manifestaram a intenção de lutar na copa do dia 20 de novembro.
