Atos’ brown belt was able to enforce his submission-oriented game onto Ricardo Almeida’s newer brown belt but not without a fight.

See the match below:

Tomorrow, Saturday July 20 Keenan Cornelius will be participating in a superfight against GMA member Ricardo Almeida’s brown belt star Max Bohanan at the Grappler’s Quest Championship in Morristown, New Jersey.

By this point, Keenan needs no introduction and with the exception of Paulo Miyao in the brown belt open weight final at the 2013 Worlds this past June, Keenan has been undefeated at the brown belt level.

In Christian households, children grow up hearing bible stories, like the one about that scrawny little guy who slayed a giant by hitting him square on the head with a rock, thus saving his kingdom.

Once the kids who grow up hearing those tales start practicing the gentle art, it’s not long before they realize, David only used a rock because he didn’t know Jiu-Jitsu.

When sporting a gi in the academy, we all realize how on the ground the art revamped and popularized by the Gracie clan evens the playing field and allows our many Davids to subdue the Goliaths every day in class, training or at championships.

To drive home just how much that is the case, today GRACIEMAG.com features five battles between half-pint pipsqueaks and their oversized opposition. Show your friends and family so they’ll all have an idea of what Jiu-Jitsu’s all about.

5. Guto Campos vs. Rodrigo Cavaca – European Open 2010

From November 1 to 15 Cavalcanti led seminars in Luxembourg, Belgium, France and Germany.

At the first belt test for his association branch in Luxembourg he promoted ten students, pictured above.

He also led five students at the November 10 NAGA Europe tournament in Paris, taking home three medals. Standout student Mike Resch placed second in the masters blue belt featherweight Gi division as well as third in the masters intermediate featherweight No-Gi division.

The aim behind his European tour was to further the long-term advancement of his sport. “I spent 15 days in Europe spreading Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It was good to see the evolution of our sport in Europe,” he remarked.

With no break from his role as Jiu-Jitsu mentor, he was immediately back on the mats in his hometown of Las Vegas, where he aided his students in becoming the top team at Grappler’s Quest in Las Vegas, being handed the trophy from Grappler’s Quest director Brian Cimmins for the third year in a row.

Congrats to Ricardo Cavalcanti and his Carlson Gracie Team students for their recent accomplishments, and thank you for your efforts to help spread the sport we love so much!

Rafael Lovato Jr. is one of the stars adorning the roster for Metamoris Pro, a one-off event featuring seven supermatches under innovative rules – no points or advantage points, and a match duration that at 20 minutes is twice the usual. The Jiu-Jitsu professor from Oklahoma State will be taking on Kayron Gracie in a “passer-vs.-guard player” showdown that has Jiu-Jitsu fans rubbing their hands with glee.

As part of his preparations for the October 14 competition in San Diego, California, Lovato took to the mats to compete at the September 16 Grapplers Quest event in Houston, Texas, and finished four opponents on his way to winning the absolute division.

Check out the American black belt’s performance facing Carlos Diego in the final. Note how calmly Lovato passes guard, mounts and finishes.
