Carlos Maciel, a black belt in kickboxing and one of the striking coaches on Team Link, will see action the coming 25th of February in Salt Lake City, Utah, at Ultimate Combat Experience (UCE).

After helping with the preparations of the likes of Gabriel Napão and Fabio “Jungle Boy” Serrão, Carlãohas been training hard for his US cage debut.

“After some time helping the kids out in their fights it made me want to contribute more to the team, now in the ring. People who keep up with the sport know Team Link is an MMA powerhouse and that everyone in this group works towards the common good, which is victory. That’s why I’m giving my all in training; I know the result will depend on a lot of training and dedication,” he said in closing.

Carlos Maciel, faixa-preta de kickboxing e um dos treinadores de trocação do Team Link, entra em ação no próximo dia 25 de fevereiro, em Salt Lake City, Utah, no evento Ultimate Combat Experience (UCE).

Depois de ajudar na preparação de atletas do calibre de Gabriel Napão e Fabio “Jungle Boy” Serrão, Carlão vem treinando forte para sua estreia nos cages americanos.

“Depois de algum tempo ajudando essa rapaziada para as lutas deu vontade de contribuir mais com a equipe, agora dentro do ringue. As pessoas que acompanham esse esporte sabem que o Team Link é uma potência dentro do MMA, e que todos aqui do grupo trabalhamos para um bem comum que é a vitória, por isso estou dando meu máximo nos treinamentos, sei que o resultado depende de muito treino e dedicacação”, encerrou.

Following solid results in 2009 when he won three Naga grappling belts, and fighting for the belt at the Ring of Fire MMA promotion this year, Fabio “Jungle Boy” Serrão faced the biggest challenge of his life.

“I had to take a break. I suffered my worst loss: I lost my father. I couldn’t train, I didn’t feel well and couldn’t focus. I got some good offers for fights, even to face a fighter from the Gracie family in New Jersey, but I turned them all down,” says the Jiu-Jitsu black belt who now feels ready to return.

I’m ready to take up my career again. I got some offers from big events and I’m heading to Arizona to see about a contract with a really good event! They want me to fight for the featherweight belt. As soon as the deal is sealed, the folks who keep up with the site will know about it.”

Depois de bons resultados em 2009, quando faturou na luta de chão três cinturões do Naga, e de ter disputado o cinturão do evento de MMA Ring of Fire, este ano, Fabio Serrão, o Jungle Boy, teve que lidar com o maior desafio da vida.  

“Precisava dar um tempo. Sofri a minha maior derrota:perdi meu pai. Não consegui me manter treinando, não me sentia bem e não conseguia me focar. Recebi boas propostas de lutas, inclusive para enfrentar um lutador da família Gracie, em Nova Jersey, mas recusei todas”, conta o faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu, que agora se sente pronto para voltar.  

“Estou pronto para retomar a minha carreira. Recebi algumas propostas de eventos grandes e vou ao Arizona tratar de um contrato com num evento muito bom! Eles me querem pra disputar o cinturão dos penas. Assim que fechar, a galera que acompanha o site vai ficar sabendo.”

A fera do amazonas Fabio “Jungle Boy” Serrão lutou no fim de semana passado em Springfield, Massachussets, num dos maiores eventos de grappling dos EUA, o Naga East Cost. Mais uma vez o lutador subiu na parte mais alta do pódio. Fabinho conquistou o cinturão da categoria leve faixa-preta e ainda abocanhou o terceiro lugar do sem kimono avançado.

“Na verdade viajei para Massachussets para lutar um evento de MMA e ajudar meu companheiro de equipe Ricardo Funch, que irá lutar no UFC, em Vancouver, no Canadá. Mas, infelizmente, o evento que eu iria lutar foi cancelado. Então decidi dar minha pequena ajuda a Team Link para tentarmos conseguir conquistar o primeiro lugar geral no Naga e esta foi a sétima vez consecutiva que a equipe vence”, conta Serrão.

“A Team link está de parabéns. Arrebentamos no fim de semana, agora estamos todos focados na preparação do Ricardo Funch, que, sem sombra de dúvidas, vai arrebentar no octagon do UFC e trazer mais uma vitória para a equipe”, finalizou o faixa-preta.

The beast form Amazonas state Fabio “Jungle Boy” Serrão fought this past weekend in Springfield, Massachusetts, at one of the biggest grappling events in the USA, NAGA East Coast. Once again the fighter made it to the top of the winners’ stand. Fabio captured the lightweight black belt division belt and even nabbed third place in the no-gi advanced category.

“Truth is I went to Massachusetts to fight at an MMA event and help my teammate Ricardo Funch, who will fight at the UFC event in Vancouver, Canada. But, unfortunately, the event I was going to fight at was cancelled. So I decided to try and help Team Link a bit in going for first place in the overall NAGA placing and this was the seventh time in a row the team wins,” recounts Serrão.

“Team Link is to be congratulated. We kicked butt this weekend, and now we’re focused on the preparations of Ricardo Funch, who, without a doubt, is going to kick butt in the UFC octagon and bring back yet another win for the team,” said the black belt in finishing.

O amazonense Fabio Serrão, mais conhecido como “Jungle Boy”, estará de volta às jaulas americanas no início de março, em Salt Lake City, no estado de Utah. O faixa-preta luta no evento  Throwdown 5 e falou do treinamento na Team Link, equipe de Gabriel “Napão” Gonzaga e Marco Alvan.

“Estamos treinando a todo vapor aqui na altitude e com certeza estarei 100% para a minha luta O carro chefe sempre foi e vai ser o Jiu-Jitsu, mas também estou treinando bastante muay thai e boxe. Estarei preparado pra qualquer situação”, diz.

“Ainda não sei qual será o adversário, mas fiquei sabendo que pode ser contra o número 2 dos pesos penas da organização. Se vencer, provavelmente na próxima luto pelo cinturão. Mas agora o foco é ir lá e trazer mais uma vitoria pra a Team Link”, completa.

De olho no que rola no mundo do MMA, Serrão está na torcida por outro atleta do Amazonas, Ronys Torres, que estreia neste sábado no UFC 109, contra Melvin Guillard.

“Falei com o Ronys e ele está bastante confiante e treinado. Ele é aquilo: esforçado, talentoso e casca-grossa mesmo! Tenho certeza que vai arrebentar!”

Amazonas-state native Fabio Serrão, better known as “Jungle Boy”, will be back in cages in the U.S. early March in Salt Lake City, Utah. The black belt will fight at the Throwdow V event and spoke of training at Team Link, Gabriel ” Napão ” Gonzaga and Marco Alvan’s team.

“We are training in full swing here at altitude and for sure I’ll be 100% for my fight My flagship has always been and always will be Jiu-Jitsu, but I’m also practicing a lot and muay thai and boxing. I’m ready for any situation, “he says.

“I don’t yet know who my opponent will be, but I found out that I may face the number 2 in the organization’s featherweight division. If I win, my next fight will likely be for the belt. But now my focus is to go in there and bring another win back for Team Link “he adds.

With an eye on the goings-on in the world of MMA, Serrão is rooting for another athlete from his home state of Amazonas, Ronys Torres, who makes his US debut Saturday at UFC 109, against Melvin Guillard.

“I spoke with Ronys and he is very confident and well prepared. He’s just that, a hardworking, talented and tough guy! I’m sure he will make it big! “
