Depois de um primeiro dia dedicado aos miúdos, na quarta-feira, o segundo dia do WPJJC 2013 foi especial para os faixas-azuis, além dos brancas e dos masters.

No feminino adulto azul, a carioca Ana Carolina Vieira (GFTeam) chamou bastante atenção. A irmã do astro Rodolfo Vieira venceu a categoria até 66kg, ao bater Stine Hegre (Frontiline) na final.

Na azul masculino, categoria até 88kg, o garotão de Bangu Isaque Bahiense (Nova União) superou a lesão no braço e conquistou a medalha de ouro, após vencer Frank Martin (Gracie Barra). Outro que roubou os olhares foi Nicholas Meregali (Alliance), que passou por Walter Ruben (Matilha BJJ) para vencer na azul até 82kg.

GRACIEMAG: Dia 20 foi memorável para o povo da GB e da Alliance, graças ao seu seminário em São Paulo a o discurso antológico de Fabio Gurgel, em que o General lembrou que as duas escolas não são inimigas, e sim irmãs, já que vieram ambas do saudoso mestre Rolls Gracie. Qual é o saldo desta sua ida à Alliance SP?

BRÁULIO ESTIMA: Foi de fato muito interessante, pois foi o Fabio que abriu o seminário para todos os interessados. Foi a primeira vez que o Fabio abriu as portas da academia para um professor de outra agremiação, e eu fico bem honrado com isso. É uma alegria fazer parte disso tudo. A galera compareceu e todos demonstraram muito interesse em aprender durante o seminário, e é isso que faz nosso trabalho ficar empolgante. O Fabio é um ícone do esporte, faz parte do carro-chefe de uma geração que me espelhei muito no começo da minha carreira. Viemos da mesma raiz e queremos as mesmas coisas em prol do Jiu-Jitsu.

No fim do seminário, vocês chegaram a dar um rola eletrizante. O que você aprendeu ali?

Depois de ensinar as técnicas, sempre vem a parte dos treinos, e como amantes da arte suave que somos é impossível não nos divertimos treinando juntos. Foi então pura diversão, e uma satisfação enorme treinar com o Fabio. Aprendi muito também, acho que o Fabio Gurgel será sempre o Fabio Gurgel que todos vimos, sempre muito duro e dono de um posicionamento perfeito.

O General continua surpreendendo? Será que ele ganhou mais uma estrela durante o treino entre vocês?

Acho que ele não tem muito mais patente para subir, não (Risos). Eu só espero chegar na idade dele treinando o tanto quanto ele treina.

E agora você viaja a Montreal para treinar com GSP para o UFC 154. Como está a vontade do GSP para mais esta disputa?

Acabei de chegar em Montreal, já fizemos uma primeira reunião e vi vários vídeos do treinamento dele. Ele me parece melhor do que antes, com esta soma da vontade de voltar a lutar depois de tanto tempo. Muitos se intimidam com este desafio de retornar à ativa, mas ele está superempolgado com tudo isso. E eu também.

E enquanto você ajuda a afiar o chão de GSP no Canadá, nos EUA Carlos Condit tem treinado com Caio Terra. Vamos ver um Jiu-Jitsu de alto nível na luta?

O chão do GSP é muito eficiente, e o wrestling é sem palavras. Mas, o melhor que ele tem é a forma como ele junta tudo numa estratégia para anular os melhores movimentos do oponente. E como essa luta não será fácil, eu vejo o Georges derrubando e fazendo um ground and pound, minando assim o ritmo de Condit.  E acredito que sim, terá Jiu-Jitsu nessa luta.

Muitos seminários aí, entre um treino e outro na GB Montreal?

Sim, tenho seminários aqui. O primeiro será na GB Montreal, com o Bruno Fernandes, neste domingo. O outro será com o Pat Cooligan, em Ottawa. Daqui já vou direto para mais um em Paris, dia 3 de novembro. Estou com a agenda cheia até o fim de dezembro, só ali pretendo parar para focar na minha próxima luta de MMA.

GRACIEMAG: The 20th was a memorable day for the folks at GB and Alliance, thanks to the seminar you held in São Paulo and the epic speech by Fabio Gurgel, where he reminds everyone that the two schools are not enemies but sisters, as they both trace back to the late Master Rolls Gracie. So what’s the wrap-up on your trip to Alliance São Paulo?

BRÁULIO ESTIMA: It was really interesting indeed, because it was Fabio who opened the seminar up to everyone interested in attending. It was the first time Fabio opened his academy up to a teacher from another team, and I’m flattered by it. It was a joy to be part of all that. Everyone showed great interest in learning during the seminar, and that makes our work all the more exciting. Fabio is an icon of the sport. He’s the frontrunner from a generation that I modeled myself on early in my career. We come from the same roots and strive for the same things for Jiu-Jitsu.

At the end of the seminar, you guys had an interesting roll. What did you learn from that?

After teaching the techniques, there’s always the training part, and being the gentle-art lovers we are, it’s impossible for us not to have fun training together. So it was pure fun, and was greatly satisfying to be able to train with Fabio. I learned a lot, too. I feel Fabio Gurgel will always be the Fabio Gurgel that we saw there—always really tough and with perfect positioning.

Does the General continue to pull off surprises? Has he earned another star since you two trained?

I don’t think he has any higher to go (laughs). I just hope when I’m his age I’ll be training as much as he does.

So now you’re heading to Montreal to help GSP train for UFC 154. How determined is GSP for this fight?

I just arrived in Montreal. We’ve already had the first meeting, and I watched some training footage of his. He seems even better than he was before, with all his desire to fight again after so long. A lot of guys would be intimidated by having to return after so long, but he’s really enthused about it. And I am too.

And while you’re helping to sharpen up GSP’s ground skills in Canada, in the USA Carlos Condit is training with Caio Terra. Will we be seeing some first-rate Jiu-Jitsu in this fight?

GSP has really efficient grappling, and there aren’t words to describe his wrestling. But the best facet of his game is the way he strings everything together in a strategy that neutralizes his opponent’s strengths. And as this won’t be an easy fight, I see Georges taking it down and doing ground and pound, undermining Condit’s pace that way. And yes, I do feel there’ll be Jiu-Jitsu in this fight.

Have you got a lot of seminars lined up for between training sessions at GB Montreal?

Yes, I’ve got some seminars here. The first one will be at GB Montreal with Bruno Fernandes this Sunday. The other one will be at Pat Cooligan’s, over in Ottawa. From here I’ll go straight to Paris on November 3. I’ve got a packed agenda up until December. Only then will I stop to focus on my next MMA fight.
