For its maiden installment, the Jiu-Jitsu Pro Gear Open already gains the status of a major tournament. An estimated 500 competitors signed up to compete October 24 in San Clements, California. And athletes from some of the best academies in Southern California are confirmed to be there. Rodrigo Medeiros, Saulo Ribeiro, Rigan Machado, Gracie Barra, Cleber Luciano, Caique Jiu-Jitsu, Paragon, and Guillobel San Clemente are just a few of the teams to hit the mats in San Clemente High School.

Event sponsor and our GMA Gilberto Faria, owner of Jiu-Jitsu Pro Gear, in partnership with Paulo Guillobel, decided to put together a tournament with prizes. The winner of each division, besides taking home a medal, takes a prize kit worth US$ 150.

“There will be some surprising supermatches, including one that already has a lot of buzz about it: Nino Schembri vs. Bill Cooper,” says Guillobel.

Sign-ups are open until October 20 at the normal rate and until October 22 with a late fee, and can be performed on the www.jiujitsuprogearopen.com website.

Em sua primeira edição, o Jiu-Jitsu Pro Gear Open já ganhou status de grande torneio. A estimativa é de que mais de 500 competidores estejam inscritos para lutar no dia 24 de outubro, em San Clemente. Estão confirmados, por exemplo, atletas das melhores academias do sul da Califórnia. Rodrigo Medeiros, Saulo Ribeiro, Rigan Machado, Gracie Barra, Cleber Luciano, Caique Jiu-Jitsu, Paragon e Guillobel San Clemente são apenas alguns dos times que estarão em ação na San Clemente High School.

Patrocinador do evento, nosso GMA Gilberto Faria, proprietário do Jiu-Jitsu Pro Gear, em parceria com Paulo Guillobel, decidiu criar um torneio com premiações. O vencedor de cada divisão, além da medalha, leva um kit de prêmis num valor de US$150. 

“Haverá algumas surpreendentes superlutas, incluindo a que muita gente vem comentando: Nino Schembri x Bill Cooper”, comenta Gilberto.
“Queria muito ver essa luta. Nino Schembri está preparando a sua volta. Só isso já é um grande motivo para assistir ao evento”, diz Paulo Guillobel. .

As inscrições podem ser feitas até 20 de outubro mo preço normal e até 22 de outubro com taxa de atraso no www.jiujitsuprogearopen.com. 

No dia 2 de outubro, às 13h PST (horário da costa oeste nos Estados Unidos), o duas vezes campeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu e atual número 1 entre os pesos pesados do ADCC Fabrício Werdum participa de um projeto pioneiro. O lutador do Strikeforce e nosso GMA, que vem de vitória sobre ninguém menos que Fedor Emelianenko, ministra o primeiro seminário online de Jiu-Jitsu e MMA. A transmissão acontece ao vivo através www.onlinefightchannel.com, idealizado pelo GMA Gilberto Faria e pelo faixa-preta Felipe Moreno. É uma oportunidade única para os fãs de todo o mundo serem instruídos por um dos maiores lutadores da atualidade.  O site acaba de entrar definitivamente no ar.

Our GMA Gilberto Faria and black belt Paulo Guillobel are putting together an event with some exciting matches, Jiu-Jitsu Progear Open 2010, on October 24 in San Clemente, California.

“We’re putting together some superfights for the event. We’ve already made one between Nino Schembri and Bill Cooper. They’re going to compete in the gi in the under 83 kg (183 lbs) division,” Gilberto told GRACIEMAG.com.
