Como era de se esperar, White abriu o verbo pós o UFC 157, que teve na luta principal o histórico primeiro embate entre mulheres da organização, no qual Ronda Rousey finalizou Liz Carmouche, somando mais um braço à sua coleção.

Dentre os assuntos, o presidente falou sobre Cris Cyborg, a polêmica entre José Aldo e Anthony Pettis, Nick Diaz , Gina Carano e os atletas chegados do Strikeforce. Confira as cinco melhores tiradas do manda-chuva do Ultimate, na coletiva na Califa, registradas por Erik Fontanez.

1. Cris Cyborg e o Twitter

“Não tenho nada a dizer para (Cris) Cyborg. A coisa está acontecendo aqui, e ela não faz parte disso. Ela teve a oportunidade de assinar com o UFC e não quis. Ela tem apenas três mil seguidores no twitter, ninguém sabe quem é ela”.

2. Aldo vs Pettis pelo cinturão?

“Aldo não quer lutar com Pettis. Ele acha que Pettis não merece lutar pelo título dos penas. Bem, Aldo vai lutar com Pettis, ou ele não vai gostar do que vai acontecer”.

3. A musa Gina Carano está de volta?

“Se Gina quiser voltar, nós a aceitaremos, apenas não vamos procurar ela. Ela tem seus negócios e eu fico feliz por isso. Eu gosto dela como estrela de cinema, mas se ela quiser lutar, não vou dizer não…”.

On his stop through Rio de Janeiro, UFC president Dana White again stated that he’s all the closer to working with female MMA. “I used to be against it, but I’m starting to warm to the idea,” said the MMA kingpin.

The reason for his change of heart is the performances of the submission-savvy Ronda Rousey.

“For sure I’d have Rousey in the UFC. I think she’s incredible. She’s a true fighter, and I love watching her fights. I think we could have some fun fights with Ronda and other women as well but I need there to be more athletes. It’s still early to start a female division,” said the UFC president.

By the way, Beijing-2008 bronze medalist Rousey doesn’t let up when it comes to challenging Cris Cyborg, who is still in the process of fulfilling her suspension for banned substances.

Em sua passagem pelo Rio de Janeiro, Dana White, o manda-chuva do Ultimate, reafirmou que está cada vez mais perto de trabalhar com o MMA feminino. “Antes eu era contra, mas estou começando a gostar da ideia”, disse o presidente.

O motivo são as belas atuações da finalizadora Ronda Rousey.

“Eu, com certeza, traria Rousey para o UFC. Eu a acho incrível. Ela é uma lutadora de verdade e gosto de assistir às suas lutas. Acho que podemos fazer algumas lutas divertidas com Ronda e com outras mulheres também, mas é preciso que apareçam mais atletas, ainda está cedo para uma categoria feminina”, disse o presidente do UFC.

Por sinal, a judoca medalha de bronze em Pequim-2008 não para de desafiar Cris Cyborg, que ainda cumpre suspensão por doping.
