The first day of the 2011 European Open took place in front of a full house at the Casal Vistoso sports complex in Lisbon.

A true legion of white and blue belts packed the competition areas.

GRACIEMAG’s lenses were keen to all that went on on and off the mats.

The GRACIEMAG stand and GRACIEMAG at the European Open Blog have set up shop in the Casal Vistoso Gymnasium, in Lisbon.

The white and blue belts have been hard at it on the eight competition areas since 9 am this Thursday.

European Open 2011 brackets set

The IBJJF has released the brackets for the 2011 European Open.

From white to black belt, one can already get of glimpse of the path to the gold.

At black belt, there’s no surprise in the favorites at opposite ends of the bracket only facing off in the semifinals and finals.

New names may crop up in the final list, but the big stars are all there, a guarantee of great disputes at the 2011 Euro Open.

The European Open is the youngest of the four events making up Jiu-Jitsu’s Grand Slam. In 2011 it makes it to its eighth event, while the Pan, Worlds, and Brazilian Nationals make it to their sixteenth.

Even so, ever since 2004 the European Open has been the stage for a great deal of excitement and electrifying conquests.
