Após um túnel do tempo de sucesso realizado no nosso Instagram, o @graciemagoficial, trazemos para você, atleta aficionado por novas armas no Jiu-Jitsu, um contra ataque valioso ensinado pelo craque Yuri Simões.

Bicampeão do ADCC e campeão mundial sem kimono, Yuri tem também no seu jogo de pano algumas armas que podem surpreender o adversário. Em sessão de vídeos realizada nos estúdios da GRACIEMAG, em meados de 2014, Yuri mostrou como raspar o adversário que passa a guarda toureando com duas opções. No auxílio da demonstração, o também faixa-preta e atleta do UFC Antônio Cara de Sapato.

Na primeira, Yuri empurra o adversário para torcer o braço e girar, caindo por cima. Na segunda, com uma fuga de quadril seguida com um envolver de pernas, Yuri gira o oponente para sair no armlock.

A huge part of new practitioners that join everyday at academies all over the globe, do it after hitting the 30-year-old mark.

GRACIEMAG decided to go after our readers that started after the big 3.0 and asked them why they decided to start their BJJ journey at that point in life.

Celebrities training Jiu-Jitsu is always cool to see but learning about their promotions is even more cool. Chef Anthony Bourdain, who was encouraged to train by his blue belt wife Ottavia, has officially earned his first stripe in the gentle art.

Training under Igor Gracie at the GMA Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City, Bourdain has picked up a few tricks along the way to his promotion. Wife Ottavia is an active competitor and Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast who has brought on more than just her husband to the mats.

Rafael Mendes is preparing for the 2013 ADCC with Andre Galvao and team at the San Diego Atos headquarters. He is set to compete in the -66 kg division with fellow featherweights like Rubens Cobrinha Charles, Justin Rader, Augusto Tanquinho Mendes along with newer sensations such as Joao Miyao and brown belt Marcio Andre.

Ultimately, the experts at the berimbolo will find a secure way to successfully translate the move to no-gi. Sans grips, the back-taking sensation works exceptionally well however fellow Atos member Michael Liera Jr. has found the kryptonite.

The first black belt under American world champion Rafael Lovato Jr. has decidedly moved into MMA leaving Jiu-Jitsu competition on the wayside. We announced that Justin Rader will be entering the world of MMA when he was invited to ADCC. Justin Rader is a brown belt No-Gi World Champion twice and has came second in the black belt division in the event after finals with Rubens ‘Cobrinha’ Charles.

Because there are many members of the Lovato team heading to Beijing in October for the 2013 ADCC event, the training is concentrated and able to prepare together from the headquarters at GMA Lovato’s School of BJJ & MMA in Oklahoma or affiliate locations. But Justin works on his own for the multi-faceted training of mixed martial arts.

You won’t find Justin Rader speaking about his training as his Facebook and Instagram are solely dedicated to documenting the classes he teaches and the students he mentors rather than the sessions he trains with and the partners that help him prepare.

Here we can see how his stand-up is coming along in a quick video of Justin working with Rafael’s father. His first MMA fight is being scheduled and may happen as soon as this month!

No longer seen as simply the wife of legendary black belt Mario Reis, Monique Elias has made her own legendary path. Today, Monique was promoted to brown belt on the podium of the IBJJF Rio Open after winning double gold at purple belt middleweight and the absolute.

Monique became a world champion in 2012 after winning the blue belt lightweight division and absolute. This year she won double gold at purple belt winning her two more world titles. It was only a matter of time before she gained the darker belt.

We look forward to seeing how Monique will do at her new belt!

This Tuesday, Wanderlei Silva celebrates his 37th birthday. The Brazilian, whose career spans almost 17 years, is known for his youthful, playful spirit.

Last Friday, the UFC athlete didn’t miss the opportunity and made another one of his jokes to fans on his Instagram page:

“July 3 I’m turning 37!!! Young guns better hurry to catch up, ’cause daddy’s kicking ass and taking names. My wife even nicknamed me Neymar… so I asked, ‘Why, honey, is it the hair?’ She answered, ‘No, baby, it’s because you can still wow the crowd.’”

Wanderlei’s next octagon appointment is not yet scheduled, but he’s coming off a knockout win over Brian Stann last March in Japan. There’s no denying the mad dog can still wow an MMA crowd.
