The BJJ Professional Cup kicked off this Saturday in Biella, Italy’s Lauretana Forum gymnasium, and plenty more action is in store for Sunday.

The big name to arise from the first day was Poland’s Marcin Held, a Gracie Barra Poland brown belt who also fights professionally in MMA, fighting at the American Bellator event. The fighter won the lightweight and light absolute categories after facing hard-nosed Englishman and Roger Gracie student Oliver Geddes in both finals, thus taking the cash prize.

Another Gracie Barra brown belt met with similar success. Gareth Neale won both the medium heavyweight and heavy absolute divisions, overcoming Marcello Daflon (Carlson Gracie) in the decider.

The standouts at purple belt were Ilke Bulut (Icon), winner of the light absolute, and Genin Julien (Fight Club), who won the heavy absolute.

André Perez (Batata JJ) was the big winner of the absolute blue.

As disputas da BJJ Professional Cup começaram neste sábado no Lauretana Fórum, em Biella, Itália. O domingo promete muitas emoções com as superlutas e todas as disputas da faixa-preta.

Mas quem mandou bem neste primeiro dia de lutas foi o polonês Marcin Held, faixa-marrom da Gracie Barra Polônia que também combate no MMA, atleta do evento americano Bellator. A fera venceu no peso leve e no absoluto leve para embolsar a premiação em dinheiro, com duas vitórias sobre Oliver Geddes, inglês pedreira, aluno de Roger Gracie.

Também na faixa-marrom foi bem Gareth Neale (Gracie Barra), campeão no meio-pesado e absoluto pesado, tendo finalizado Marcello Daflon (Carlson Gracie) na disputa pelo ouro.

Na faixa-roxa, se destacaram Ilke Bulut (Icon), campeão do absoluto leve, e Genin Julien (Fight Club), vencedor no absoluto pesado.

André Perez (Batata JJ) foi o grande campeão do absoluto faixa-azul.
